Service on Magni was very good. Had to switch ships halfway due to water levvels. Staff not nearly as attentive or nice. Third day they were still asking us what our cabin number was when we ordered a drink. On Magni, they knew day one.
Food was ok, not a big selection.Got very tired of busing everywhere, especially last day. Spent 8 hours on a bus. I paid for a river cruise! Saw some ...
Wanted to visit Budapest and Vienna on a land tour so with the extra ports, seemed to make sense (we are not interested in organized bus tours, but having the same room every night is appealing). While the tours and tour guides were good, the onboard experience was lacking.
We are frequent travellers (every two to three months since retiring six years ago) and experienced cruisers ...
My husband and I just returned from a 7 night cruise on the Artistry II. We chose Avalon Waterways because of a friend's recommendation and because the itinerary fit our schedule. The ship was okay, but nothing special. We were in the Royal Suite (one of two on the ship) but in all honesty, it wasn't really worth the extra expense. The room was larger than most, but other than that we didn't ...
We really thought the Viking longship was built just right with its very convenient and pleasant public areas and restaurants. The service was excellent. The staterooms were kept extremely clean and our AA Suite with its separate living room was worth the substantial extra charge.
The Danube itinerary, which we had done on Viking a few years ago, is excellent. However, while docked you are ...
5 STAR ASPIRATIONS - 3 STAR DELIVERY!!
As a preamble I should say we are comparing the Scenic offer with Seabourn which is a true 5 Star product. This was our first river cruise and I appreciate that many of the downsides identified are typical of the river cruise experience and not unique to Scenic.
First the good points
1 The staff were excellent and tried very hard. However due to the ...
Dear Paul F,
Thank you for your review and we are pleased to hear you found your suite fabulous and the boat clean and tidy at all times. It's also great to read you found our excursions...
This was our third trip with Viking and the second River cruise. Unfortunately this experience did not meet our expectations based on previous cruises.
First the Good:
The waitstaff in the Dining room was excellent. By the end of the cruise they knew who we were, more or less what we wanted and were overall attentive. One evening I lost an earring and just assumed that it was gone. When we ...
We had never cruised the Great Lakes and the Pearl Mist seemed like an attractive little ship which carried only about 190 passengers. The 11 day itinerary, from Toronto to Chicago had some interesting stops, both in Canada and the U. S. The highlight of the trip was Mackinac Island and the Grand Hotel. Other stops included a visit to Niagara Falls and a number of small cities and towns which ...
We just returned from Waterways of the Tzars with Viking and although the trip was enjoyable there were several problems with the cruise. The boats in Russia are not nearly as nice as the Longships Vikings uses in Europe. They need to be updated and reconfigured. The public spaces are tiny and bar area are so small that they cant hold everyone during lectures and briefings. The outside common area ...
We just finished a Rhine River Cruise on Uniworld. We were expecting a beautiful upscale river cruise but unfortunately and contrary to most of the reviews we read that is not what we experienced. The Antoinette has a worn French decor which is overstated and unattractive. The whole ship is in need of a redo. The cabin we selected was the highest class category other than the suites. It was ...
We had travelled with Avalon previously in 2015 and spent a lot of time convincing my sister and her husband to join us for the Budapest to Amsterdam cruise. This was to be the trip of a lifetime for my sister. As you read on you will feel our disappointment with the trip but please read to the end of my comments.
On arrival in Budapest we met people who had travelled up from Amsterdam and ...
