Already the third winter trip with one of the old, small, listed ship of the Hurtigrute. The mood on the Norwegian coast is particularly romantic at this time: every day is like Christmas day. However, violent storms and hurricanes must be expected in winter. The MS Lofoten has no stabilizers, so the ship can have violent movement. But it is very safe! Living together on board is very familiar. The staff was always friendly and courteous even in heavy weather. Since this ship was built in 1964, the cabins are usually relatively small. Many cabins with their own bathroom with shower and toilet. The cleaning perfectly. The excellent cuisine is particularly positive. Breakfast and lunch as a self-service buffet. Dinner as a four-course menu is served at the table. The Hurtigruten shipping company offers a large number of shore excursions. A trip with the MS Lofoten is especially for people who want to take a "real" boat trip, not in a "skyscraper on water". The MS Lofoten is especially recommended for this group! Read Less

We spent the 2 weeks around New Year on this ship and were very impressed. They did a great job of the Hogmanay Party one of the best I have been to. Great Night. We will be back! Staff on the ship are 5*. I was told that they range from over 45 different countries but whoever did the hiring and training deserves a promotion. So proactive and helpful. Loved the way they take you straight from the bottom of the aircraft steps straight to the ship AND at the end of your trip Immigration is done ON BOARD before breakfast.. Very slick. No Q's at bars NEVER waited for water, bread , meals or drink to be delivered to my dinner table. How they manage to feed all those people in all the different restaurant about the same time was fantastic. Logistically amazing! Everything was so smooth you just take it for granted. Not once did I have to Q and that included going on or off the ship. Spa is nice, they do deals and I thought they were reasonable 3 treatments for £99. Don't ignore the shops on board, for some things they gave me the best prices. Try the bike rides(they have ebikes). We did 2 of the organised trips and thought they were good value, next year we will do more. Coffee in the Coffee Pot was lovely, girl who ran it knew her coffee. Loved the films on the top deck at night and one night when the weather got colder the staff turned up with cosy blankets - without being asked, how nice was that! As I said....we will be back! The MSC Armonia is my best cruise experience! It was very easy embarkation to the ship. The ship was very beautiful, clean, crews were very helpful and professional. The crews make an effort to make sure the quests are comfortable. This was a Christmas cruise and every activity was very fitting to the occasion. There was so much excellent activity onboard, that if you choose not to leave the ship, you would have been totally taken care of and Happy! I have a gluten free diet and every evening the Jason Bolland, from South Africa, the head waiter made sure that my diet was gluten free. They went the extra mile for every guest. Ms. Mihaela Miclea, from Romania, the assistant Photo manager gave me an offer I couldn’t refuse. She does an excellent job. She has an excellent way of doing her job. My cabin was cared for by Marvin from the Philippines, he is the best. He made my wife and I feel like he was apart of our family. He made our cabin up 2 to 3 times daily. He always appear very happy and everyone loves him. The cruise director and cruise really make this cruise experience a 10 out of 10 experience. I would recommend this cruise to everyone. We will do this cruise again soon. Read Less

Christmas is a difficult time with having step-families, and families unable to get together on Christmas Day, so we decided this year to do something different. We're in our autumnal years and don't do the Christmas hype, so it was brilliant to find a cruise that had us sailing away over that time - no stress! We love this idea so much we have booked another one, with Princess Cruises, for next Christmas / New Year. We are heading to New Zealand. Another thing we loved about this cruise was that it was out of Perth and we didn't have to fly anywhere; not that we mind, as a cruise is always worth it. As a writer, I find there were so many places on board to write. And looking at the beautiful ocean is very cathartic. Who wouldn't be inspired to write their next novel? The dining rooms were excellent, and the general eating area was good too. Food was in plentiful supply, so I'm thankful for elasticated waists and loose clothing! And for not having to shop, prepare and cook for over two weeks ... and at Christmas. LUXURY! The staff were incredibly friendly, yet professional, in everything they did. I also noted many acts of kindness to the very senior people on the cruise, of which there were quite a few. They were a great bunch, reliving their teenage years I think! There was a real mixture of passengers; quite a few families, and extended families as well. The Christmas spirit was alive, and the ship was decorated beautifully. Do yourselves a favour and book a cruise. You'll love it. Read Less

It wasn't our first choice, but I am soo happy with this cruise and the experiences we shared. Leaving and coming back to Sydney Harbour was like night and day. Leaving the port was smooth as the seas beneath us. The ship is magnificent and should be explored in great detail. The cabins are adequate and will serve you well. The food is delicious, not one desire was left unfulfilled. Entertainment was amazing, such a wide selection of shows, movies, and games. If you are strong, turn off your phone and allow the captain to take you on your journey. You will find all the answers you seek if you aren't afraid to follow your pain. If you are reading Captain Nicholas, please employ a maître d' for the disco, the DJ's need all the help they can get. Thank you so very much Celebrity Solstice, till we meet again. Read Less

We sailed onboard the Solstice to New Zealand form Sydney. Wow what a cruise! It really is for all ages and plenty of things to do for everyone. On the ship itself there was no fault I found, the staff were excellent and the restaurants were amazing. We had Christmas Dinner at Tuscan Grille and NYE dinner at Murano. If you get a chance, I would highly suggest going to the specialty restaurants, they were really top-notch quality. Our cabin was a Ocean-View stateroom, however I bid for a Balcony Stateroom and received the upgrade. Travelling with my family, we got to explore such beautiful sights of New Zealand, and we thoroughly enjoyed Celebrity. The entertainment was phenomenal, being a dancer for 17 years, I loved the shows in the theatre, and I would highly recommend anyone to go see, even if you are not one to go to a musical, anyone will love it. I guarantee it! We did only one shore excursion which was the Dunedin Castle Experience where we ate Haggis and drank Whisky - Very entertaining, you have to go, its a must! Well done Celebrity for the amazing trip of a lifetime. Read Less

We decided on Cunard as P&O have gone so far downhill,it’s not an option anymore. We are lucky enough to have suites when we cruise and boy do Cunard treat you well. The cabin at the back of the ship was clean and spacious. We dined in the queens grill, where you have your own table and nobody else ever sits there,it’s yours for the duration. The waiter we had was second to none and the more we got to know him,the more we had a great laugh with him.The food was excellent, I pre ordered as I’m pescatarian but also have a wheat intolerance, they did however slip up once and gave me a naan bread, which when I asked if it was wheat free, the waiter came over and whisked it off my plate, they couldn’t apologise enough,I think the chef was given a talking to but neither my husband or myself ever had a bad meal. Even the buffet was excellent,we had lunch there some days, again,on P&O it was a battlefield,I think some people think the food is going to run out and it was horrific, the shoving and pushing but on Cunard there was none of that,it was a delight, just a different clientele altogether. Being in a queens grill you also have a private bar area, which is fabulous, free coffee and usually plenty of room,we used this a lot Drinks are a little overpriced but when you add up the free coffee and the complimentary drinks in your cabin then it does even out,we got as much bottled water as we wanted and there was soft drinks and lager too The ship itself was spotless, not much in the way of shops unfortunately,in fact there was very little We have already booked for next Christmas and New Year and can’t wait Read Less

It sounded like fun to sail away for the Christmas holiday but it was last minute and many cruises were booked. Along comes Costa with their fantastic itinerary and price. I read many negative reviews before sailing but I am here to tell all of you and especially those of you in the US, not to pay attention to the negative reviews. Embarkation was the fastest we have had out of 6 cruises including Norwegian, Royal Caribbean, Holland America, Carnival and MSC. We arrived about an hour after they said we could embark and got right on the ship with no waiting. Our room key was in the room so we went directly there and while checking out our cabin, the suitcases were delivered! The balcony cabin on deck 7 was like any other balcony cabin room we have had however there was much more storage space on Luminosa. The ship is immaculate at all times. We had a service problem with the only American electric outlet in the room but it was fixed immediately. Entertainment crew does their best to get everyone involved. There is sometimes a language barrier but it wasn't an issue. Our one and only issue was that the cruise director spoke mostly in Italian and when he spoke in English it was so rushed we couldn't understand. Food was outstanding. The buffet is open several hours a day. The restaurant was entertaining. Excursions were well organized and we enjoyed our very much. Disembarkation was organized and very fast. All in all, we had a wonderful time on Luminosa and it was a terrific value for the money! Read Less

Have heard about crystal and decided to try it out. Previously we had done a Viking river cruise was NOT excited about that and were reluctant to do another river cruise but thought we would. we boarded the ship in Budapest. We spent time there before cruising on up the Danube. I won't bore you with the daily stuff but suffice it to say we enjoyed all of the excursions and side trips they offered. All high quality, staffed by knowledgble guides. Every off ship event was well worth it. Suite we had suite 315. These suites are very cozy, read modest in size, but very well laid out. The spaces were well planed. Night time lighting etc allows for night time visits to the bathrooms etc while not disturbing sleep. Initially we thought oh boy this is a small space for I am 6'2" weigh in at 220 so I am not a small guy. It was fine. we were seldom in the room for daily we were off ship and nighttime in the bar or restaurant The ship has laundry facilities to handle your need Butler and housekeepers great. They are basically out of Romania and there english language skills are very very good. A heck of a lot better then our Russian. Entire crew was spot on attentive met every possible need you could request. Food was very good. I did not lose any weight on the trip and that is their fault. They should have limited the amount of food that I was offered. Breakfasts solid, lunch seldom eaten for we were on tours daily. Dinners fun and very good. We like that the program allows you to sit with or without others Entertainment This was really a highlight. The off ship excursions to get some dance opera orchestras really good. They has special events just for Crystal on more than one occasion. At night in the bar they would have local talent board the ship which was outstanding. This versus having the same folks deliver a different rendition of what they did the night before. A lot of fun with audience participation if desired. This was a great Speakers Crystal brought in outside speakers for your information pleasure. All were very knowledgable and helpful to get a real understanding of the regions we were traveling thru. fitness. They had a small area for this but hey not is a small boat and you could walk daily for exercise but there is equip there including a rowing and walking and gym equip So that is the reason for a not perfect score Spa they had a massage lady who was good As a result of this trip this line will be taking us on a cruise in 2021 into the Adriatic abut their small yacht. so we have cruised the following lines Silverseas Love them have done many cruises with them and have several in the cue within the next year. However they have been sold so we are watching the service and will keep our options open if the service declines oceania. Lots of solid food which is very nice but I certainly don't need anymore of that. The ship was tired but again this was 1 1/2 years ago they may have refurbished by now. Probably not going to use them again Regent Very good experience on them. However the boat had a large asian contingent. That can cause issues with cuisine differences and experiences desired along with language gaps. We were told that regent is marketing to the growing asian markets. Seaborne. Wouldn't set foot on one of their ships again . We did the southeast asian trip 2 years ago had issues brought them to the management attention and they didnt even bother to respond. We were one of 3 couples traveling together and we all said never again. and let e tell you we all had BIG SUITES. Dreadful Viking River. mentioned in the report that we did them once out of Switzerland. Tours poor food OK sedentary overweight passengers who spent the days sitting around the ship eating and reading books. They treated the boat and a place to sit and eat all day for it doesn't cost anymore than getting off. So we spent Christmas and New Years on the boat. it was very very memorable and the standard has been set very high. So right now we are very high on Crystal and Silverseas. The difference is the ship size on being 500 the other 1000. We will be looking at Crystal for future larger ships also Read Less

We sailed the December 22, 2019 to Jan 5, 2020 Caribbean Connoisseur cruise. I have always wanted to sail on the Pacific Princess since I was a little girl watching the Love Boat. Although it isn't the same boat as the show, Pacific is a beauty! We enjoyed a smaller ship. It was easy to get around and find places to read, have a nice conversation and just relax. We liked that we could mingle with other guests and really get to know people. It was two weeks of Heaven! The food was great, the service was fantastic and the itinerary was out of this world!! I would highly recommend sailing on a smaller ship. Loved it!! It was definitely an older crowd which was not an issue for us at all. We really liked a more personal cruise and made some lovely new friends of all ages. We would have liked some more up to date music and offer activities for those of us in our 30's and 40's. We heard lots of music from the 50's and 60's which wasn't terrible but some more variety would have been nice. Check in was easy and friendly. We got right to our cabin but we did have to bring up our own luggage which was odd but we at least had it right away. I guess this isn't the norm but we were one of the last few to board and it was only around 1:00-1:30pm. Our cabin was clean and adequate. The closet was small for a two week cruise but we managed and utilized the desk drawers and cabinet next to the closet. The balcony was a good size for the two of us. The bathroom is typical...small but does the job. The hair dryer is attached to the wall above the toilet. A little strange but it worked fine. The buffet area was easy to navigate and had lots of choices most days but it was very hot in there most of the time. Sit on the side where the coffee bar is, it is a little bit cooler on that side. The staff there was very friendly. There were many choices for breakfast but it seemed to be nearly the same each morning. Sit down breakfast is available in the main dining room on non port days or when the ship pulls into port later in the morning/early afternoon. Lunch in the buffet had lots of choices from hot items like fish, chicken wings, various salads (warm and cold), sandwiches, soups, rice dishes, vegetarian choices, desserts including ice cream and lots of other items. We had late seating in the main Dining Room. Food was good and service was great! We really enjoyed our table mates as well. We had lots of fun every night. The ship was recently dry docked. I thought the decor was tasteful and elegant. The grand staircase is lovely. The ship seemed to be in good shape and all areas were clean. The best part of a small ship is no crowded areas, very few lines anywhere (if any at all), places to sit around the pool as well as other common areas. The library was well stocked as well as the card room. There were always seats for the movies and shows in the Cabaret Lounge. The Pacific Lounge was my favorite as it had great views from just about everywhere and there were plenty of places to stay cool and sit and read on a hot port day or play trivia with new friends. If you're a gambler, be advised the casino is very small but again, it wasn't usually very crowded and the bar was a generous size. There is a piano entertainment area just around the corner so you can listen to music and play 3 card poker or the slots! They also have bingo in this area on certain days. We started off as Ruby and made it to Platinum by the end of the cruise so we did do our own laundry to cut down on what we packed. There is a self serve laundry on deck 7 port side. It was right down the hall from our cabin, 7042. It takes tokens and as of our sailing, you have to get tokens from the front desk. Bring your own laundry detergent. I bring pods and some dryer sheets to cut down on costs. It's $3.00 each for a wash and dry and $1.50 for a box of detergent. We hit some rough seas on the first two sea days and it was a challenge for some. Barf bags were placed all over the ship and some passengers were not happy. It is what it is just make sure you prepare. I use scopolomine patches and have little to no issues. Many used Bonine or Dramamine and were fine. Just know this is an older smaller ship and you will feel some movement more so than on larger, newer ships. Overall we liked this cruise and got to go to many destinations we hadn't been to before. I would highly recommend the Pacific Princess if you want to try a smaller ship without the bells and whistles of the oversize mega ships. No lines, no crowds, no screaming children running wild (nothing against kids at all), no chair hogs, no crowded pool or hot tubs etc. We love Princess and we would definitely sail on Pacific Princess again if we had the chance to. This was a two week Christmas and New Years cruise Singapore to Hong Kong. We were excited to see the Millennium after her last major refurbishment in Feb. I last sailed on Millennium in 2001 and the ship was hardly recognisable. The changes were gorgeous! We were in an extra large ocean view cabin 9000. Prior to the renovation this cabin had two small sofas, after the redo just one and a chair. There was a lot of floor space (at least 225 sq ft) but I felt the two sofas would have worked better. Other than that, the cabin was fabulous! I had heard that there might be noise from the door to the bridge next to the cabin but we never heard anything. The Ship Starting at the top, the outdoor movie area was lovely and we watched one movie up there during the cruise. There was no bar service there however and I felt there should be. Also, there were many movies shown there during the day when it was much too hot. Qsine which is now only used for Le Petite Chef, is a lovely space but under-utilised. We had one specialty lunch there that was underwhelming and one night at Le Petite Chef. While entertaining, it is a one time thing never needing to be repeated. I think Qsine would be more popular. At our seating at Le Petite Chef there were only 2 tables occupied and that made it somewhat awkward. The Oceanview Cafe was wonderful. Spacious and well organised, it was the nicest I have found on any ship. We literally never had to search for a table. The redo looked wonderful except foe an unfortunate choice of fabric for the backs of many of the chairs. A light blue fabric, it was looking dirty and stained after only 10 months. The seats were vinyl and the whole chair should have been. The food was very good and varied. The outdoor seating and bar was wonderful except as others have noted, not enough shade most of the time. The pool area had plenty of seating and towels laid out on each lounger, a nice touch. However, the cushions on the seating in the smoking area on the port side was worn out and shabby. Being a big guy, i loved that the main pool had stairs to enter the pool which is way better than a ladder. The solarium was lovely but usually very hard to find a lounger. I felt they needed lounge chairs on both sides not just the port side. The Spa cafe was disappointing in its offerings. Pretty much the same selection every day and not terribly interesting. The Sky lounge up front was still large enough even after taking some of the space for the kids area on the port side. You could tell it had not been renovated but it was still lovely. The theatre on decks 4 & 5 was one of my favourites. Large and impressive, there is not a bad seat in the house. The shows however were very hit and miss. We liked the production numbers done by the entertainment staff better than the featured performers. The shops were adequate and varied but small compared to larger ships. The Apple store was disappointing. We were thinking of buying a new iPhone but they didn’t sell them! Cafe Al Bacio was lovely but hard to find tables available. We only had one coffee there in two weeks. The Martini Bar, lovely with good cocktails, was always too noisy with loud conversations. We never had a drink at Cellar Masters or ate at Sushi on 5 and felt these areas could be re-thought. On deck 4 the photo gallery was too large and a waste of space. The Retreat lounge seemed to be empty all the time too, although we obviously couldn’t use it. The casino seems bland after the redo but nice that it is non-smoking. The Rendezvous Lounge is absolutely lovely and we had drinks there several times. We felt that the band that was usually there was too loud for conversation however. We ate in the lower level of the Metropolitan restaurant which looks fabulous after the redo. We had anytime dining but went at the same time every night and had the same servers who were wonderful. We found the food to be exceptional and really make the Specialty restaurants a moot point, being overpriced and not that special. The atrium starts on deck 3 and was lovely with the amazing onyx staircase. We were only able to see and use the staircase after Christmas however since they had decorated the staircase with a Gingerbread village. It was a real miss. Other than that, the Christmas decorations were lovely and understated. The Tuscan grill on deck 3 was a bit out of the way after the addition of cabins during the redo. It’s a beautiful space however. We had one lunch and one dinner there and as noted already, not appreciably better than the main dining room so not worth it in our opinion. The itinerary was ok but we felt we didn’t need so many overnights in ports. Five ports on a 14 night cruise seems like not enough. In fairness, I have done a similar cruise before so the ports weren’t as important to me. The staff was generally wonderful and top notch! We had an Internet package which was great. We also had the Classic drink package which was fine. When the servers saw what package you had they knew what to offer you that was included. We only paid an up charge a couple times This review probably sounds nit-picky but the negatives were mostly very tiny things and we had a fabulous cruise! I wouldn’t hesitate to sail on The Millennium again for a third time! We Loved It. Read Less

We chose this cruise while on another Viking ocean cruise. We received several perks (cruise credits for current & future cruise, Silver beverage package & discounts) for immediate booking. We were elated with the entire experience from start to finish! Our Viking agent helped with air transportation and notified us of any airline scheduling changes made after initial booking. The transfer from airport to ship was seamless & comfortable. We explored Valparaíso by taking the optional Artists Tour, and again we were enthralled by the kindness, quality and craft of the talented artists. Embarkation was seamless for us. Our room was ready. Our Cabin Stewards, Danica and Jeremy greeted us and introduced us to our new surroundings. They were a team that worked well together & were able to help us address minor cabin maintenance issues with immediate follow up. The Viking Jupiter is new. It is beautiful. Though we had a couple days of rough waters on the Pacific my motion-sickness prone companion did not become ill. Executive decisions were made to not complete the passage around Cape Horn and we recognized their buy in to safety first. It was appreciated by us. Whether dining at the Restaurant buffet, Mamsen’s or reserving with Manfredi’s or the Chef’s Table, our dining experiences were 5-Star. Wine sommeliers Daniel, Valaria, & Omega we’re indeed extraordinary in their descriptions of wine profiles and food matches to entice our palates. The food prep, temperature and spices were just right. Playing was beautiful. Salads were consistently fresh, flavorful and if dressed, the dressing was adequate. I personally enjoyed immensely the educational seminars by our invited educators and the historian in residence. I learned so very much about culture, economy, topography, government and their current issues. For me, this was a highlight. I’m not much into shows but I loved the classical duets and piano pieces played in the atrium. We made at least one shore excursion at every port. I appreciated the learning, though some local guides were clearly better than others. We ventured out some on our own as well, and that too made for a great cultural experience. We also tried the Nordic bathing ritual. In that hands of the Scandinavian professional, Elena (?) we learned how to relax and clean deeply. Unfortunately, the non-Scandinavian hair dresser did not know what she was doing. Her massages caused pain for some of us, and in fact one older gentleman yelped and added, “That hurt!” . It was our only “miss”. We have now signed up for 2 more Viking cruises as a result of our largely terrific experiences. Read Less

Norwegian Star Review. We have cruised with Princess, RC, Carnival, and Celebrity. This was our first cruise with NCL. We were very impressed with this cruise line. This cruise was from Dec 21, 2019 in San Antonio to Jan 4, 2020 in Buenos Aires. Embarking The embarking and debarking process are very slow. You make line after line. The terminals are in cargo piers and have to take a shuttle bus from the terminal to the ship. Dining Food at the Buffet was well stocked and organized. Food did not stand for long and they were restocking as needed. The staff was always cleaning and checking the tables at the buffet. Be advised that in this particular itinerary, especially on sea days, many passengers choose to use the buffet as lounge, going for breakfast, staying over for Wi-Fi, reading, playing cards, and go on for lunch and dinner. This makes difficult finding a place to eat at the buffet. O ’Sheehan’s gets packed during the day, many guests lounge there after dining, you may want to go early for lunch. Soft Serve Ice Cream at the buffet may be better. It melts too fast! Service at the Main Dining Room was quick and good. Best times for the MDR are before 7:00 PM. The Oriental Restaurant fills up very fast and has a 45min-1 hour wait time. If you want to dine right away, be there at 5:30 PM sharp. After that, you make the waiting list. If you do not want to make lines for dinner, the Buffet prepared themed dinners nightly with very good menu choices. Itinerary This itinerary has a comfortable pace. It allows you to rest a day before the next port. Due to the ongoing engine trouble, the ship was traveling first at 19 knots, then at 13. Our cruise shortened some port times to leave early and arrive late. The glacier scenic cruising was outstanding. The best glacier views are in the north side. Strong winds and high waves made us miss circling Cape Horn. Engine trouble delayed leaving the Falkland Islands nine hours late. The call at Puerto Madryn was canceled and it became another sea day. We only got the port fees reimbursed. Tendering is a pain. If you are not in a ship tour, or are Priority Tender, you have to run to the Bliss Lounge to get a ticket for an early tender wait in your cabin for your tender number to be called. Then walk a downstairs line to the tender. In some ports, the tender trip takes 30 minutes. Holiday Events The Christmas worship service was very good. Crewmembers organized, performed, directed, and also attended alongside the guests. One crewmember led the songs and also preached the Word as good as an ordained minister. There were Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve celebrations in various ship venues. For safety reasons, they did not shoot fireworks. When we arrived, the ship was fully decorated for the holidays and everything was removed before we disembarked. There were special menus for both Christmas and New Year holidays. Theater The shows at the theater were very good. You have to get in early to get a good seat. Even though there is a no-seat-saving policy, many guests disregarded it and saved seats for their parties. Shore Tours The San Antonio Port is two hours away from Santiago. The best way to get to and from San Antonio is to take a tour that takes you to Vina del Mar and Valparaiso in the way there. We mostly used shore tours advertised with Trip Advisor. They were better priced, have smaller groups and offered more personalized service than the ship-sponsored tours. They stick to the ship’s schedule and ensure you’re back on time. The only two ship-sponsored tours we took were at Port Chacabuco and the Iguazu Falls tour upon debarking. Climate Even though is summertime in South America, please plan for layering. Santiago, Montevideo, and Buenos Aires have summer weather. Ushaia, Punta Arenas, and The Falklands have winter weather. The other ports have Fall to Winter weather. Many guests were buying coats and sweaters on ship to bear the cold temperatures outside. Final Our experience with this NCL cruise was outstanding. We loved the “Freestyle Cruising” when you can wear anything anywhere, saving valuable suitcase space. We noticed passengers from all over the world, and from all age groups. Overall service by everyone was outstanding. We will certainly consider NCL as a future cruise option. Read Less

I’ve been on Ovation which I found too big, too busy and a bit like a Westfield shopping centre vibe and with over 4000 passengers, the queues for everything were horrendous. The Voyager was so much more fun! It’s newly refurbed or ‘amplified’ to have more fun features & we found it had just the variety and atmosphere that we love! The fittings and style were lovely and our fave bars were High Notes on Deck 14 & Sky Lounge Deck 12 followed by Schooner Bar. Music everyday, an atrium deck full of activities and a party feel, loads of cool places to sit & watch the waves. Shuffle board & Flowrider with an Ice rink & ice show - everything was great! My best advice is if you’re planning to stay in a balcony cabin, go for the extra ‘Spacious Balcony Cabin’ - the cabin itself is bigger as is the balcony. It included a 3 seater sofa bed and there was so much space without too much expense. The food on board is great but we weren’t as impressed with the specialty restaurants except for Giovanni Table which was lovely. Service was great, attention to detail was also good and my fave aspect was the adults only Solarium area which is open to the sky so no chlorine fumes like on Ovation. I’d suggest buying the KEY package. It includes your internet plus other bonuses like prioirity boarding, a nice lunch, priority tendering, farewell brekkie & fuss free disembarking among other things. It was great value for adults without kids! We loved everything about it and are already looking to book another trip on this comfortable & stylish ship! Read Less

We were on the 12/20/19 sailing of the Reflection. The itinerary had stops in San Juan, St. Thomas and Sint Maarten. We got a great deal when booking just 45 days out for a suite and booked 2111 since there was a YouTube review of that stateroom and it fit our needs pretty well since we like privacy on our balcony. Dining: We ate most meals in Luminae with the exception of the first dinner which was in Murano, and Christmas Eve dinner at Le Petit Chef. During the first lunch in Luminae the host offered 30% off of specialty dining, so I highly recommend waiting until you’re on the ship to book speciality dining nights. Murano was absolutely delicious and I highly recommend the experience. The tableside preparation of the lobster feels old school, but in the best way possible. The service like everywhere on the ship was really exceptional, especially from our waiter Oswaldo. Le Petit Chef was fun, but I wouldn’t necessarily do it again. The food was good, but like many others have said, you go for the experience rather than for the food. Luminae was outstanding. We sailed on the Norwegian Bliss in the Haven back in October and the Haven restaurant menu never changed. The food was delicious there also, but it was really nice to have variety for every lunch and dinner. We also ordered off of the main dining menu from Luminae on occasion. Cocktails: My husband purchased the Drinks and More package as an upgrade to the Premium Drinks package after we booked. It came with 2 bottles of wine which were already in our stateroom, a wine tasting on Christmas Day, $50 casino credit pp, and the minibar replenished daily. I think the Drinks and More/Premium Plus package might not have been socialized to everyone because guest services, our butler, and his supervisor didn’t seem to know much about the package. It ended up working out ok, but corporate could have been better about giving folks on the ship info about the package. World Class Bar is an absolute do not miss if you like any sort of craft whiskey cocktails. Miguel and Santos were stellar. If you’re a Sazerac fan, they make a fantastic one. We also signed up for the mixology class which was a lot of fun and really informative. We talked to them later and they mentioned that they could easily have taught a 3 hour class, and I would’ve been 100% there for it. They were a real highlight of the cruise, and were a big part of the reason I left the ship feeling like Celebrity is exactly what I’ve been looking for in a cruise line. Casino: The last night we finally made it to the casino to use our $50 free play. I ended up playing slots because I don’t know how to play any table games and won $25. I know that’s nothing to “real” gamblers, but I’m not much of a gambler. The real highlight here was Barbara who was working one of the Texas Hold ‘em tables. There was no one else at the table, so my husband sat down with his chips and Barbara very patiently and kindly explained how to play and took him through a bunch of hands. He ended up winning about $150 which paid for the Drinks and More package and then some! I wasn’t a gambler, but after that experience watching him play, I’m definitely interested in getting more into it. It was the most fun I’ve had at a casino. Staff and Service: I’ve mentioned a couple of the folks that we interacted with so far, but I can’t have a complete review without mentioning our butler Jo, room steward Sunil, Vishal who’s a waiter in Luminae, and Alina the Luminae host. We’ve been on two other NCL cruises in suites with a butler. Those experiences were good to disappointing. Jo was just spot on and nailed everything. He made sure bottles of San Pelligrino were overflowing in our room and his service was attentive without being obtrusive. His service was exactly what I hope for when I imagine what butler service might be. He really surprised and delighted us several times on the cruise and made us feel welcomed and well taken care of. Wifi: The wifi was fast and convenient on the Reflection. When I first got on I used fast.com to test the speed and got 2.2Mbps down. The upload speeds weren’t great, but wifi backups of photos could wait until I got home. I never felt frustrated by the speeds, and it was dead simple to sign on and sign off different devices. My husband and I both work remotely, so it’s really nice to know that we can go on a Celebrity cruise and not have to worry about being cut off or burning more vacation days than necessary. With the perks we got one device per person which was plenty. Excursions: BOSS Underwater - When we got to St. Thomas we met the excursion at 12pm. I can’t emphasize how nice it was to not have to be up and off the ship first thing in the morning. There was a short 20 minute boat ride out to the dive site, and after some instruction we were broken into 3 groups. Two groups snorkeled while the divers took one group on the underwater scooters. Everything about this excursion was a blast. I was glad I snorkeled before getting in the scooter since I had the chance to get comfortable in the water first. On the way back to the dock, the captain gave us a harbor tour and we saw a bunch of yachts and got some history. Maho Beach - I love planes and large machinery in general, so my husband surprised me with a trip to Maho beach to see the planes fly directly overhead. At Sunset Bar and Grill you can watch the planes fly in over the water. I really enjoyed watching the planes, but Sunset Bar and the beach itself is a mad house. There are people aggressively selling things on the VERY crowded beach, and the bar is incredibly loud. They play music everywhere and have entertainment on the stage. The food is reasonably priced though, and the service was pretty good. You have to pay to use the restroom, and it’s somehow also chaotic in there also, so I recommend going before you leave the ship for the excursion. If you like planes, it’s a must-see. If you want to chill in Sint Maarten it’s the opposite of where you want to go. Wrap up: The Reflection itself is a gorgeous ship. It doesn’t have all the waterslides and racetracks, and I think its better for it. The finishes are understated and elegant, and the staff reflects that with their service. I would go on the Reflection again and again if there weren’t so many other ships out there to try. Costs: Sky Suite - $4600 including 4 perks (wifi, gratuities, premium drinks, $300 onboard credit) plus a $350 Costco cash card Drinks and more package - $50pp - includes 2 bottles of wine, wine tasting, $50 casino credit per person, minibar setup replenished daily Murano - $50pp Mixology Class - $40pp Extra gratuities: $150 to Butler $50 to Cabin steward $20 each to select bartenders and waiters Read Less

This was my 3rd cruise with MSC and I hope there is still allot to come...Everything was excellent, cabins, food and entertainment. The staff was friendly and helpfull and we realy enjoyed the shows. Out of my view there is no option for improvement. The embarkation was quick and easy. Everthing was quickly available on the boat. My kids enjoyed all the daily activities on the deck and we as a family enjoyed the shows. The food at the buffet was excellent and there was a allot to choose from. We also enjoyed the breakfast and supper in the restaurants. The kids enjoyed the nightclub and we enjoyed the casino and lounges on board. Pomene was a great expierience and the beaches is nice and clean. The food on the Island was to die for. Allot of evert was put into it and it was easy accessable. The disembarkation went to quick and before we opened our eyes we were safe back in Durban. Thank you MSC Read Less

I've always wanted to see Greece and this price was wonderful. The tours were handled so well. Tour guides were very knowledgeable and handled my millions of questions with patience. I would recommend this tour to anyone. We had one day at sea that was rough but we survived it okay. The Christmas decorations were very tasteful on the ship. The food was superb. I loved the fact that I could try lots of different items and did not have to clean my plate or feel too full. We could order 24/7 room service which was so nice. I liked the fact we had time at each place for a little walk on our own. I very much liked the shopping on board. The onboard shopping was something to look forward to each day one hour after the ship sailed. If I did it again, I would add on a few extra days either in the beginning or at the end. I sure liked being on an adult cruise. Most folks were our age. Read Less

We chose this cruise because it was a four night cruise leaving front tampa which is the easiest port for us, because it was a Christmas cruise that still gets us home for the big day! From the very beginning it was one pleasant experience after the other. We found the entertainment to be great and plentiful. Our room steward was super, always keeping us with a bucket of ice from the first day. The food was great for the most part. Our last cruise was on the Princess line and we think their food was better but we never went hungry! The waiter was great and fast and knowledgeable. The ship was beautiful and very clean. It was a smaller ship which we actually prefer. The boarding process was smooth and efficient and the key program streamlined everything as promised! It was wonderful lying poolside in the warm sunshine listening to Christmas music. The staff truly made us feel like there was no where they’d rather be than partying with us! Read Less

Short attention span version - Fabulous! The itinerary was Buenos Aires - Miami 34-day "Grand Voyage", AKA B2B. Captain - Luci Manzi General Manager - Dominique Nicolle Cruise Director - Peter Roberts First impression: Marina is in outstanding condition. DW and I didn't observe any unsatisfactory issues as some have described. Excellent dining in GDR, Wave Grill and specify restaurants. We didn't dine in Terrace. Speaking of specialty restaurants, we had no problem obtaining additional reservations than allowed for our B3 cabin. Due to rough seas and last minute cancellations, we obtained reservations for 2 alone on 23 of 34 days. Average age of passengers Buenos Aires - Santiago de Chile was 60s - 70s. In addition, there were 27 young children. Average age of passengers Santiago - Miami was late 60s - early 80s. In addition, there were 2 young children and 2 teenagers. Zero behavioral issues due to parental control. Dress code was only enforced on a random basis. "Dressy" (sarcasm) Levis or Wranglers were allowed in GDR and specialty restaurants unless they were faded. Minimum age guideline for specialty restaurants were also ignored. For example, there were 5 - 6 children, approximate age of 5, dining in Toscana that had no interest in the food but enjoyed a lively game of hide-and-go-seek around the tables. Jumping on their chairs was also acceptable. Parents were oblivious to it all. Vero water - excellent. Sparkling and still were available. Passengers don't have access to a refilling station. Cabin attendants don't refill partially used bottles. They are replaced twice - daily in the morning and at turndown by new bottles. Additional bottles were available on request. New 4X water filtration system takes the "odd" taste out of desalinated water. In addition, most of the time the tap water was cool instead of warm. Announcements - Peter kept his 10:00 am announcements to around ten minutes most of the time, except on shore days. If you wanted more detailed info, it would be broadcast on cannel 10. The captains 12:00noon announcement was also informative but short. No problem. Noro issue first half of cruise - During Peter's announcements, he would mention that Marina was a "healthy ship" and we would do our best to keep it that way. The usual direction, wash hands often and use the sanitizers. Noro precautions second half of cruise - Pater warned that the area was notorious for noro, Extra steps were taken to prevent a potential outbreak. There were spray sanitizers provided in the cabins. Passengers using board games were instructed to return them to the front desk. Books were to be left on the tables rather than returned to the bookshelves. There we no outbreaks that we heard of. We have mainly sailed CCL and wanted to try a different cruise line. We figured a 4 day would give us a good taste of MSC. We originally booked a balcony on deck 9 then decided to bid on the yacht club experience and it was accepted. Although it was a costly upgrade it was the best experience. The private lounge, bars, restaurants and sun decks were definitely worth it. The food was not bad at all. We did not go hungry. I did not like the pizza at all. The gelato and the Specialty Coffee was very good. We decided to try the main dining room on the last evening. We were set in a quiet section and were catered to every need. This is because we were Yacht Club. One day we walked through the Calumet buffet fir lunch. While there was a great variety of food to be had and it was laid out in way that you didn’t have to wait in a long line, I was glad we had our own private area to dine. There were just too many people and children to trip over. We watched one show ‘the show must go on’ a tribute to Queen and it was nice. The theatre was large and really didn’t have any bad views. The ship was large, clean and very friendly staff. We would sail MSC again although, I think we would definitely have to sail yacht club. Read Less

My wife and I had a fabulous experience on the Crown Princess. The itinerary was amazing, visiting Princess Cays, Antigua, Barbados, St. Lucia, St. Thomas and St. Kitts. The service on board, including our stateroom steward, the staff at the International Cafe and the staff in the Michelangelo Dinning Room was excellent. The food was amazing, although the food in the Salty Dog Gastropub was disappointing. We enjoyed the Crab Shack experience. We thought the International Cafe was a great place to grab breakfast and lunch. The morning pastries were amazing! We appreciated all of the things we got to do on board including the two lectures about sharks, the gingerbread making contest and the comedy shows. We took the Ultimate Ship Tour on the final day, which was a great tour, although a little overpriced. The embarkation process was extremely fast. Although there were 3,000 passengers on board we never felt like it was crowded. I will note that the morning fitness center hours were a little limited. It didn’t open until 7 am and you could not use the treadmills until 8 am. That meant that there was a crowd for the other cardio equipment in the morning. I will also add that the drinks seemed watered down. I had straight bourbon, so it was not an issue for me, but my wife had cocktails, which seemed weak. Read Less

I was a reluctant river cruiser, but timing was right so we booked the Christmas cruise to give it a try. I can't say enough good things about the ship or the experience. My first surprise was on boarding - I couldn't get over the elegance of this ship. The public rooms are well designed and maintained. Check-in was a breeze, took about 5 minutes - enough time to begin to sip on the welcoming drink they provided while the process was completed. We had one of the "smaller" suites, and it too was elegant and more than adequate space for the amount of time spent in the room. The quality and variety of the meals was perfect - not a lot of options at dinner, but what was served was consistently very good to excellent. We also liked being able to show up whenever within dining hours and sit where we wanted. Entertainment was limited - naturally - but good nonetheless with our entertainment director/piano player. The private concert in Strasbourg Cathedral was special. The staff was amazing. Too many people to thank, but special mention to Peter the bartender, Juris who oversaw the restaurant with incredible attention to detail, and Milo who was on the restaurant staff and took good care of us. Chose the cruise as the destinations were exactly what we were looking for. We cruised from Sydney to Auckland. Stopping in Melbourne, Hobart, Fiordland scenic cruising, Dunedin, Akaroa, Tauranga and then Auckland. There were presentations on the sea days and again on your stateroom TV for all the ports how to get into the city centre and what to do there. Embarkation wasn’t as smooth as others we were left waiting for 20 minutes whilst they weren’t sure of our visas - as we are from the UK on a working holiday visa for NZ. We had any time dining which meant we could eat anywhere at any time (just not in the traditional dining room) I have coeliac disease and wasn’t sick at all, the dining staff were amazing - very welcoming it felt like all staff wanted to be there and loved their jobs. Staff ranged in all ages not many teenagers which was a refreshing change. We had one excursion in Akaroa to swim with dolphins which was awesome. The fitness centre was brilliant all brand new equipment, could have done with no air conditioning - it was always so hot in there. All in all a fantastic cruise and we have booked again with Princess. Read Less
