Background
• Over 600+ days cruising with Crystal Cruises from 1994 through February 2020.
• Last cruised Windstar Cruises on the sailing yachts WindSong in 1993 and WindSpirit in 1995 when under previous HAL ownership.
• Never sailed Star Pride under its previous incarnations as Seaborne Pride or as Star Pride prior to its “stretching”, so we have nothing to compare its previous ...
We chose tis cruise because going to the Norwegian fjords was on my wife's bucket list. Viking did not give us good directions on how to find the exact location for check in in Greenwich, UK. After check in, Viking made us stand in the line in the sun for a long time to board a tender to the ship docked in the River Thames; that was awful. Once on board, the crew were friendly and helpful. Our ...
I have just returned from a 14 night cruise around the Mediterranean on Queen Mary 2. Whilst we have travelled many times on Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria this was my first time on QM2.
One cannot help but be impressed by the sheer size, spaciousness and quality of the interior of the ship, evoking the grandeur of past ocean-going liners. The Royal Court theatre is quite impressive ...
Sailing to North Norway and north of the Artic Circle seemed an adventure we had never done. It appeared to feature many unique locations and experiences. Sailing on Viking, the Norwegian cruise company, felt like a good fit. Viking is a premier cruise line with many wonderful features. The dining is very good, both food and service. The Afternoon Tea, served in the Wintergarden, is an elegant ...
My husband and I have traveled quite a bit and seen much of the world. The northern part of Norway was unknown to us and we chose this itinerary as it was different. We saw many different parts of northern Scotland and the coast of Norway as far north as Nordkappe or North Cape which is as northern as civilization goes.
The Viking Venus is a beautiful vessel with all the amenities one could ...
There were faults with this cruise, but not over the things that are important to me. These are cabin, food, service, a calm and serene atmosphere, an elegant and spacious ship. All these aspects were excellent, especially the quality of service, which was faultless. The passenger/crew ratio of 1.77:1 was good, and there seemed more than enough staff. Yes, the QM2, being an ocean liner does have ...
Embarkation very chaotic
The room is very nice but the bed is small
Room staff very good
Restaurant - staff generally poor and not very helpful
-maitre D of the main restaurant is non existent
-food quality is hit and miss and mostly miss. not the same as Oceania or Regent
- the communication system between kitchen ...
Are we seeing the end of cruising’s golden age? Months of false starts, cancellations and frankly awful standards of service from certain companies - no names no pack drill - had made me pessimistic but having just returned home from a 14-night cruise to the Mediterranean on board Cunard’s QM2, I’m brimming with confidence. The good times are back!
QM2 is an elegant ship - plenty of dark ...
We have sailed with Cunard since 2004 we have diamond passenger status, but this ship was a disaster, we paid £13,500 for a p1 grill room for a two week voyage , the cabin wasn’t as clean as it should be , the toilet bowl VERY obviously wasn’t clean, and my husband stupidly used the brush to clean it before I got a chance to call the steward, the tv system in the rooms is still worse than rubbish ...
After initial difficulties over travel arrangements, not Scenic's fault but not well handled, we arrived on board with some anxieties. Delighted to say all concerns were dispelled by a fantastic experience from beginning to end. Staff at every level, (cabin, restaurants, bars, excursion team) went above and beyond to meet guests' desires including a special menu arranged in Koko restaurant after a ...
