My wife and I are generally ocean cruise fans, but we took this trip in order to explore the history of Egypt. It's hard to imagine a better itinerary than the one organized by Viking. One of the highlights was Nefertari's tomb. Admission is limited to 100 visitors a day, and on the day we visited over half of those were our fellow passengers. The tour guides (Program Directors in Viking ...
I absolutely loved my time on the Viking Alruna. This is the second Viking cruise I’ve been on and loved it just as much as the first one (first time with friends instead of family).
The staff was amazing, the accommodations and food were great, the stops were fantastic. Special shoutout the BILLY, Alexandra, Van Allen, Laurentiu, Shemy, and Uri. All contributed to our time being enjoyable and ...
We chose to go on a river cruise, thinking it would be as advertised—relaxing, immersive, and beautiful scenery along a river. We got a crowded bus tour with a view of the boat next to us 5 nights out of 8. Save your money. The Douro River tour is falsely advertised. It’s up early every day (before 7 am), get on a bus by 8:15 am, go to a location (no time for exploring), get a crowded tour by ...
Our first Viking River Cruises. We Sailed from Basel, Switzerland on the 23d on December 2023 on the Viking Ship Hlin up the Rhine River to Amsterdam. Our Original Viking Sister Ship the Alruna was not available for this River Cruise. Both ships are similar in design and service, and we transition into our A Veranda Stateroom with ease. Several of the Viking Service Staff were present to help ...
I paid for two lower level cabins. We traveled as two single women celebrating the end of a tough work year. Each was about $7,000. The ship is new and is beautiful. The living room (central event and sitting area) is very nice. The couches are really low on the ship and many elderly people couldn't get up without a lot of effort however. The bar is laid out nicely and is a friendly place to go. ...
Went with a few friends and family to see the Christmas markets. I would recommend this to everyone. The 2 bad things were that they had a very heavy rainy season. This made getting from Passau to Budapest very challenging for the crew since we have to go under bridges. We did get stuck in Vienna for an extra night. That was not vikings first rodeo with theses issues. That made things happen so we ...
We were on the last ship to depart Passau for Budapest along the Danube for the Christmas Markets. We left on December 20th after a stay in Passau. We had rain and as the river began to rise it became questionable about making our destination in Budapest by ship. We were able to make our scheduled stops in Linz and in Krems. We departed Krems after the morning excursions in order to get ahead of ...
the overall experience was really disappointing. I felt that Viking skimped on alot of small but very important items. First off, the buffet when we arrived on the ship was sparce, not many selections. However, the check in could not have been more efficient.
We have been on close to 10 cruises so far and I would rate Viking at the lowest end of the cruises. Staff was great but there was ...
Christmas on the Rhine - that’ll be special and nice I thought.
What a crushing disappointment that turned out to be, onboard Viking Sigrun.
Chose Viking off the back of good online reviews and those of friends who had travelled with them, and expectations were high. Before even starting the trip Viking delivered disappointment .
This trip was booked in the previous March and in June ...
My husband and I initially had reservations about going on a cruise and opted for a smaller river cruise on the Seine as our initiation into cruising. Our entire trip was absolutely wonderful and far exceeded our expectations. One of the things that made us forever members of Viking Cruising was our experience at the airport. Pick-up was as promised, but we were absolutely thrilled to be shuttled ...
