We wanted to see the West Mediterranean Coast; Barcelona, Marseilles, Monaco, St Tropez, Florence and Rome, so decided to do this cruise with Viking. We thought late Feb - early March would be OK to travel, with some cool nights but weather in the 40's.
Barcelona was a wonderful place to embark - we spent a few days prior to the cruise - Gaudi, La Sagrada de Familia, the Castle, and some ...
This was a very strange experience. I will divide this review into two sections: the cruise & ship itself; and our visit to Cuba.
Regarding the cruise, state rooms are extremely large and comfortable. The ship is immaculate. The cabin stewards, waitstaff, and crew members are delightful and appeared genuinely interested in each passenger's comfort. The entertainers, including a married couple, ...
I've always wanted to see the Philippines and Borneo and Silversea offered an interesting itinerary visiting these places. And as usual Silversea and especially their crew went beyond anything to make this trip a memorable one.
I read a few complaints that the Shadow is old. No she is not. It is a beautiful ship and still in a very good shape. Yes there might be a few things that need a bit of ...
We will celebrate our 25th Anniversary this year so wanted to take a special trip. We chose this cruise because it visited areas (countries/cities) we wanted to see. Even though we went in the off season, weather was good overall and crowds were much smaller, making the sightseeing very enjoyable. We took some of the included shore excursions and chose a few that were extra. All were wonderful. We ...
Chose this cruise because of ports that hadn’t been to before. Even though it was Winter weather was cool but very mild.
The ports were all very interesting and tours provided by the locals were excellent. We enjoyed the port of Trapani in Sicily best of all the ports. Naples and Sardinia not so much but that is our opinion. The cabins are the best spacious clean lines great linens and ...
We combined the Southern Mediterranean cruise with the Iconic Cities of the Western Mediterranean cruise. We wanted to see Barcelona again as well as the stops in France, Italy and Africa. The weather was not cooperating including temperatures near freezing, snow in Monaco and high winds that caused us to miss two ports. We were able to add a few ports in lieu of the ones we missed that were ...
I chose this cruise to see the Mediterranean and explore cities. The weather was terrible. It snowed or rained almost everyday. The Barcelona tour was terrible. Couldn't understand the tour guide. Asked tour guide if we were going to sagra da familia and she replied yes we will see gothic church. In fact we were taken to a gothic church but it wasn't sagar da familia. Multiple people on the bus ...
Dear Cruisemed18,
Thank you for taking the time to review your Mediterranean cruise. We regret to hear that the weather, air itinerary and vendor service on the shore excursions did not live...
The itinerary was interesting. Viking has a great reputation, so we decided to give it a try. The food on board was excellent, with many great choices. We found our room a little small with limited storage, but otherwise it was a lovely room. The bathroom was roomy and the heated floors were great, since the ports were unusually cold the week of our trip.
The staff was great, friendly and ...
Just returned from Feb 21-March 1 sailing. I have never been so cold in my life! Rain, sleet, snow, rain and WIND. Guides carried on no matter what. Prices of sweaters, etc for sale in Viking Shop were exorbitant. Should have been alternate plans available with more bus tours rather than walking. Better to sail in shoulder seasons but it was what it was. The ship was beautiful, cabin on deck ...
The cruise visited places that were not easily accessed by road. The ports and opportunity to visit Macchu Piccu was amazing. The Panama Canal transit was fascinating.
However, we felt the Queen Vic could do better.
Why with all the focus on ocean environmental responsibility does the ship use plastic cotton buds( refer David Attenborough,) plastic straws, plastic spoons, endless small ...
