1&1/2 days is all we cruised and then we hit something and broke all the propellers and who knows what happened to the engine! We ended with a bus tour to all our sites. So we lost 1/2 day of sight seeing in transit and all of our lovely cruise. Our bus tour was long and boring.the last 2 nights we were put up in 4 different hotels in Avignon. We were divided up, some locations were 20 minutes ...

My wife and I traveled with 16 friends on the Hermod. Our experience was a tale of two trips. During the time we were cruising and on the ship, our experience met expectations: a handsome ship, comfortable cabins, a choice of wonderful dishes, pleasant service and a helpful staff. But as described below, the trip turned into a mediocre experience at best. Therefore, I must give the cruise a ...

Lower Mississippi River on the Queen of the Mississippi

My wife and I took the 7 night ACL Queen of the Mississippi cruise from Memphis to New Orleans departing on May 23 of 2015. Not only was this the most expensive vacation the two of us have taken in our 33 years together, it was also the most disappointing. I suppose we should have done more research before we booked on this boat but all of their literature led us to believe it would be a good ...

It really wasn't Paris.

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on Viking Rinda

Both my friend and I are seasoned international travelers for both business and pleasure. We have taken many cruises from ports like Tahiti and the Galapagos. We were both very displeased with our experience on the Rinda. The cruise was advertised as a Paris cruise and all the literature we received touted it as a Paris cruise. It was not! The boat docked an hour's bus ride away from ...

Not Being Moored at the Eiffel Tower in Paris

No advance notice, thought Viking knew of this, moored 52 km's upriver instead of in Paris, bused not boated, no refund except voucher for another cruise within 12 months, food from central store/very average as was the wine. DO NOT RECOMMEND! Lost the promised and paid for 3 nights moored at Paris, reduced to a bus tour of one hour in and back, no evenings. ...

Lovely looking boat but that was all. Boarded with another 150 on tour - all from overseas - All English speaking - most if not all very disappointed. Meals were often served cold and tasteless. Took sometimes 1 hour before meal was served and sometimes the delay was because orders had got misplaced - chaos happening in kitchen. Often items very not available or substituted without ...

We booked our family river cruise through Viking and it started to unravel from day one. The cruise was due to depart from Chalon-sur-Saone, I suspected something was wrong when the taxi driver and hotel receptionist (all locals) said Viking have trouble starting from this port at this time of the year as the river is high and they expected we would be bussed to Lyon (where I had paid the day ...

Two weeks ago as we drove to the airport, we received an email from Viking Cruise Lines that because of rising water levels in Southern France, our ship would not be waiting for us at our departure point in Avingnon. Instead we would be staying at a Novotel. There was no estimate as to how long we would be quartered there. While the hotel room itself was sufficient the food was below Viking's ...

My wife and I highly recommend this cruise. We enjoyed the many tours (and the organization of groups according to their fitness level) and the valuable information provided by the tour guides. We had plenty of time to wander about by ourselves and at all times buses were on time to take us back to the boat. We also can't say enough about the humorous tour director (Valentine), courteous staff ...

The No Cruise River Cruise

The ship was excellent. The staff were excellent. The food was excellent. HOWEVER there was no cruise. We arrived at Basel airport and were taken on a coach to a muddy field where the ship was moored, not Basel. Due to flooding on the Rhine all locks were closed and we spent three days moored at the first lock, with no expectation of moving on. We were moored on the Alsace canal. On the ...
