I am currently on the Koningsdam, its Thanksgiving day and here is my review.
I’ve never cruised Holland America before. Mostly I’m a loyal Royal Caribbean fan.
I’m travelling solo this time after three years not leaving the island where I live and I was ready to cruise again. I chose Holland America because they sail out of San Diego, the closet port to my home in Hawaii. I wanted an older ...
First of all. let me say I had some trepidation after booking this cruise. We were originally booked on the Diamond Princess out of San Diego in October. We were anxious to have a Princess ship ported out of our hometown and yes it was "that" Diamond Princess of Covid fame. But unfortunately, Princess cancelled the cruise along with about seven or eight other San Diego departures due to a lack of ...
14 Day Panama Bucket List, San Diego to Ft Lauderdale
I have sailed 7x on HAL, and first time on this ship. I will say, I don’t think I will sail on this particular one ever again unless it goes on a refit.
The best thing about the trip was our cabin Stu, he was by himself and we were deck 5 aft verandah (perfect spot for Panama Canal trip) they say stern (no rooms) or aft is the place to ...
Context: I'm a 40-something gay man traveling with my husband and our 19 year old kid (first cruise for the kid). This was my first cruise on HAL, and his second. Other lines we've done: Celebrity (twice), RCCL (twice), Norwegian (twice), Princess (once). Our favorite lines are Celebrity and RCCL.
A little context to this review. Apparently, this was the first fully booked cruise on ...
Let me start by saying that I really wanted and was looking forward to a wonderful cruise. I heard nothing but great reviews (mostly). This whole trip started before the pandemic as my fiancé, and I purchased a 17-day Hawaiian island cruise( we were going to marry and the cruise was our honeymoon) that was cancelled due to the pandemic (No fault of Holland). Long story short after fighting with ...
The jewel was impeccably clean, and well maintained despite its age. The crew were all very friendly, super helpful. There were activities all over the ship at all hours of the day and a show inside the Stardust theatre every night. No matter if it was a port day or sea day, there was never a dull moment.
During this Nov sailing, the ship was more than half empty. I suspect because most kids ...
We have cruised on many different Carnival ships over the past few years and have a broad range of experiences with different cabin classes and the amenities and layouts of both their older and newer ships. We stayed in a balcony cabin this time around and as Gold VIFP members, got the almost zero perks our class of membership gets. After sailing 50 nights over the last few years, we still have 25 ...
My husband and I have taken similar cruises to Mexico a number of times, but this cruise was really special. One of the many reasons was that the ship was only about one third full which made our experience really wonderful.
We had a suite so our embarkation was effortless. Our suite wasn’t the biggest, but it had a good sized balcony and a nice sized living room and bedroom. The only drawback ...
We chose this cruise for a couple of reasons - ports of call including the Panama Canal and second the price was amazing. NCL service is absolutely TOP NOTCH in all aspects of delivery. Everyone was polite, helpful, kind and courteous. The Jewel is a great ship - just the right size - not too big/not too small. The refurbishment is NICE. Ports of call included Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta, ...
We have sailed with Princess in the past and were anxious to get back on board. We left San Francisco rather late (not sure what the holdup was), burt experienced going under the Golden Gate Bridge at twilight! How crazy was that! Then it was off into the wild blue seas, which got my husband completely seasick for the next two days.
Regardless, the Medallion system worked great, although I ...
