We choose Uniworld based on their reputation as a 5 or 6 star line. of the 13 day cruise from Lisbon to Madrid, we were on the ship 8 nights and the other nights in very nice hotels.
The overall experience was good, worst part of the cruise was on the ship.
They were VERY understaffed and they kept saying the air conditioning was being fixed, however it NEVR worked the entire time!! ...
Extensive Review of Uniworld cruise…
Very Disappointing!!! We expected a 10 but experienced a five. September 2016 Douro River Cruise
Beware…this is not a Uniworld product. The ship and crew are leased from Douro Azul River Cruise Lines, according to the ship hotel manager who was one of only two Uniworld employees on board. Both of the Uniworld managers had only been on the ship since the ...
We had taken a wonderful Volga river cruise three years ago. So we were excited to take another river cruise. We chose Budapest to Amsterdam. It did not begin to compare to our first cruise. Staff and food was awesome. Tours were repetitive. We saw the same things at each stop. The Mozart and Strauss concert was terrific but the hall where it was held did not seem worthy of the entertainment. ...
We had not traveled with the Australian Company APT. Thought we would give it a try. Uniworld and Avalon are much better in my view. The distances, by bus, on some tours were a real let down. The enthusiasm of wait staff went from very helpful to " don't want to be here". At times conflicting information was provided by the boats crew. One morning the gangplank was moved a 5am. The noise of the ...
This cruise went from Nuremburg through Austria to Budapest in Hungary. The ship itself was clean and well appointed as was our room with a balcony. The crew was helpful and very nice. Food was good. The lounge was nice but could probably have used at least one more waiter.
For three days our boat was off schedule so that it could go into dry dock for repair. We were completely off the ...
Booked this cruise because the promotion advertising looked like it was what we wanted and the sailing date suited. Reserved a two room veranda suite on deck 3, these cabins are directly under the walking/ running track on the top deck which results in overhead noise even though it is supposed to be a walking track that is restricted 8pm to 8am. The other disappointment was that the large window ...
We choose this cruise to celebrate my wife's birthday.
The ship had over 90% American passengers on board : they were overwhelming and with only 6 Brits, 2 Aussies and 4 Canadians we were very much in a minority. Everything seemed to be tailored for the Americans, including "hard selling" and expensive optional tours.
Another disappointment was how much cruising was done during the night. ...
Embarkation in Portland, Maine went smoothly but upon entering the ship and cabin we were very disappointed. Upon the suggestion of another couple with us, we were led to believe that small ship cruising would have "highly personalized service" and an "accommodating crew will anticipate your every need and provide you with an unequal level of attention". The cruise up the Maine coast was geared ...
We took the Torgil for a cruise on the Douro. I commend the staff who executed the Viking program with professionalism and efficiency. I also will say that the cabin was quite nice although I would have liked the bird poop and other dirt to have been washed off the veranda.
Beyond that I have little positive to say. The scenery was redundant. And the excursions required lengthy bus trips. ...
We chose this as we had done the Mosel on a previous cruise (with another company) and wanted to include this on a variant itinerary, this tima ccompanied by friends.
Our worst River cruise to date - with Emerald Waterways!!!
(This was our 8th river cruise - so we know standards can be great)
NEGATIVES:
Bad cabin layout and lack of facilities (top deck level – in a so-called Grand ...
