Wanted to visit Christmas markets during December . We were not disappointed! Crew was great. Service was excellent, Inna our steward, Rea and Brandi. David the cruise director was awesome. Experienced captain made great decisions which allowed us to complete voyage. Some ships unable to complete route and were stranded which ended their trip early. Rapid rising water from snow melt prevented some ...
My wife and I went on the Christmas market on the Rhine cruise. Magical is the word we use to describe our trip. As expected the food, tours, staff and all were amazing. What really made me a Viking fan for life is how they handled a problem (NOT their fault) that came up. 3 days into our trip a tanker was grounded in the river blocking travel in both directions. Viking saved the day by ...
The experience was horrible from day 1. Arrived day early and stayed in hotel. Departed next morning for the dock, no ship. Went to 2d dock, no ship. At 3rd, there was a Viking ship (not ours) who advised us that we had to go to another hotel to be bussed to our second port. So, missed time in Basel. No text, no email, no communication. Balance of trip was just as bad. Poor communication by ...
Listed as a Christmas Market cruise docking at places I have visited before, I expected the emphasis to be on the Christmas markets. I expected on board education sessions, at least one, on the long history of the markets and how each one is unique with the same underpinnings. Educational moment on the foods served at the markets would have been appreciated. Biggest disappointment was paying ...
We never left from Basel or saw it. No communication to passengers on change, which resulted in chaos. Skipped ports with no explanation. Due to a tanker running aground, we were forced again to be bussed to a new ship, missing the scenic area & lovely promised ports. Bus ride was pure misery . That travel ,under difficult conditions took a day.
The communication or lack of was the most ...
We have sailed with Viking before, however this was our first riverboat cruise. Viking didn’t disappoint! This was a very enjoyable experience !
After a river boat accident changed our cruise and deleted Koblenz from our itinerary, the transfer to a different Viking boat went off without a hitch. The tour of castles and bus trip were very interesting and offered another perspective of ...
We chose this cruise specifically for the christmas markets but what we received was a lot of bus time and enrichment tours with tons of time walking and seeing things we were not really interested in. first time in paris, christmas market non existent, did get about 10 minutes for a picture of the effie tower . hotel in paris ok but nothing t write home about, trip to trier, walking in the ...
Chose Viking cruise because of the small ship size and the ability of seeing so many different Christmas Markets. The food on board was decent. Breakfast was the best offering of the day. Lunch and supper were less stellar. Typical cruise fare. If you are looking for gourmet you will be disappointed, but you won’t starve. Coffee and snacks are provided all day long for a quick energy boost. ...
I was celebrating a milestone birthday with my friend, and this was on our bucket list. Unfortunately, we were unable to get into Munich from Amsterdam due to a major snowstorm. This hindered us from actually getting to the ship until it had already been sailing for four days. Very disappointing as we missed three of the markets on this cruise. No one to blame for weather related events, ...
We chose this cruise for the Christmas markets we would visit. As far as those locations and the associated excursions our expectations were exceeded. The locations were great with really no two experiences being the same. The tour guides were all outstanding; with all being well informed, strong English speaking skills, and (as a bonus in one case) inclusive of adult comedy. The Ship ...
