Danube Waltz - the cities we were going to with the rich history in each was the leading factor. Seeing the comfort of being on the ship and cruising down the river was total enticing. Unfortunately, we arrived when the river was historically low and did not get to spend the afternoon in Budapest. We got a panoramic bus ride then bused all the way to Vienna by passing Bratislava. We were bused ...
We chose this cruise as friends wanted to visit Prague, Vienna and Budapest, as well as the Wachau Valley in Austria, and we had lived in the area, so felt comfortable traveling with them. The service onboard was superb, from the trip manager to the individuals waiting on us. Everything was organized, with multiple options daily for each type of group, be they active or unable to do physical ...
As with most people, we wanted to visit Normandy. Viking delivered on that. As far as comparing it to an ocean cruise there is no way. They are two different things completely. The crew was great. The ship was clean, and the rooms were quite large enough.
I was surprised at the casualness of the whole trip. Embarkation-Just walked in sort of like a hotel. And you just walked on and off ...
We really enjoyed our time on the Viking Kadlin and the itinerary to Normany. Visiting Normandy was truly a humbling experience. Meeting fellow passengers was delightful and the guided tours were superb. Our only disappointment was the quality of the food at dinner. Maybe because it was the last cruise of the season on the Kadlin but it seemed like we were served a lot of leftovers and not ...
I completed this cruise a week or so ago. The cruise itself in very nice and relaxing. The stops along the river are interesting but this is so very different from one of the European sailings. You really can't explore on your own. You are assigned group color and a guide for Vietnam and a different one for Cambodia. Our guide in Vietnam, Sonny, was not good. It was almost impossible to ...
It was on our bucket list and appealed to us on so many levels :-Historic(and different periods of history):- we learned on boat and then saw sites related to Joan of Arc, learned about the French Revolution and then of course, Dday visiting the beaches of Normandy
Art & Cultural- saw the Tapestry of Bayeux(which is unbelieveable in it's detail and story-telling); sampled many many local ...
We have sailed on both Viking River and Viking Ocean ships, which we have enjoyed a great deal. When we saw the itinerary for this trip we decided to go. We are very glad that we did, because we had the most wonderful time. The ports of call were all amazing. We saw and learned a great deal at each stop. All the tour guides were excellent and we especially found the tour guide for the ...
WE chose this cruise over Viking because of the great deal. Our fare included the Premium Liquor package, r/t airfare for $295, an upgraded room, and one extra excursion. Viking's fare was almost $2000 more for all of that. (Note: Viking's trip includes 10 days vs. our 7 and also 3 days in Lisbon, which we did on our own for probably less.)
Not having sailed with Emerald before we kept our ...
Interested in going to Vietnam and Cambodia to experience the culture, history, people and the food.
While I knew it would be hot, I was not prepared for the humidity. The humidity permeated everything, even the air conditioned rooms.
We chose Viking because we have cruised with them 6 previous times
This was a combination land and river cruise. All of the hotels were Outstanding! The ...
We loved this cruise and it’s excursions but the pace was so grueling. If we’ve never been to an area we want to do the excursions but it was exhausting. It would be nice to have a couple of days built in where we don’t feel like we have to go go go. Just cruise and relax. With that in mind you’d need to add something to do that makes staying on board worth while.
The food was excellent, Our ...
