The ambience of the ship was excellent. Service, entertainment, activities during the day all outstanding. We upgraded to a suite which was well worth it. Our butler was first rate. As far as NCL ships go I liked the Getaway as I also liked her sister the Breakaway. I found the ship roomy with lots of nice spaces and lots of things to do. I use the Spice H2O during the day because it is adult only and the service there is always good. The complementary restaurants were excellent yet redundant on a 10 day cruise. This ship always seemed very crowded. The embarkation was very disorganized.Since we sailed out of NYC it was Cold and then cool for several days. The indoor space is very lined with indoor seating extremely limited. This is compounded by the open Casino that billows smoke smell into multiple other areas. We won a cruise for two through the casino, and it was wonderful. You had the typical elderly farts acting all doom and gloom, and the five dollar millionaires acting as though they have class, but after navigating through that, we made the best out of it. We had booked this cruise kind of last minute, was this or a west coast / Mexico. We had even considered a different line because of the poor experience we had on the Jewel but thought...maybe that was a one off, give NCL another chance? Quality of crew, except expedition leader, was outstanding...itinerary blasé...naturalists excellent, food outstanding...but knowing what we know now, would not recommend this itinerary to NZ. Fairly uninteresting...ship is outstanding, crew excellent...cabin service outstanding. This was the least interesting of any Lindblad/Nat Geo trip we've been on...hope they find better things to do with ...

We enjoyed our cruise and overall had a good time. The itinerary was great, the crew friendly and helpful, the activities were diversified. The ship was sold out and very crowded at times, especially the pool and early dining times. Without a reservation the waiting time to enter any Main Dining Room before 8 pm was at least 30 min.
