Wonderful, helpful crew, amazing sights and 'ate our way across Europe"!
All of the tour guides were fantastic an so knowledgeable.
In Passau we had a wonderful walking tour of the city. Our fantastic chef demonstrated Apple Strudel making, which was quite tasty!
In Linz we a had a bit of snow at the beginning of our morning walking tour, but the Viking provided big umbrellas kept us ...
We did not want an ocean cruise, so for our retirement/anniversary gift to ourselves, we chose a river cruise.
Due to flight cancellations and delays, we missed the first 2 nights in Paris hotel and were the last couple to arrive.
If I have one criticism, it would be the lack of help from Viking in obtaining alternative flights for our situation, they want you to pay more for flight help, ...
We chose this cruise because it starts in Porto, which we wanted to visit, and travels up the Douro River, which looked beautiful. The embarkation is on the Porto side of the river, which makes for more convenient access than for the cruises other than Emerald or Scenic that leave from Vila Nova de Gaia. A word of warning for those with limited mobility, though: the ramp down to the ship is steep. ...
What a fantastic itinerary on the Rhine River and I just loved this ship! She is small and compact but brings the destination on board with local meals and local wines. I would recommend this itinerary for anyone who wants to see lots of small towns and villages in Europe. The crew on our cruise were outstanding and the attention to detail in the dining room was very impressive. Our waitress ...
Due to Covid this was our first cruise for 3 1/2 years and our first river cruise
We weren't sure how we would like the much smaller experience but absolutely loved it!
We were lucky as we booked the Owners Suite which gave us 50% more cabin space and being the first week of service all the staff (who were lovely) were very keen the scenery was beautifully green and the temperatures very ...
Viking River Cruises came highly recommended by friends we trust, so we were confident in booking with Viking. The opportunity to add on three nights in Paris post-cruise was appealing to Angela, who had never been to France, and the cruise through Bordeaux appealed to Tom, a wine enthusiast. All-in-all, this experience ticked all the boxes for us. The bonus was all the wonderful and interesting ...
Basel to Amsterdam…an area we had not explored…last time on Uniworld was 2008….much improved since then, the cabin was a suite on Princess deck 4**, while pricey we enjoyed all the little perks like the well stocked frig, snacks, loads of storage for a river boat plus the little balcony. Tho for the most part the weather was typical of that time of year, cloudy followed by rain and more cloudy…the ...
I choose this trip because I wanted to see all the castles on the river and the area. I can’t say enough how great it was, the staff so friendly and helpful, the food was really wonderful. I am already looking where my next river cruise with Viking will be. Everything that Viking did from the great snacks out all the time and early morning coffee stations made this a really great treat for an ...
This was our 6th Viking river cruise and we have been running out of rivers. We read a lot about the Dordogne river region, we knew nothing about the Garonne river, and wanted to see the area and the city of Bordeaux. We can see now that compared to our past river cruises, this part of France was not as picturesque and interesting. It was really all about wine. While appreciating the opportunity ...
We chose the cruise after watching many Viking commercials during the pandemic and were impressed with Viking's image. Additionally, we had friends who had great experience on Viking cruises and we trusted their recommendation. W We chose this particular cruise because we wanted to sail on a smaller, less crowded boat and really wanted to explore the Bordeaux region of France. Based on research ...
