The cruise hit several locations we wanted to visit. We were glad we started in Greece then Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia and went to Italy. We did extend our trip 2 days in Venice which was a must. The locations seemed to improve as we headed north. The food was outstanding and the daily wine choices were great. We should have taken more advantage of the onboard entertainment. The crew were outstanding. They were very attentive and funny. We appreciate their efforts and service. The excursions were great we did upgrade a few. The history and culture were amazing. Great cultural enrichment and wine! We overpacked. Having the onboard washers and dryers were great to recycle and bring less. We recommend being self aware as a traveler. We were disappointed by the rudeness of some of the other travelers. When something did not go perfect the ship crew always worked hard and quickly to correct it. Be patient. Read Less

Having loved our Viking River Cruise in 2017, we decided to try the Viking Ocean Cruise. So glad we did. Everything about the ship and the crew was exceptional. The atmosphere, the food, wine, shore excursions, on board activities, it was all marvelous. With only 930 passengers, one never felt crowded and we never had to wait for a table or any type of service. The crew was super professional, courteous and friendly. They helped to create an atmosphere wherein it was easy to make friends with fellow passengers. The cabin design was streamlined and gave a sense of space. Having all cabins with balconies is a huge bonus. Having room service breakfast on our balcony a couple of time was a lovely luxury. The staff in all the restaurants, bars and spa were fabulous. We attended several shows, all of which were fun and entertaining. We have already booked our next Viking Ocean cruise and can't wait for it. Thank you Viking! Read Less

Recommendation from friends. The ship was clean and efficient. The staff were truly great - responsive and polite. The food was excellent at Manfreds but could only get a reservation one night - very disappointing. Some meals at The Restaurant were good and others not so - for example, Sword Fish over cooked. The public places on board were very comfortable. The optional excursions were great. The optional Silver Beverage Package was well worth it. The cabin Stewart, Josephine, was so good. So was Jean Paul at The Restaurant. We used the Explorers’ Lounge a lot and found it so comfortable and the service excellent. We particularly enjoyed the guitarist. When we book another cruise we will use Viking again - smaller ship, no children, no casino, etc. we are considering a river cruise, particularly the Danube. Thanks to the crew of the Viking Star for such a pleasant experience. Read Less

We picked this cruise to see Alaska, especially the inside passage and Ketchikan. Although scheduled, the cruise skipped both. That was extremely disappointing. Princess did nothing to make up for it. The staff were excellent, friendly and efficient, especially in the bars and restaurants. The food varied from good to poor, but there was a lot of it. The drink “packages” were overpriced, I don’t recommend them. The room service menu was surprisingly limited. The Coral Princess ship was nice. We had taken this cruise before on other ships, and the ports and shore excursions were excellent, but on this cruise we took no excursions primarily because of the bad weather. Embarkation was easy and quick, but disembarkation was a nightmare. Customs was easy, baggage collection was easy, but the line to get a taxi took two and a half hours! Standing in the cold with 2,000 of my best friends for that length of time was miserable. Overall, of ~20 cruises I’ve taken, this was the poorest. Good luck. Read Less

Celebrating a friends 70th Birthday - it was a private charter A Welcome Pack was received well before the trip with lots of information contained within it - a follow up call to ensure we had received it and did we have any questions There was an allocated meeting point which served refreshments prior to us embarking - our luggage was transferred to our cabins on board On board we were welcomed by the crew who introduced themselves and gave us information about the boat including any safety issues. The Captain then discussed with our hosts the proposed plans for the following days. Crew - four in total including the Captain. They worked as a great team, they worked hard were very approachable and knowledgeable plus they entertained us with a musical evening Food - superb, beautifully planned and cooked meals using local produce wherever possible. Home made bread, rolls, scones and biscuits that were delicious. Breakfasts that were absolutely worth getting up for. A beautifully set table especially for the evening meal. A good selection of wines - a more than adequate bar. They take note of any dietary requirements Cabins - good colour scheme, excellent linen, good sized comfortable double bed, local toiletries, good sized wardrobe, soft good sized towels Some things to be aware of - You cannot do anything about the weather When you go on shore you travel on a small tender - the crew members who accompany you will look after you If you are not on a private charter then you should be prepared to socialise with new people This trip was on my “bucket list” and it exceeded all my expectations it was wonderful. We had good weather so we have been able to share not only great memories but some wonderful sunsets. Read Less

Over all the experience was not so good. The ship was too big, it had to be docked at Circular Key not White Bay as it wouldn’t fit under the Harbour Bridge. The laundry's were located the end of the ship on each deck directly above and below each other, meaning a cut lunch and a water bottle was needed. Some of the wait staff spent more time speaking to each other rather than looking after the paying passengers. The price of refreshments was a rip off being &42 a bottle and $12 to $14 a glass for wine. Water in the state room was also overpriced at $6.50 for a 1.5 ltrs bottle. The entertainment was that good, not a lot of of variety offered. The big screen was not used that often for movies. The main entertainment areas were located at either ends of the ship again meaning the cur lunch and water bag were needed. The layout of the main eating areas (help your self) on deck 16 was rather strange, having different sections for different foods but not those that should have been together ie the bread was with the cakes not with the hot foods. It meant by the time it took to get all you needed to make a main meal and returned to your table it was cold. Read Less

Our first river cruise, Passau to Budapest aboard the Hermod. Overall very pleased with the cruise. We did the pre-cruise in Prague, everything was well organized by Viking. The tree days gave us time to adjust to the time change before boarding the boat. The Viking included excursions in Prague and on the boat were top-notch, their fleet of buses were noteworthy for cleanliness and comfort. Our embarkation was about as simple as could be...walk on the boat, our bags where at the room within minutes. Unlike Ocean cruising I didn’t see any security, no photo ID’s, no scanners of bags, all which led to a little uneasiness. The first organized event was the welcome to the ship by our cruise director, Sonia. She was tops in her communication and organizational skills. Kept us well informed and herded us to our various excursions. The biggest disappointment with the cruise for me was the evening meal. Once the pre-brief for the next day was complete at 7:00 PM it was a mass rush to dinner. There is only one dining room, and it was a scramble for the tables, no assigned seating, no escort by the Matre D, or staff...just grab a seat. Kind of throwback to College dining facility. “Smart Casual” was largely ignored given the preponderance of jeans, jeans in my book is not smart casual. The food was tasty, the choices descent, the service good. The included tours by Viking were well done and varied, walking tours, organ concerts, excursions to sites out of town. A lot of history, was a bit tired of history by the end of the cruise for my liking but the area we cruised is history so it should be expected. A few sections of the river were very beautiful and the timing was such that they were done in the daylight. Enjoyed the Mozart concert in Vienna. Onboard entertainment was slim, only one venue. They brought some area entertainers onboard that were a nice break from the resident piano player. Overall well done for Viking. Most of the travelers were in their 60’s and 70’s, not quite as old as I feared, the walking tours were slow paced. I would do another Viking but prefer the amenities offered on an ocean cruise over the river cruise. Read Less

DW and I choose this cruise due to no flying. LA round trip to Alaska. First kept getting delayed boarding notices. Was supposed to board around Noon but instead 6 PM. Then our traditional dining at Allegro which was booked and confirmed 1 1/2 years go was changed to Anytime. Had to take vacation time to change it to a not as good substitute set seating dining at Symphony. The room steward was perfect, he met all our needs and went beyond the call of duty, gave him the highest rating on the post cruise eval. Entertainment was uneven. The main production numbers were cut short. We had done the Royal last year October and we saw more versions of the Princess singers and dancers. Some of the guest entertainers were very good and some not. Jennifer Singer was terrific. Was disappointed in the Princess whale excursion out of Ketchican, saw none. The Juneau Tour and Whale Watch was great, saw many whales, saw 3 spouting next to each other, several flippers hitting the water, several diving with tails in the air, and several jumping out of the water and making very large splashes. Food was good or just OK in main dining, worse with few exceptions at Horizon, very good at International Café, very good at Alfredo's, excellent at Sabatini's. Balcony cabin was smaller than older Princess ships. Matt O, cruise director, was all over the ship and terrific, made the otherwise too many sea days in a row do-able. An on that note, Victoria was skipped due to the last portion of the new extended dock not being finished due to that part lost a sea during a storm. Princess should have substituted another port, say Vancouver. Read Less

Firstly a disclaimer this is our first river cruise although we have done a number of cruises on small ships Azamara, Oceana. We embarked in Arle and then went downstream 1 hour to the Camarge. The active excursion by bike was great. Day 2 back to Arle ( where we had independently spent a day) the excursion was great hiking up a limestone mountain and seeing a Van Gogh audiovisual presentation inside a building with images projected onto limestone. Day 3 meandered upstream to Avignon and went to an amazing chocolate factory. So overall the excursions were good to great.. The food was not impressive compared to the other small cruise ships we had been on. One meal the menu offering was a rack of lamb but this turned out to be 2 lamb chops. Several passengers asked the waiter for the rest of their rack of lamb. The cabin we chose the highest level stateroom was nice. Entertainment on board was very limited. One night they had a great group of performers with spanish guitar, and 2 dancers. Read Less

We chose this cruise because we had never been to the previous communist countries.or cruise included a tour everyday that were very informative and interesting. The guides spoke excellent English. Our cabin was the lowest you could buy and it was very nice with a decent bathroom. We loved the dining experience. Breakfast and lunch were buffet with good choices of entree. Dinner was served off a menu, we had excellent service at all meals. Great wine was provided to compliment your food choices. Entertainment was a keyboard and singer which was fine. The ports were good and explanatory of the countries. This is not a trip for children but perfect for history lovers and foodies.I would go on another river cruise to a different area.our cruise offered bikes you could take for a spin. We also had a small whirlpool which was heated and we enjoyed a few times. Read Less

After 6 cruises on the big ships we decided for our anniversary to try a river cruise with Viking (we’ve done already 2 Viking cruises on the ocean). The cruise from Bucharest to Budapest sounded very interesting and we decided to try despite the fact that our friends from Atlanta got a better quote for the same cruise and the same cabin. The ship was Viking LIF and the entire experience made us to started to look more in to river cruise for our future holidays. Here are some suggestion and impression from our trip in eastern Europe Bucharest – a beautiful city where the communism left plenty of marks. We loved the food and the architecture and, as a suggestion, maybe in the future Viking will organise a stay longer than one night. Excellent hotel and very well organised transfers. Ruse – despite the fact that the journey to Arbanassii was quite long the excursion was amazing giving as the chance to learn about the history of this country (we didn’t have any idea about how old Bulgaria is). Great lunch and fantastic place to visit. Maybe the guides can be less ridged and less “primary school teacher”-like Vidin – a very poor city but the trip to the mountains was amazing. Was great that the cruise director “forced” us to go and ignore the information about difficulty of the excursion. Was worth it and you don’t miss the breath-taking views with plenty of things to do if you don’t climb the rocks. Sailing day – the landscape is fantastic, and the information offered by the cruise director made us feel like in a Discovery documentary. We loved the new excursions introduced by Viking in a local village, an areological site and a fortress. The children invited on board were amazing despite the fact that the moderator of the conversation was trying hard to take over the entire conversation. Belgrade – we would love to stay longer. What an amazing city! We strongly recommend the visit to the opera and a lunch on your own to a restaurant close to the ship with no name …just “?” (our Cruise Director was so right to recommend this place) Vukovar – the visit to a Croatian family was fantastic and a real eye-opener. Maybe Viking can do something about the “rush feeling” of that day…we would like to explore more. Kalocsa – the horse farm was an interesting and authentic experience. If you want to buy paprika do it here is far much cheaper and better quality than the one in Budapest. The small shop close to the ship has excellent prices and they all speak English. Budapest – we’ve been to Budapest before but was a pleasure to visit it again. The hotel was a nice decent one, the tours were interesting but for us, Budapest was the end of our cruise so we were sad to leave Viking LIF. The staff on Viking LIF was absolutely amazing and nothing was too much for them. Joy our room stewardess was a real “JOY” smiling, helpful and very well organised making our cabin impeccable every day. In the restaurant the manager Kristian was very helpful and friendly providing an excellent service with a lot of care and attention. Alin in the bar, great and very professional, learned in the first day our favourite G&T and we enjoyed every moment spent in the lounge. We fall in love with the reception team especially with Susanna very friendly and always ready to help. But the top of this extraordinary team was our Cruise Director Leonard. He was working around the clock, almost 24 hours daily with the same passion, enthusiasm and professionalism. Was obvious that he is in love with his job and every meeting before dinner was a mixture of practical information, facts traditions and stories put together with a unique charisma and sense of humour. After the first day, was hard to find a place for his presentation in the lounge. Every night after dinner Leonard had a surprise for the passengers: lectures (the one about Dracula was as good as a real History Channel documentary and his story about Ceausescu time was heart-breaking), games (so much fun in the music quiz) and an amazing Disco party with music and dance until early hours in the morning. With brilliant organisational skills everything planned by him went perfect even if sometimes you can see the struggle behind. Honestly if Viking will tell me that Leonard will be our next cruise director I will book a cruise even on the river behind our house! After on week on Viking LIF I understand why Viking is the best and the only option to travel in comfort. Thank you Viking, thank you Lif, thank you Leonard! See you soon! Read Less

Originally booked this cruise for Cuba, but since changes in itinerary, we visited Honduras, Costa Maya, Cozumel, and Key West. Great ports, ship docked close to all restaurants and shopping. On board the Armonia, the food was typical, shopping good, and shows great. Ship is in need of updates, since its an older ship. Cruise critic put in an amazing private party with cake, drinks, and hor'dorves. Great to mingle with fellow cruisers and get good information on their experiences, and to get insight on future crises. Pros and cons of other cruise lines. Cruise critic does not sell anything during this private party. They only want you to have fun and meet and mingle with other guests. Cruise director was there and we had a group picture that we got free, delivered to our stateroom the next day. 8x10. That was awesome! This was our first time cruising, so we researched several cruise lines and cruises destinations. We decided on Norwegian because it suited our style and price the best. We heard so many good things about Norwegian from friends as well! I can say we were not disappointed! We used GoPort from our hotel to the ship terminal. Door to door was easy and worry free trying to find the right terminal and parking. From beginning to end Norwegian staff was attentive and gracious. The excursions we took in Key West and Nassau were great plus getting on and off the ship was stress free. Seven Seas restaurant was our favorite dining place all the way around! I think our choice of a balcony cabin was the best choice for my husband and me. We regularly sat on the balcony enjoying the blue ocean and stars. We are already planning another Norwegian cruise. WHY CMV COLUMBUS? --Baltic sailing --Smaller ship --Price DINING --We chose the late dining option for the Waterfront Restaurant. We also took most breakfast and lunch meals at the Waterfront. The food was good and nicely presented. The pasta selections tended to be soggy or firm. Otherwise the entrees were satisfactory. The appetizers, however, were outstanding. The cafeteria on DGck 12 was always crowded, so we used it sparingly. ENTERTAINMENT --By far the best entertainment of any cruise we have taken. The small troupe of dancers and singers are exceptionally good. The comedian was outstanding too. The tenor regaled us with traditional opera as well as popular vocals. The Entertainment Team gets an A+ from us. LECTURES --On sea days we attended Power Point lectures by a Russian specialist on Peter the Great and the Romanov's as well as St. Petersburg's history and the Siege of Leningrad. She was very informative and set the stage nicely for the highlight of the cruise, namely our two days in St. Petersburg. There were other lectures and demonstrations as well, but we did not attend them. STAFF --All staff members struggle with English. It was often difficult to make our wishes know or understand them. The Reception Desk staff was very helpful however. CABIN --Out cabin steward was great, always looking after the room. 8133 is centrally located, but is above the Connextions Lounge so it could be a bit noisy at bedtime. Fortunately I have a white noise app on my phone that covered up the partying below us. WINE AND BEER --Being moderate drinkers, we opted for the on-board opportunity to purchase five bottles of wines for 85 GBP and ten beers for 49 GBP. We'd have a half bottle of wine at dinner and the Waterfront wait staff would save the other half for the next night. Occasionally we had an ala carte glass of wine for about 5.60 GBP. We did not have any specialty coffees or colas. EXCURSIONS AND PORT CALLS --We took only one CMV Columbus excursion, at Stockholm. The panorama portion of the excursion was horrible. Big bus, narrow streets, no views. But the Vasa museum was spectacular and we had plenty of time to see this amazing old ship that has been restored. ROTTERDAM. --We took the train to Delft for a self-guide tour. If you use the station nearest the ship you need correct change or else a credit card with a PIN. We walked to Rotterdam Centraal Station and took the trains (about 20 minutes). AAHRUS. --We hit stormy waters so we were diverted from Copenhagen to Aahrus, which was a pleasant surprise. Everything you want to see is just minutes from the ship and there is no need to buy an excursion. ROSTOCK. --A bust. The ship docked away from Wandemunde where you could catch a train into Rostock. A free shuttle was provided, but there was an hour and a half line to catch it. We did not go into Rostock or into Berlin (three hours bus ride each way). TALLIN. --We did this on our own. Outstanding. The old city is just a 20 minute walk from the dock. We toured both the lower and upper city and enjoyed a great lunch. ST. PETERSBURG. --We opted for a small group, private tour that cost about half of what CMV was charging and we had an outstanding time. HELSINKI. --For a small charge, I took the ship shuttle to the city center to meet an old friend. On my own. STOCKHOLM. --Too little and too far. The port time was shortened by the fact that the port is an hour away from Stockholm. And we had very limited time. Bummer, except for the Vasa museum. COPENHAGEN. --Rain, rain, rain. Plus very little port time. Just about the time the rain stopped we had to leave. More time needed. SEA DAYS --Two of our sea days were stormy and the ship rocked and rolled. It caused a three hour delay into Tillbury on the last day. EMBARKING AND DISEMBARKING Perhaps our best ever embarking and worst ever disembarking. We walked on quickly on Day 1. On the last day there was mass confusion, missing signs, and a traffic jam that prevented us from express embarking. Fortunately our hired car waited an hour overtime for us, but we had to pay an extra 20 GBP because of the ship's incompetence. Certainly they have had late arrivals before and ought to know what to do to relieve the chaos. They seemed clueless. Read Less

Carpet stained, cigarette burns on bathroom sink, shelves not clean. Not much activity going on during the day. Twice I went to watch activity but no one showed up. Not ships fault, think more weather related and port call. Not happy with 2 immigration days nor was it for most passengers from what I heard. Should have done all Canadian ports at one time. This was my 15th cruise on RCCL and as always, the crew and service people were great. I ate most of my meals in Windjammer as I spent too much time at happy hour and missed my designated meal time. After 18 NCL cruises we decided this was the worst one! The problem of being on so many cruises with NCL creates an automatic comparison on overall and on particular events. Lets face it the cruise director and his second banana are beginners in training. The design of the Breakaway type ship does not help either. While the epic / pearl type had the Spinnakers for dancing and general use and many smaller sites The Breakaway type uses the Atrium for everything creating an unwanted congestion and tremendous lack of seating. Many of the events at the Atrium could have been done at the theater. The dancing / music selection/ bands/ singers/ dance classes were worst ever! If you compare Judy at the Pearl , her effort , her attention to details, her understanding of advice with these beginners there is NO COMPARISON.. The cruise director does not know how to do his job. Most if not all entertainments events were packed into a non functioning 45 min time. So how you develop the feel for dancing if you only get 10 songs? Variety does not means more entertainment! They teach a class of Latin music and then THERE IS NO MORE OF THAT MUSIC ON BOARD TO PRACTICE?..come on ... I brought my tablet on some empty places and danced on my own and after a while others joined in ?..Why do not play dancing music all the time at empty salons?..maybe because NCL does not makes money selling booze?. The food selection at the buffet was also inferior to ALL THE OTHER CRUISES.! At Moderno we found a new species of cows.. Filet mignon with veins and fat? The manager and food servers handled our complaints very well / but why cheat on the quality? Does the CEO wants more money? Probably this was the last cruise at NCL!.. sorry for that. Read Less

First time on mega ship, and came away very happy. A lot of people, but somehow we hardly encountered any long lines. Lots to do on a ship this size, so we kept busy. Our only issues would be that a few (very few) employees did not put on a happy face. It's as if they do not want to be there, but you can encounter that anywhere you go. My biggest complaint is the they have 12 elevators on each floor, and with that many people, why are not all of them operating at the same time? It appeared that only 6 were working at all times. But if that is my only beef, seems trivial. Foul weather made up most of our 7 days at sea, but you cannot fault Allure for that. Also, kudos to the Captain and Crew for their parking job in Nassau. Quite a feat with the wind and all. Cabin was a bit small, but comfortable. Specialty dining was pretty good, with 150 Central Park being by far our favorite, as we tried 4 of the restaurants. All in all, I would suggest this ship, just be careful of doing so in September. Read Less

We spent a day in London with a guide and visited Stonehenge on the way to the ship. We were delayed and embarkation was easy as most were already aboard. Our tour guide arranged all of our excursions and disembarkation. The ship is ok but needs updates. We were told that it was going to dry dock the first of the year for refurbishing and updating. Do not purchase a balcony toward the aft of the ship or on the 11th floor. We had the last aft balcony on the 11th floor and the room was tiny. I was traveling with a friend and the twin beds were about 2" apart. That was not acceptable and we had the steward move the sofa sideways so we could be at least 10" apart. We could barely move around the room. There was very adequate closets and drawers for all of our vacation necessities. The noise from the Galaxy Room, where all entertainment and dancing occurred, was right above the room and kept me up until the place closed or the music stopped. We have a specialty dining package and used all of them at Cagney's Steak house. The steaks were excellent. The sides were ordinary but the desserts were excellent. Service at all eating venues and drinking venues was very good. Out last port of call was cancelled because of bad weather and high seas and it was a tender port. I probably would not go on this trip again because I want to see new places. I Read Less

Too crowded at times, not personalized, nothing out of the ordinary. We normally have at least have one night where lobster is offered in general dining on cruises with other carriers and it was not offered on NCL. We feel that NCL pushes specialty dining a lot to make more money rather than put money into regular dining. Regular dining was good, just not exceptional. We did always go to buffet dining for Breakfast but very crowded and no place to sit and the waiters were really not interested in serving us. We had to ask them for coffee, etc. They were not very friendly either. On other cruises the crew was always very friendly. etc. It just seemed like they were lacking in enthusiasm or whatever to wait on anyone. Maybe they are just too tired of waiting on everyone, too many people. It seemed that way all throughout the ship. Your cruise director was fantastic! Alvin was really the best! We urr were part of the Jimmy Sturr Polka Group and that was difficult also, since other than the last day of dancing, the room we had was way too small and crowded and not comfortable at all for the number of people in our group. It was not a safe environment at all! It felt like when y ou take a bunch of people and stuff them into a room and keep shoving them in until you can't get anymore in! Very disappointed in that!!! We chose this cruise because we were going to be in the Seattle area the week before and it was our 50th wedding anniversary. Our second cruise in 2019. The other cruise being on another cruise line, OCEANIA Over all I would give the Norwegian bliss a C+ We had arranged a excursion in the port of Ketchikan and due to high and rough seas we were not able to get into port. I know that the cruse line can not be accountable for the weather, but the same ship (Bliss) didn't make it into the same port the week before for the same reason, but they were willing to take our money when they knew the same thing might happen again. They also offered a NIGHT Bus excursion in the city of Victoria BC, what were we thinking?? at night in a dark bus you could hardly see the totem polls that the driver was pointing out. I guess that one is on us, but why would you offer such a excursion? The food was ok, but not great, no laundry available for passengers unless you were willing to shell out, I believe it was $15.00 per bag. I did enjoy the race track on deck 16 and wish I had gone more than once. I was told that you needed to book early as it fills up fast, didn't find that a problem. We enjoyed the musical Six on the ships stage, However we missed the musical Jersey Boys as we missed the 10:30 performance. Read Less

Embarkation was fast and efficient. Room was roomy, washroom was wonderful, dual sinks ,large shower with multiple jets. Food and entertainment was good. Speciality restaurants, Cagney’s and Ocean Blue were fantastic, great that they were benefits,. Drink package did not include bottled water, had to buy water package for the room. Drink package should include water as the trip was the Caribbean and it is hot. Smoking lounge needed better ventilation. Glad we prechoiced all restaurants, entertainment, excursions before boarding, made everything go faster. Food in the cafe restaurant was varied and had all options for choosing whatever was desired, fast service. Beautiful large ship with various play areas to enjoy. Shore excursions in Belize and Cozumel were the most enjoyable. Resort in Belize , Harvest Caye, was picture perfect, beautiful day with the amenities of a large pool area and beach. Wonderful seven nights , food and entertainment cruise. Read Less

Saw an add, took a chance. Did not regret it! Yes, there is probably more luxurious etc., but this was absolutely wonderful for my husband and I. The Freestyle model is great. The staff detail on cleanliness was very appreciated. They watched, just like they should, over patrons and ensured that everything met expectations. I would probably ask for a Wi-Fi package next time but it is really expensive. I would recommend that soft drinks be available at the Raffles buffet. Having to visit the bar for a Pepsi or Ginger Ale is not necessary. We were disappointed by the lack of recycling facilities for plastic, paper. Nowadays, it should be standard. It probably is hard onboard a ship, but still, a little effort would go a long ways. Perhaps public places where people could drop the recycling. The ship is not new but has a warm, inviting atmosphere. Again, the cleanliness is worth mentioning. It is not one of the larger cruise ships but I liked it that way, not too intimidating for a first time cruiser. We went to a couple of entertainment shows, quite enjoyable, very professional looking. We went to the Japanese restaurant, and the Windows restaurant. Very good food, no complaint there. The service was very good in these restaurants, and exceptional throughout the rest of the ship. We had three excursions with Norwegian: Belfast, Liverpool, Dublin. Extremely knowledgeable guides and nice buses. In Kirkwall, we disembarked through the use of tenders (small covered boats housing about 100 persons). This is an interesting experience even though one of the tenders (ours) experienced a technical problem. We were brought to the boat safely, though. We had a great time, we fully intend to use Norwegian Cruises again! Read Less

I will NEVER take another Croisi Europe cruise. I wouldn't even want it for free! The food is a sit down with a set menu and they take forever to serve (sometimes dinner could take 2 hours with over 45 minutes to get the first dish!). With regards, to the food: Zero options. I HATED the food. Every single meal was depressing. It was unhealthy, tasteless, and they kept serving pork over and over. Hardly any vegetables and when they served them they were extremely overcooked. The salad was terrible (no variety, no dressing... just horrible. Apparently, they just expect you to add salt and oil and made an exception with our table bringing some vinegar. Even the bread was bad (again, no whole wheat, rye or even good white baguette. Seriously! The desserts were also lame. The food just made me miserable. Soe dishes were even gross. For the full 11 days, I NEVER ate anything enjoyable. This was the worst cruise of my life and I have been to many. Food is such a big part of holidays and cruising. Every single other cruise I have taken I loved the food. This was just terrible. They could not accommodate any dietary restrictions even when they tried. I swear I asked for a plate of vegetables and got a sliced steamed carrot. That was my dinner. Another time, I asked for a bowl of soup and I got some hot water with some green peas floating. It was disgusting. The staff was friendly, but clearly they are understaffed. A sit-down dinner, under those circumstances, is over pretentious and impossible to deliver in a timely fashion. Needless to say a boat of senior citizens (Jews who don't eat pork, vegans, diabetic, dairy-free, etc) all ate poorly during the cruise. I was traveling with a disabled lady and the crew does not have any kind of empathy or clue on how to help. For starters, we had to tell them to reserve the front seat of the buses for excursions. The cruise animator would take us through streets or paths full of steps, even though there were other options. Another day it was super cold and we went on a little tourist train to the top of a church. I had to beg and insist for the driver to roll down the covers. We all got the flu and were sick for the rest of thetrip after being out in the cold. All I can say is that this cruise line was extremely disappointing. Read Less

On the vista all the buffet food was so terrible we couldn't eat it, it was either over cooked or just plain bad. the dinning rooms food was better but most of the nights the food was not excitable. this was the worst ship I have ever been on, most of the time they closed one buffet line and everyone had to go to the other line, which the food was so terrible we didn't eat. all the other ships I have been on had excellent food on the buffet, so what was their problem. Also they need to have one elevator just for the handicap cause people are so rude to them. we had to wait for 6 times to get my sister on an elevator cause people were so rude and wouldn't let us on they would cut in front of us. the dis embarkment went well cause we talked to the cruise director and she told us how to get my sister off in a faster way.
