The food and staff where fantastic.
We were very disappointed that we didn't get to do the entire cruise. The reason that was relayed to the passengers was the water levels where to high to go through the lock system. On Day 3 we made it about half way up the Douro river and it stopped.
We were of the understanding when we went to an information session prior to booking the cruise that ...
I was sick most of the time and had little to no access to meds. I came home with Covid. Testing and meds were not available on ship. The ship was nice, clean and rooms well appointed, if not very small. The weather was cold, so the balcony wasn't really used. The food was good and the cruise director was excellent.
The staff was very friendly (except for front desk), remembered names and ...
This was our first River cruise, While it was fun it was very different from an Ocean cruise. There is a lot of busing everywhere you go,The water was too high to do most of the cruise. You sit at a dock in what is a very expensive floating hotel. I go on a cruise to cruise so this really is not for me. In the summer I guess the water is too low. The food was very good and crew was exceptional. ...
My husband and I (retired, 65 and 70) have been indulging in high end travel since we became empty nesters, but our last cruise was in 1997 with kids. We’ve been receiving catalogs from Viking for years and this year the lure of unpacking only once was strong and Europe at Christmas was enticing.
On the positive side -
We booked our own travel and made our way to the Magni without any ...
This was our 8th river cruise however the only three were in France on Uniworld and because the other cruises involved small ships there isn’t a good comparison (the Viking Vietnam was outstanding).
We chose this because we had never been in Bulgaria or Romania and like wine! Except for Hungary our earlier experiences were in Yugoslavia in the 70’s so nice to see what had changed.
Other ...

This was our first River cruise. Celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary. My husband had read so much about Viking so we booked departing Amsterdam Nov. 12, 2023 for the 8 day cruise to Basel. The crew was exceptional, cabin was nice. The food was ok, cold most of the time. In the brochure it states no waiting in lines and that what we did most of the time. We thought that once we got to a ...
We had traveled with Viking previously and were impressed by the all inclusiveness and the on board hospitality. This, being the ships last cruise of the year, seemed to have run on a budget. We bought the Silver Spirits beverage package which boasts premium alcohols, but almost everything I asked for was out from the very beginning of the cruise, and not replenished during. There was plenty of ...
Partially due to inclined weather conditions, the cruising part of this trip has been dramatically reduced. Majority of the excursions fall under the side of 'a bit boring' category. Fortunately, we booked the pre-cruise excursion that highlighted the whole experience, otherwise, the river cruise part alone would not earn my praise at all.
While the executive chef made the daily dinner ...
We have been ocean cruising for many years and have gone to many parts of the world with our children. Now that they are adults, we decided to make our own adventures. This was my husband’s and my first River Cruise and it was a disappointment. It is a more expensive cruise than our past Ocean cruises but I was excited enough about this that I was already planning more in the future. First ...
Wanting to avoid the health issues of some of the larger cruises, I chose this cruise because it was advertised as a small ship with not too many passengers. My travelling partner and I were told by our agent that there would be about 80 passengers. There were 180 passengers aboard ship. The staff was magnificent, always smiling, always wanting to go the extra mile except when it came to illness. ...
