My husband and I did a 7 day cruise aboard the Celestyal Crystal on October 21 - Eclectic Aegean. Neither of us are travel agents. It was their first cruise to include Istanbul and that was the main draw for us. I was a bit apprehensive after reading all the negative reviews, so boarded with low expectations. We have cruised three times before - Royal Caribbean (Symphony of the Seas to Mexico), Princess - Diamond ( to Alaska) and Norwegian Jewel (Baltic). It is true that the cabins are smaller than average, so we booked a junior suite and it was very comfortable for the both of us. In fact we found the cabin to be very conveniently configured and it was clean, well maintained and looked new. Our cabin steward, Shafique told us that the junior suites had been remodeled just a year ago. The food was good - it could have used a little more variety but we never went hungry. The chef went out of his way to prepare some special Indian meals for us and a few other passengers, which we appreciated very much. The shows were good and there were plenty of onboard activities to keep us all entertained. There were excellent singers, musicians and the on-board lecturer - Caroline was outstanding and we enjoyed her lectures very much. The included shore excursions were also quite good and we could not really complain. There is a very small room for children's activities but I don't really think there was anything worthwhile for the kids to do. We had no children with us and there were very few on board. I don't think this is cruise for you if you want a really good children's program. This is NOT a cruise for you if you are looking for midnight buffets etc. In fact, for passengers wanting ice cream, pizza or anything outside of the what is served during mealtimes (breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner) costs extra. Which was a first for us. But we were not hungry in-between meal times so this did not upset us in the least. This is also not a cruise ship if you want to use the pool. The pool is very small. The gym is also quite small, I used it once but the rest of the time we were docked and out sightseeing. Our itinerary was port intensive. The embarkation process at Pireus was a nightmare but the disembarkation was a breeze! The staff were wonderful and did their very best to accommodate everyone and take care of their passengers. I would not hesitate to sail on the Celestyal Crystal again. Read Less

We choose this cruise for the Europe destinations. Rome was great to see when we first got there, a little crowded, but were told it's worse in the summer months. The cruise terminal is a long ride, but we had a private transfer which made it nice. The embarkation seemed like we were in a third world country. Pop up tents and metal guard rails in a parking lot, but it went pretty smooth compared to the looks. We always select a jr suite for the spacious room and this one didn't disappoint. The first night however we found that our stateroom, (1078) was directly below the wind jammer which they start preparing at 3:30am, (every morning like clock work) and the carts running back and forth wake me up. So much for paying more for a suite. The cruise ship is a smaller one, so not as many options for sea days and after shore excursions. It was nice, but you can tell it's older and there was a sewer smell on the 10th floor for the entire cruise. Our cabin was great and outside of the noise that started at 3:30am every morning we had no issues. All the staff were great, (as always) and we never needed for anything. The food was as expected in the wind jammer, just luke warm, but this has been our experiences for all cruises. We ate at Tides dinning room one night and it was great. Chops Grill, was not any good on day 2, Rib eye steak was rubbery, but medium well and lobster was mushy. You can tell this food was pre cooked, then heated up and not what we expected for additional paid dinning. Giovannis was great on day 6 where I had the filet and my Wife had a seafood dish. We did not do much of the entertainment or shows outside of the movies in the cinema and on the pool deck. This cruise had very few kids/families so there weren't a lot of kids running around the pool deck, mostly adults, which was great. All staff were courteous and nice and always looking to help out. Ports and shore excursions. We did all our own shore excursions with our travel agent. Mykonos, Athens and Santorini Greece were all fabulous and as expected with the views and scenes just like the post cards. Our excursion in Athens was canceled upon our arrival, so we did the hop on hop off and spent almost the entire day at the Acropolis which is awesome. Malta was not so good. We paid for the Blue Grotto and Marsaxlokk tour, which come to find out is a fishing village and it's like a flea market that sells fish and souvenirs. They dropped us off for 1.5 hours and said to be back at the bus, then it started to rain. When we got to the Blue Grotto, it was closed, so all we could do was eat and get back on the bus. The stops in Sicilly, Naples and Rome were great and other than my Wife shopping and spending lot's of money, they were as advertised as well. Read Less

Our friends had planned to go on this cruise and invited us. We have no regrets, the crew were pleasent, helpful, and very friendly. There was always something going on. Day and night. We very much enjoyed your band Paridise band. The music was fantastic, they sang a wide variety of songs, country, rock, oldies, blues no end to what they would sing. They were very friendly band members would include viewers to participate my husband really enjoyed that. We would listen to them till 1am. People were dancing, children were dancing . Just all aropund great time. We spent alot of time in pool also.Would get busy at times but always was room for more. We met some very nice people and no one got upset if they would get splashed. There was also raffles that gave away perfumes, men's cologne, men's and lady watches. They even gave away a passport pandora charm that I was lucky enough to win . It is a wonderful memory and addition to my braclet. I have to say out of the three cruise I have been on this was my best Read Less

Chose cruise as it was after operation and before chemotherapy. And you never know. We had the 5 ultimate dining pkg as an inducement and the 2 for latitudes platinum. We ate well. Liked the old decor of last year before refit. But did like sub chargers in room and lights. Two pride of America cruises under our belts so old hat. Captain of jewel stayed further out from napali coast than pride of America did. But he was a nubie on this cruise in Hawaii. Did not like air package travel to airport at end of cruise when they expected to take us to airport in morning and wait all day for 8:55 pm flight. No option to opt out and get 40 dollars they charged so we found luggage storage at terminal and took bus w/o Waikiki for day. Roberts Hawaii big bus picked us up for about 32 dollars and took us to airport from cruise terminal. We were only couple on full size bus. Read Less

To start..the boarding process was easy. $15 per bottle of alcohol to bring onboard..total crock! Getting into our room was easy..getting our bags delivered to the room took forever..thought our bags had been lost it took so long and we tipped the guy at the terminal. Food that was available was a buffet..no pizza place. That would be the Biggest disappointment of the entire cruise..I've been on 2 other cruises..the Pizza place was my #1 spot..pizza whenever you want it..not This cruise..pizza was offered at very limited times and it wasn't very good. Only late night option was a Sports bar or Room Service that costs $8 every time you utilize that..pathetic! That was another change from previous cruises..room service was included! Every person is charged $15 per day on the cruise that covers gratuities..was not aware of this fee that was created mid 2019. The promotions given were very hard to take advantage of..free excursions..hard to sign up for and very limited options. Have basic options like bike/scooter/ATV rentals..not many people want to be guided..give us the way to see more and take advantage of our time while visiting. The special dining was the highlight of the cruise..we did Hibachi and Cagneys Steakhouse..Solid!! The chefs from Hibachi were great..put on a fun dinner! Final stop of the cruise was cancelled because it was "too" windy..we go to our balcony..barely any winds..turned out to be a beautiful day..but we get another "Fun day at Sea" This cruise was to celebrate our Honeymoon. Neither one of us had ever sailed Norwegian Cruise Line so we were excited to embark on something new for both of us! Unfortunately it was a huge letdown. Do not plan to sail Norwegian again! Getting off the boat was very easy. Read Less

We liked the itinerary and were keen to discover a new ship. Our initial impression of the ship was it was well refurbished although the cabins were small they were well laid out and had plenty of storage. We had a balcony cabin which had a kettle and a fridge which both came in handy during our voyage. The cabins were well serviced in line with other cruise ships. There are lots of restaurants on board that you pay extra for. We were happy with the buffett and main dining room and only ate at the blue lagoon restaurant on one night. The price of the drinks and coffees and cakes were very reasonable. The size of the ship was great and we were able to find our way around very quickly. The staff were very attentive and helpful although many needed to practice their English a bit more. We would comfortably go on the ship again if the itinerary was to our liking. It was great to see the other passengers who were well into their 70s and 80s enjoying all the facilities including the water slide spaAnd swimming pool. We didn’t go to the shows however the feedback was very positive. Definitely targeted towards the over 60 cruiser. We would recommend the ship those who had not cruised before all the looking for a relaxing holiday where they could enjoy a few drinks and have a swim in the pool. As this was a re-positioning cruise I am guessing that is why there was very little entertainment on board including music during the day. Read Less

The ship and staff were great. Food was fantastic and entertainment top notch. J.C. the cruise director was great as was Marc production cast director and the production cast. Room steward Jun was amazing. We received excellent service in all venues. The NCL shore excursions were exactly as described and we'll done. The service desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Overall, this was our best NCL cruise ever, number 11. Our embarkation was non eventful and we walked right on, our disembarkation was the same. We recommend coming to Venice a few days early to explore the city and take care of any jet lag as there is little down time during the cruise. We feel we got value for our travel dollar. We strongly recommend this itinerary, we are thinking it will change a little next year as the Venice cruise restrictions required the skipping of Motor, but we never missed it because of the superior ship and crew. Every staff member was very helpful, knowledgable & friendly. Food was delicious. We took advantage of the specialty restaurants, which was great to have a bit more quiet, romantic time. We particularly enjoyed The Bistro restaurant. My husband was very impressed with his steak dinners! Cooked with perfection. Drinks were made perfectly. Excursions were amazing! Even the weather co operated! only one rainy day which was fine for exploring the boat as there was so much to see & do on it! Enjoyed the Beatles tribute. Loved the musical Priscilla of the desert! Costumes were incredible! The excursions had a wide variety of options of places to see & things to do. Truly a trip of a lifetime! We definitely will consider another cruise in the near future! Highly recommend this ship & this company! Read Less

Wants initially excited about the early flight, however it turned out to be great as the terminal was not at all crowded and we were able to get right through customs. We had a mini sweet with a balcony and it was amazing ! I couldn’t imagine having an inside room. The ocean breeze and sounds at night were spectacular ! Our deck help was amazing, very nice and social! Our room always looked great ! We had our laundry done and he made sure we had it quickly as we needed some of it for that nights dinner ! The activities at night were a lot of fun ! We did not travel with children so it was nice to find places in the ship that were adult only during the day ! The staff were extremely nice and helpful, all the food/dining area was great, the shows were out of this world, and I just had the most amazing time. There was always something to do on the cruise as well. My friends and I, not once were bored at the cruise ship. We had a great time going to the salsa classes, partner shows, 5’clock somewhere bar was the enjoyable karaoke nights, or just chill and enjoy the view by the pool deck. Oh and let me mention, the music was always on point, from playing known classical, to some reggae to dance to. I literally had the time of my life. I don’t think I’ll ever go on a different cruise, Norwegian is the one to pick. Trust me on it!!!!! Read Less

This cruise eliminated all of my concerns. The balcony room had plenty of space for two and I did not feel closed in. I loved being in Bermuda for 3 days instead of rushing back to the ship everyday. It was beautiful and easy to get around. All of the staff on the ship are great and made the trip perfect. We decided to pay a little more to receive the free drink package and the specialty dining - they were well worth every penny. Our favorite restaurants were Cagneys & the Bistro. As far as the food goes... Everything was delicious and it was great to eat whenever & wherever we wanted to. I truly enjoyed all of the entertainment, it was spectacular. My only complaints would be the crying baby in the next cabin (I don't understand bringing a baby on a cruise) and the smoke in the casinos. We will definitely plan another cruise. Maybe adult only next time. We don't need the water slide. We spent alot of time in the Adult only section - H2O - Elninho Rodrigues was great. He kept the drinks coming and had a great personality. He always remembered our names and looked for us when we were there. Read Less

My husband and I were on the Carnival Magic for the second time (first was August 2018). We took this cruise to celebrate both our 45th birthday. This was our 11th cruise, 10 with Carnival and 1 with RCCL. Overall ship maintenance. 1. The most important issue (I think) comes from the A/C system! We've been roasting in our cabin, mislead by the guests service who called maintenance even though, that we learned later, they knew it wouldn't be fixed. Other passengers complained about it too and we all been told the problem would be fixed the next day but never happened. There were also some public areas where the A/C was barely to not working at all. Again, when people complained they were told that there was no problem! 2. This ship is way more rusty than all other ships we've been on, regardless of the class and age (we've been on Fantasy class, Conquest class and Dream class). 3. Throughout the week we could smell sewage odor in differents part of the ship. The first evening it was stronger in the Atrium and when guests service crew were asked about it they pretended not to smell anything and reply they would send someone to spray with air freshener! 4. Windows were so dirty that we couldn't take pictures through it. In the past we could see crew members hanging around the ship at every port of call to clean the windows and ship. By the amount of grime accumulated it seems like it's been a while since they did. 5. In the Lido dinning room, over the tables, there is air vents with nothing to prevent dirt from falling. Food and drink... 1. We noticed a very big decrease in the quality of the food. I'm not saying the food was not good but the quality and taste in general wasn't what we normally see with Carnival. On the other hand we tried the steakhouse for the first time and it was amazing! 2. The water available on the Lido from the drink fountains tasted terrible and the limonade was way too strong. We've been drinking the ships water and limonade since our first cruise and never experienced something like that. 3. For the first time on any of our Carnival cruises, the service in the dinning room was average, at best. We experienced on our previous cruises excellente and personnalized service but on this particular one we felt neglected and rushed. Housekeeping 1. Our stateroom stewart was really nice and was doing a great job. When we told her about the room temperature she managed to find us a fan despite being rare due to the large number of cabins with A/C issues. She even wrote a special note on the mirror for our birthday. 2. From the public restrooms to the dinning rooms and the corridors, everything was really clean. Entertainment and activities 1. The playlist production team was fantastic. It was their first week on the Magic and we couldn't notice any hesitation or discomfort between them. 2. The Cruise Director, Leigh, was doing a great job. He is enthusiastic and easy to approach. 3. We tried to go to the Punchliner comedy club 2 or 3 times but the club was already packed 30 minutes prior to the show or the line up to get in was so long we coudn't get in. Ports of call 1. Half moon cay, as always is a nice stop. It's a perfect beach and relaxation day. The only thing I would say is there is not enough umbrellas. 2. Grand Turk was also really great. It's a really great place for people who enjoy snorkeling without spending big money on an excursion. 3. Amber Cove is a beautiful place with a pretty nice pool area. There is 2 waterslides that you can access for free and a zipline for which you have to pay. In conclusion, I do not recommend the Magic until it has undergone major work. As for the ports of call, if you enjoy a lot of beach and pool these places are for you! Read Less

The package included a specialty dinner, ultimate beverage package, bus ride to and from port, and onboard credit. We couldn’t turn it down. It was a great choice. We enjoyed every minute. Service and food were second to none. One thing we wished for was a second adults only pool. The one was always very crowded so to cool off my husband and I opted to go in the rock rain forest on the “spice H2O” deck. It was great also. Entertainment was fabulous. We enjoyed a lot of stuff but honestly because we work so much... we cherished the rest and relaxation and alone time with each other. We're Carnival Cruise regulars - gold status - and just returned from a fabulous cruise to Montego Bay, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel on Sunday, after first spending a week in New Orleans. The ship is definitely showing signs of age and wear, but who cares when the crew members are amazing, helpful, and downright friendly. From Made, our cabin steward (Deck 8, forward), to the staff at Guest Services, EVERYONE, bar none, was delightful, courteous, and seemed genuinely interested in assisting their passengers. We usually plan our own excursions, but went with Carnivals top-rated ones for each post on this cruise, and I'm so glad we did. The jeep tour in Montego Bay (with crazy man Kasha driving) was informative, scenic, and better than the "Indiana Jones" ride at Disneyland!!! We saw beautiful scenery, stunning hidden waterfalls, and experienced a monsoonal downpour - and Kasha kept the jeep up on all four wheels for the duration! The kayak tour and swimming with stingrays in Grand Cayman was a blast too - stingrays really are just "sea puppies" and thrive on love and attention. And Cozumel, one of my favorite ports, was amazing as usual - started the day with a taxi ride into town for some much-needed shopping (spent two hours in Los Cincos Soles (The Five Suns)) and made it back to the ship just in time for our scheduled Champagne Elite Catamaran tour, which was THE best snorkeling excursion I've ever been on - including those experienced on the Hawaiian islands. You can't have a bad snorkeling experience in Cozumel, but the boat's crew had us feeling like family after four hours - they fed us (way too much) the most delicious and home-made food (don't even get me started on the guacamole!) and plied us with alcohol - as much as you could drink - and other tasty beverages. Just typing this has me yearning for more - time to plan my return trip to New Orleans and another cruise on the Glory ASAP! Read Less

I’ll admit, this was my first cruise so maybe I don’t have anything to compare it to but I came away from this cruise totally thrilled. Sure there were hiccups, it was the inaugural cruise, but the very good far outweighed the bad. The Sky Princess is gorgeous, especially the piazza. Our cabin with balcony was more spacious than I expected with tons of storage facilities. Our steward was awesome and made me laugh the way he set out my pajamas each night. Thanks Ivan. I have never had service this amazing before. The food was fantastic. The bars, especially Vines, was also fantastic. I loved their wine flight. Embarkation and disembarkation were a breeze. I had done my homework and was “ocean ready”. I had no problems with the medallion and I liked the bookmarking feature for daily events. I barely looked at the Patter. Entertainment was fantastic, especially the Rock Opera show on our last evening. The costumes and music were broadway quality. We did one ship’s shore excursion to Amalfi and while crazy expensive, it was very well done. I have motion issues and was concerned about that, but I almost forgot I was at sea, I felt very little motion at all. Smooth sailing. I was very sad to leave this lovely ship. I’d go back in a heartbeat! Read Less

We have taken river cruises but never an ocean cruise. We traveled with a group and this was the ship the travel agent booked. Because we booked last year our cruise allowed us to choose from three free amenities. We chose the Unlimited Drink Package (which DOES NOT include bottled water) and the Gratuity Package, both saving us a lot of money. Everything went smoothly from the minute we stepped foot onboard to the minute we disembarked. The ship itself was spectacular - every detail we could imagine was taken into account. Our mid ship balcony suite was a great size. The bathroom was remarkably roomy; we had plenty of closet space and the bed was extremely comfortable. We loved sitting on our balcony to enjoy our morning coffee or an evening glass of wine. We purchased a 3-meal specialty restaurant package which turned out to be a great value*. We enjoyed all of the other restaurants onboard and the entertainment provided was first class. We had a wonderful experience with bartenders, cleaning crews and servers - everyone seemed happy and were very accommodating. If we travel again we would book an "adults only" cruise as we had some very noisy neighbors with smaller children that did a lot of crying and stomping around late at night. Other than that this was a very positive experience and we would recommend to everyone. *except Cagney's: Food wasn't great and the service was painfully slow Read Less

I'm 65 years old and have never been to Europe. What better way to see it than on a cruise? This cruise is all about the ports, there is only one sea day and most of the port days are long. This was my first cruise on a mega ship, but it didn't really feel much different than the smaller ships. There are lines for some things, but never long. Embarkation went quickly and smoothly. We did have Latitudes priority boarding, which helped. This cruise is either round trip from Barcelona, or from Rome. Probably 20% of the passengers embark in Rome, so they're not all embarking at the same time in Barcelona. We had the specialty dining package as a free perk. Our first specialty restaurant was Tepannyaki, the Japanese restaurant where the food preparation is a show. Six seats are around the cook top, and it's very entertaining. If you can't decide what entrée to get, just pick one. The cook makes extra, and will share. Second was the Cirque Dreams dinner show. This show was the highlight of the cruise, and worth the extra price. The entrée at dinner was a steak in peppercorn sauce. My wife didn't like the sauce, I thought it was great. The steak was very tender. The third was Cagney's steakhouse. Very elegant, great food and service. The specialty of the house for dessert was the raspberry crème brulet. You won't be disappointed. As good as the specialty restaurants were, I wouldn't go to them without the dining package, especially as a free perk. The bill at Cagney's, dinner alone without drinks, was $190, but covered by the dining package. The main dining rooms are very good, and if you don't do any of the specialty dining, you'll still have a great time. Breakfast was served at O'Sheehan's, Taste, and the buffet. O'Sheehan's was good, the selection was more limited, Taste is one of the main dining rooms, and the best place for breakfast if you're not pressed for time. Don't miss the pound cake French toast. The buffet was quite good, good variety and quality. We did the buffet breakfast only when we had an early shore excursion, not because there was anything wrong with it, but because we could be served at other places. Orange juice at the buffet is out of a machine, if you want fresh squeezed, you pay for it, but can get it free at Taste. The two main dining rooms are Taste and Manhattan Room. I think they're the same menu, but Manhattan Room is a nicer room, and has live music, sometimes a show. the food was great. Always great service. I already mentioned the Cirque Dreams show, it's mostly covered by the dining package, and is a do not miss. We missed Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. Burn the Floor was very entertaining. The casino was good to me. Blackjack can be had for $10 minimum with poor rules, but can be had with good rules for $15. Craps is $10 minimum, 3-4-5x odds. Roulette is $2 chips, I don't recall the minimum bet. Let it Ride, Three Card Poker, and Ultimate Texas Hold 'em are offered with $5 minimums. Judging by the pay tables on the video poker, the slots are probably pretty tight. This is the fourth Norwegian cruise I've been on, and service has always been consistently good. When in port, be sure to have some Euros with you, even if you're paying with credit cards. Restrooms charge half to one Euro, and they don't accept American dollars. If you buy something in a restaurant, bar, or other business with a restroom, you can use their restroom for free. Barcelona-We spent four nights after the cruise, beautiful city. The two main attractions are La Sagrada Familia and the Picasso Museum. For either of them, buy tickets ahead of time, they are timed, and they will be less crowded in the morning. A good and inexpensive meal can be had at the tapas bars that are all over, about 15-20 euros for a couple. Naples-We took an excursion to Amalfi Coast and Pompeii, not an NCL excursion. Amalfi Coast was stunningly beautiful. I've been fascinated by Pompeii since learning about it in fourth grade, so this excursion was quite memorable. Rome-Don't let the long time in port fool you. If you have an excursion, it will probably leave an hour after arriving in port. Then it's an hour and a half into Rome, maybe more depending on traffic, an hour and a half back, and you have to be back on board half an hour before sailing. That takes four and a half hours out of the day. We did the Rome on Your Own shore excursion. When we got our shore excursion tickets, there was a note saying to not book anything in Rome for before 11:00 am. A little late for that warning. We had tickets to the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel. Made it there just in time. This cruise gets to Rome on Wednesday, which is the day the Pope gives a public address. This may be the reason Rome was so crowded, maybe it's always like that, just be prepared for crowds. The Vatican Museum was amazing, and Sistine Chapel was jaw dropping. After that, we had lunch, went to the Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps (right next to each other) and then it was time to return. Florence-If you didn't read what I wrote about Rome, go back and read the first part of it. The same applies to Florence. We took the Hop on-Hop Off bus tour in Florence. A bus takes you into Florence, then you catch the HO-HO bus. We had tickets for the Uffizi Gallery, and arrived half an hour after the assigned time (again, don't book anything before 11:00 am!) but they let us in without any trouble. Florence was the center of the Renaissance, and I'm sure the Uffizi is the largest and best collection of Renaissance art in the world. Well worth seeing. Again, we had lunch, saw the Duomo, then back to the ship without ever stepping on the HO-HO bus that we'd paid for. But it did get us into Florence, so it was worth it. My wife and I both agreed that Florence was the best part of the cruise. Cannes-Nice city, very upscale, many stores I can't afford to shop in, it's like Beverly Hills was moved to the beach. There is a tour called the Little Bus that loads near the dock, as I recall it was 12 Euros each. It took us up to a beautiful cathedral, which had great views of the city. Cannes is a beautiful city, but other than the cathedral, there wasn't much that caught my attention. Palma-By the time you get to Palma, you're probably still worn out from the Italian stops, but the ship doesn't dock until 1:00 pm, so you can sleep in. We took a hop on-hop off bus that took us up to a castle. Like Cannes, it's a beautiful city, but other than the castle, and maybe the cathedral which we didn't have time to go to, not much there. To sum it up, this cruise is all about the ports, and it is tiring. Well worth it, fun, interesting, beautiful, but tiring. It was worth it, I'm not complaining, just know what you're getting. Been on dozens of cruises on NCL, Royal Caribbean, Princess, Crystal, Regent, Celebrity, And Windstar but this was our first Viking. We had heard about river cruises with them but recently learned of their entry into the ocean voyage market and heard great things. Ours was a Mediterranean trip from Barcelona to Venice - many ports we had previously visited but there were several new options if we were willing to travel a bit which we were. I’ll cover excursions later, but first the Viking Jupiter. This ship is brand new this year. It is beautiful. And they’ve worked out the kinks described in prior reviews. First, the crew is fabulous. Extremely hard working, pleasant and professional. They strike the right balance, not too aloof and not too obsequious. Friendly and attentive but mostly invisible until you need them. The Norwegian style is casual and luxurious with a living room environment rather than grandeur. We loved the cozy nooks with many gaming tables, puzzles, libraries, theme areas around opera, symphony, science ( we went to all 3 shows in the 3-d planetarium and a lecture by the resident astronomer astrophysicist). The cruise director is also a professional opera singer and WOW! There is no casino, included excursions at every port, included good wine and beer at lunch and dinner, no children programs, in fact no children, no formal nights. This isn’t for everyone. But it suited my husband and me. We are in our 50s and were definitely of the younger cruisers. The name that tune games that were hosted by the super talented 4 singers/dancers were tons of fun although a bit before our time(50s and 60s music). Buffet was top notch. tea time was not to be missed with live music in the beautiful winter garden next to the pool area every day at 4. The dining room is more intimate than the usual giant rooms on other lines. The 2 specialty restaurants are included. We liked the Italian but weren’t huge fans of French night at the Chefs Table. We aren’t big on fixed menus. We like to choose. The dining room we found to always have plenty of excellent options. Our favorite shore excursions were to Cassis France, Split Croatia, and Lucca Italy. Read Less

We just came off the Sky Princess Inaugural Cruise from Athens to Barcelona (October 20th to the 27th). We then spent two days in Barcelona. This was our second Princess cruise, the first being the Crown Princess in 2007. We have also done 3 Carnival (with the children) an RCL to Alaska and Celebrity Reflection about four years ago. Princess is our favorite cruise line. We have already booked a transatlantic on the Crown Princess in two years. The Sky Princess is immense, everything seems to be “super-sized” inside it. There are so many bars and places to eat you cannot try them all. What stuck us the most was how friendly and happy the staff was. The Ship decorations are wonderful, but not over the top glitzy. We had a cabin on the Sun deck. It is the standard Princess Balcony. Serviceable, not a huge amount of space, but how much time do you actually spend in the cabin anyway. Our Cabin Steward, Franco, was good. He always had a smile and a hello for us, even if he was the way down the hallway. If we asked for something (like a couple of extra towels), it was taken care of immediately and we did not have to ask again. Even though our Cabin was on the same deck as the Retreat Pool, we never had a chance to check it out, other than walking through it. Not enough Sea Days, I guess. We had anytime dining and the most we had to wait was about 5 minutes on maybe two nights. Overall the food was good and better. There were some outstanding things, some average, but generally good. The Beef Wellington was terrific. A few of the main courses for a couple of nights were a bit over cooked and dry on occasion. It is hard to cook for 4,000 people. We ate at the Crown Grill one night and it was fantastic! Our server, Ygenvey, was tremendous, he really made the experience wonderful. The dishes were excellent. We really enjoyed the dinner. The World Fresh Market Place (Buffet) was your typical Buffet. Some of the stuff was good, some not. A large selection, but not everything changed every day, so there were a large number of repeats. I thought the scrambled eggs they had for Breakfast were terrible. They were mealy and tasteless; however the made-to-order Omelets were good. Lunch for us was a combination of the Buffet or the Salty Dog Grill and the Slice Pizzeria. Both were acceptable. One day we ate lunch at Alfredo’s Pizzeria on Deck 7. The service there was a bit slow, but the pizza and the Calzone made up for it. The International Café was always busy and had some terrific little bites and desserts. My Wife had a Coffee Package and was there at least twice a day! Our favorite place, however, was Take 5, the Jazz Club on Deck 6. The music was nice, but the real draw were the three bartenders, Emil, Raisa and Wynn. We went there every night after Dinner and if we went to the Show. They became like old friends. We had a wonderful time sitting at the bar talking, drinking and listening to the music (although the musicians talked a little too much). The Princess Shops were a little disappointing, I thought, compared to what I remember from past cruises. The Sky Princess is a Medallion Cruise. The Medallions worked well. As you approach your cabin door, it recognizes you and unlocks the door. Otherwise it works like the old cards. You give it to the server, and they scan it when you order a drink or purchase something. We did not try ordering drinks with it at our seat, as everyone was so anxious to get your drink order. Manny, on the pool deck was terrific. He remembered our names, knew what we wanted to drink right away and was so friendly and attentive. It was nice when we were at Take 5, we never had to show the Medallion. The ship reads it and the staff can see you are there and make the necessary purchases for you. They have also integrated the on-board pictures to the Medallion and have done away with the printed proofs. Now you go to a terminal scan your Medallion and it pulls up all the pictures they have taken of you. Of course, it does not always read the Medallion when the pictures are taken, so a staff member must show you all the “unaffiliated” pictures to tie them into your Medallion. Not a real issue. A couple of nits to pick, one more annoying than the other. The more annoying one first. It is hard to find the rest room in certain locations. There is of course a sign on the wall, but no door is indicated. Just a plan paneled door. You must know to open that one to find a little alcove with the men’s and women’s rooms inside. It could have more clear signage. The other one is that the ship was so new it did not have everything loaded. I forgot my cuff links for the formal night. In the past, I rented them. This time they had not loaded the formal wear items for rent yet. The second formal night, we say they had everything for rent, but by then I had solved the problem by buying some cuff links in Corfu made of olive wood. The absolute best element, however, is when the ship is leaving port and blows the ships horn, it is then followed by the horn playing a riff from the Love Boat Theme. Terrific Idea! Each time it sounded there were cheers and applause on the deck. To sum up, it was a terrific amazing week and the ship is the main reason why. Read Less

I chose this cruise because I wanted to have a Barcelona land and a Mediterranean cruise vacation. We arrived in Barcelona four days prior to cruise which began Sunday, October 20, 2019. We also stayed on in Barcelona an additional two days after the cruise to do more sightseeing. Barcelona has wonderful sights to fill several days of sightseeing. Prior to the cruise we took a Viator guided small group tour to Montserrat Monastery with hike and cable car and saw the boys choir (mini-van central pickup location), a Headout (Amigo Tour) guided tour of Sagrada Familia (meeting point a little hard to find across from Sagrada Familia), a full day Viator tour by minivan (inoutbarcelonatour) with guide Arnau to Girona and the Dali Museum. We loved all these tours. Every guide was very knowledgeable about the places we were at. We learned so much about Gaudi at the Sagrada Familia Tour and all about Dali driving to Girona and Figures, Dali Museum. Arnau pointed out very interesting details at the Dali Museum. I was surprised how much my husband even liked this art museum. One thing I learned on this vacation is tour guides are a must to appreciate fully what you are viewing. As long as you are all the way there pay the extra money!! We did do Gaudi's Park Guell, LaPedrera and Casa Batllo after the cruise. All are a must see! Our cruise was truly enjoyable. This was my third Norwegian cruise and Epic is twice the size of the smaller 2,500 passenger ships I was on previously, most recently February 2019 on the Norwegian Sky to Cuba (before they stopped cruising there). The main difference I noticed is the larger Epic ship has far better and more entertainment options in the evening-Cirque (Soleil) Dreams, Priscilla Queen of the Desert Musical, Comedy and Magic, Stand up Comedy, Motown Group, Epic Beatles (great Beatles cover band) with Beatles costumes, Burn the Floor (fabulous dance) and more that I did not have time to see--Bruno Mars cover, etc. When you are getting up at 6:30 a.m. to get breakfast before meeting your 8:00 a.m. excursions you don't necessarily want to stay up to midnight every night to catch every show available. However on the night prior to a sea day and a late arrival to Palma de Mallorca we certainly did!! Some shows accept reservations so I recommend making them. The shows that did not take them you had no problem just walking in. One night we did 3 shows walking in. I never ate at the specialty restaurants. The food was great at the complimentary ones with the exception of the biscuits and gravy my husband ordered one day for breakfast in Taste. It was three link pork sausages sitting on a biscuit with a few tablespoons of gravy. Otherwise everything was top service and fantastic food. Better service than most restaurants I have been in. My main complaint of this cruise is most restaurants are located on floor six by the casino where you can smoke. I did not appreciate walking through the casino and smoke to reach the restaurants! My excursions I did were (NAPLES) Viator full day Sorrento, Amalfi Coast and Pompeii (small bus of maybe 20 people, easy pick up at port) guide gave us lots of info on bus ride and throughout Great tour. Not as much time to shop in Sorrento as I would have liked but no fault of tour, we had a lot ground to cover. (ROME) Best of Rome and Vatican (www.ItalyTours.EU) Eight person minivan with six of us and the guide/driver. This was the best bargain of the trip, two guides included, one for Rome driving and one for Vatican Museum. Something similar by NCL was 3 times the money. Met at port with a sign with our last names. Travel on the narrow streets of Rome in a minivan is the way to go. We were able to park right across the street from Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps and given some time there on our own. Believe me, if you were in a bus you would be walking a long distance to see the sights because a bus would not get anywhere near them. Going in the Colosseum was optional on this tour and of the 6 in van just my husband and I were doing it. Our guide walked right up to the ticket taker and got us in (I pre-bought pick up at window tickets, shortest line there is). The Vatican Museum as mentioned was a different guide- again no line time, followed the guide in, learned a tremendous amount from her. My favorite tour of this vacation. The remaining port tours I booked through NCL. They included (FLORENCE) NCL Pisa and Florence on Your Own (great guide to cities only but very long walk from bus parking lot in both Pisa and Florence the one day in 2 weeks it rained), CANNES (first off ship with tenders because NCL excursion!) Eze and Monaco. Eze was absolutely gorgeous medieval city. Monaco-- loved seeing beautiful Church Grace Kelly was married and buried in, changing of guard at castle. (PALMA de MALLORCA) NCL Palma in Depth (large bus) some walk to get from bus parking again. Great guide, but not as much to see as at other ports other than inside and out of Cathedral and town. Overall I loved this cruise. Disembarkation was a breeze, 5 minutes each port at most. Play shuffleboard-- it was fun and nobody was there. I will also post a picture on my cabin because it is an enclosed cabin and I was really curious what it would look like so I am guessing others would too. My only complaint is with telephone booking of Epic cruise. I declined travel insurance and after I paid in full saw they had it on invoice. My own fault for not noticing. Three months prior to cruise I called and told them of error. They said they see I initially declined insurance but I had other calls (questions about excursions) and had no proof I did not add insurance later so NCL refused to take the $198 travel insurance total ($99 a person off) in July 2019 for a October 20th cruise. Considering I brought 4 family members, (3 cabins booked) to join my husband and me on a February 2019 NCL Norwegian Sky cruise I was quite insulted. Read Less

We sailed NCL once before and loved the itinerary. We like the itinerary scheduled for this cruise but found it disappointing on several stops. 1st, the stop to Kotor was canceled but the excuse given was that the departure from Venice was delayed 2hrs. I take issue with the cancelation since we made a two hour stop at a port just beyond Kotor and arrived there about 6 hours before we were expected to arrive in Kotor. Clearly, NCL avoided the port fees in Kotor but made no effort to mitigate the loss to the passengers. 2nd, the stop in Santorini was a bust. We arrived along with 5 other cruise ships and it took hours to get to the cable car. We and several dozen other passengers punted and went back to the ship to the bar. 3rd, the stops in Corfu and Mikonos barely gave you enough time to grab a meal and head back to the ship. We knew this before hand and chose not to take an excursion because of the rush. The Norwegian Star was clean and well maintained. We loved our room, the service, and the amenities. The food was good, best in the upcharge restaurants but neither warrant further mention. We were very pleased with the cruise director and his staff but.....there was really very little to do on board. We would cruise again with NCL but only if the itinerary were very special. Read Less

Where to begin, I really looked forward to this cruise as it was my first and my honeymoon with my beautiful wife. Being a novice I booked far in advance, as it turned costing me more for an interior state room than for a mini suite. As I foolishly thought, no worries I'm sure we can just talk to guest services and they could rectify the situation with an upgrade or maybe just a complimentary bottle of wine. Well I thought wrong, they wouldn't do anything. This being mostly my own fault I didn't give it to much thought. It's when I realized that the Maine dining room served the same tired menu every day and the buffet was an utter disappointment serving what amounted to day old ledt overs that I started to get a bit annoyed. So I decided to try a restraint aboard called food republic and for a mere $ 140.00 USD you too can partake in overpriced take out. So, the food situation being awful, I decided to partake in a show not realizing all shows are booked in advance in what I can only describe as a tiny venue with no hope of fitting even 5 percent of the passengers at any time. I did manage to attend the very last show on the ship a choir of men, which was excellent, just wish I could have seen more for the money I paid. So the entertainment was great, if you could get in to see it. Alright the food is bad and there is no hope of getting into a show so I decided to try the rope course and maybe get iij n some mini golf. I got on the line for the rope course and was waiting to walk up the stairs to start and stood to listen a crew member belittling a terrified woman who didn't even have the decency to get off his lazy butt and go attend to her. So I went up and gently coached her through. The woman only needed a little reassurance and she did great, no thanks to the crew. His rudeness and unwillingness to merely do his job was not an anomaly. Most crew moved through the ship as if every guest was a distraction from their respective responsibilities. But the cream of the crop was definitely the st george ferry crew. My wife had to talk me down from pummeling the rudest most inept crew I have ever had the misfortune to encounter. They were late arrive, late to leave, unbelievable rude. They were honestly yelling at the elderly leaving woman and children waiting on black top in direct sun light for hours than giving people an attitude, I couldn't believe it. At that point any way of NCL redeeming themselves was gone. I spent thousands of dollars to ensure my honeymoon would be something I could look back on with joy and reverence. Instead NCL overcharge me for bad food, RUDE staff, and little to no entertainment. Now that is what I get to remember forever. Read Less

It was our 12th cruise and the 6th with MSC. We arrived to Genova by train and walked to the cruise terminal (around 10 minutes walk). 15 minutes later, we were in our Cabin. Even though the ship was full and most of the passengers embarked in Genova, later afternoon the terminal was almost empty - so everything was smooth and fast. Our cabin was clean and nice, well maintained and cleaned 2 times daily. MSC gets a huge amount of complaints by American and Canadian cruisers. The facts (in my personal perspective) : Food can be more than hamburgers, fries and other fried things. If you cannot recognize anything else as food, stay with carnival cruises. If you interested of the European and Italian cuisine, you will love MSC's kitchen. Onboard expenses : The best option is to book and pay everything in advance on the MSC's website. The best example is the photography. If you buy photos onboard ,the small photo is $20, the large photo is $30 each. If you prepay online, you pay $177 for 100 photos - so it's $1.77 for both sizes. All other expenses, like gratuity, SPA and beauty, excursions - all of them 20-30% cheaper in advance. Our itinerary was changed once. There was a storm in Ibiza, so the ship skipped this port, we were at sea on that day and docked at Palermo, Sicily next day. About other cruisers on board... When Moses wrote about the Tower of Babel, I think he was thinking of the future cruises onboard with MSC. Hundreds of nations speaks hundred different languages. Sooo many Italian cruisers onboard. You should love their vibrant attitude or you will suffer every day on the cruise sip. Read Less

Our class chose this destination on a majority vote for our 45th college reunion. We wanted a cruise that would take us to the East Coast and Canada for the Fall Foliage. Our travel agent suggested a Princess cruise based on previous clients' recommendations. The embarkation was smooth and all the staff were very helpful and showed us the way to our stateroom and the dining room for lunch. Our stateroom was in a quiet location, clean, had a balcony, and the space was just right for my husband and me. The bed was very comfortable and the comforter was light and warm. The Medallion made it so easy to get in and out of our room, go through lines when exiting or returning to the ship. It also made it easy to shop, pay for drinks or other items on the ship; we did not need to bring our wallets and money on board. The food, entertainment, service and staff on the Regal Princess were all first rate!! I will return to this ship for another cruise with family and friends! Read Less

What most determined our choosing this particular cruise was The Itinerary and most of all it was out of NYC which is driving distance away. We have traveled Princess before. This is a newer ship in good shape. The cleanliness of the Ship was great. Our cabin was quiet and extreemly clean. The quality of food was not as good as it was two years ago when we traveled on the same ship. Things that determined the Average Rating are as follows: 1. Cruise Line has cut back on the quality and quantity of food. An extremely small portion of lobster. Dinner featuring fried chicken had two very small pieces of dark meat. 2. Medallion does not always work - A passenger card is much better. After taking twenty-five cruises the card is a better way of cruising. Medallion tracks you everywhere - Big Brother. 3. The final bill had charges we did not make. Wasted 1/2 hour on disembarkation day getting it corrected. This has NEVER happened before on any of twenty-five cruises we have sailed on. Read Less
