The Norwegian Bliss was way too crowded. 4200 people and two elevator areas made it always a long wait. Every theatre was crowded and you had to reserve a spot or you had to wait to enter. Atrium area was very crowded. Standing room only. The ship was so large that it could not come close to glacier. You were miles away and could only see half. All other ships get the whole experience. This ship is not suitable for Alaska. That was suppose to be the highlight of the ship and was extremely disappointed. The Manhattan Dining room was very slow. The waiter brought ketchup in bottle to our table and then took it away to Bring to other table without even asking. There was a private event for an Indian group on ship that took the whole front of observation deck and we were kicked out. Another night the Margaritaville room was blocked off for another private party. One night the Bliss Theatre had an entire section blocked off for them. Really? We all paid for this ship. Warning! Don’t use this ship if you want to see Glacier Bay! Read Less

We chose this cruise ship on the advice of our travel agent. It was amazing! We chose to spend one day in port on the ship, we planned a couple of excursions on our own through Viator, a couple of transfers through Azamara and one on our own. Everything went perfectly! The one "excursion" that we planned on our own was the Great Italy Tour of the Bocelli Winery and restaurant. Here is the link: https://greatitalytour.com I cannot recommend this tour enough! It was the most incredible and personal day ever! From the first time I reached out to them, to the pickup at the port, touring the countryside, the food and wine and the best driver and tour guide EVER, this was the best excursion we have ever been on in all of our travels. This was the most expensive of the excursions that we planned and almost considered not booking it but, on the recommendation of a friend, we did and are so glad we made that decision. My advice: Spend the money and cut back somewhere else if need be. It's that good! Now, the cruise: The staff of this particular cruise went above and beyond at every turn, the ship is beautifully decorated and we loved that this cruise was all inclusive; beverages, food and gratuities. I honestly don't know how anything could have been better on this ship. It was a perfect holiday! Highly recommend! Read Less

For us this cruise was chosen more for the ship and duration than destinations as we were already familiar with many of them. The Viking Star is a lovely ship and the public areas and lounges are really great with space always available to sit commfortably. Our cabin was all that we wished for and in our opinion anything of higher grade would not be worth the extra money. The cabin was kept immaculate by the charming crew and any requests were met very promptly. One day we returned during the cleaning and though the bed was made it was damp at the edges. When I queried this I was told that to remove any wrinkles they spray a little water. Just like home then? We found the dining in the restaurant was good though sometimes service was slow. Most food was really good though a couple of dishes were disappointing. The buffet was OK but anything cooked to order took a long time. The worst experience for us was when we ordered a premium wine and a wine glass could not be found so we drank from a tumbler. The much vaunted icecream didn't seem that special. The Chef's table concept didn't really appeal though the food was good as were the paired wines. Manfredi's was for us the best of all and we went several times and reservations were never a problem. Once there was a long wait to be seated and served. Lunch at the pool bar was good and service quick. Mamsen's was good for something different. We were really impressed by the quality and range of entertainment on offer both in the theatre and around the ship. The service must be one of the hgh points of this ship and most crew members were happy and helpful.Bar staff in particular were great fun and it was always a pleasure to see them. We took the drinks package and we think it paid off for us. Soft drinks seemed to be free during the day and wine and beer are included with meals but access to better wines was nice especially in the speciality restaurants. As stated the destinations were not a priority for us but those excursions we did take were pretty average. Catagena in particular was a waste of time as to reach the advertised Roman theatre there was a long ride and the theatre was actually 100m from the ship. With few exceptions the people we met were friendly and interesting and we would certainly consider further cruises with Viking. Read Less

21 Day Aegean & Adriatic Odyssey Cruise - fantastic itinerary. There is nothing much to improve on, the options for dining are plentiful, treated like royalty by all levels of Crew -from the Deck Crew to the Captain. I don't know how you can get much better, the training of the Crew by Seabourn is excellent, and they promote well from within. We had the Britain Got talent Winner-, young magician Richard Jones as one of the entertainment and he was excellent. Bar service and restaurant service was top notch..they still call you by name and walk to the table when able, and Francois, the Bar Tender from the Observation Lounge was outstanding. Itinerary allowed for 2 sea days, so kept pretty busy on shore other days which was fantastic. Along with the usual highlights such as Santorini ( although they should spend till 11pm in that Port to allow good time for passengers to tranverse up & down), some real standouts included Monemvasia, Syvota, Zadar in Croatia, Malta & Gozo - these were spectacular and Seabourn was able to get their smaller ship in. Watersports days from the back of the Ship are an added bonus, along with Shopping with the Chef, and open Caviar orderings available! Read Less

Liked the itinerary and found the ports in Greece to be very disappointing. restaurants on board the ship disappointing overall food very disappointing cold food and poor options. Our Butler service was poor. Virtually no entertainment on board. The Ports in Greece were very disappointing to us. Disembarkation was the worst I have ever experienced. 2+ hours to disembark a ship of this size. For the cost of this sailing we could have helicoptered between our favorite golf courses in Ireland/Scotland. Rented a luxury home in Napa Valley for a month. Will not ever rely on Silversea quality again. We could not have been more disappointed overall. The quality of beverages we could order was crazy poor. The Pizza restaurant could not make a crispy pizza no matter how many times I sent one back. I asked for Don Juan Tequila they could not get any?? I feel like the breakfast buffet was the worst of all. Read Less

The ship is new and is beautiful! But we have been on many other ocean and river cruises and, aside from the ship, the price point is not justified. We did not see our butler until we called him to the room and hardly saw him after that. While some meals were outstanding, in general the cuisine was not any better than what we have experienced on Uniworld and Tauck river cruises at far lower price points. We found the experience at The Grill restaurant to be underwhelming. The cuisine and service in the main restaurant was at times great and at other times poor. The best experiences were at the breakfast and lunch buffets. The onboard experience was also a bit lacking. There was only one show nighty, usually at 10 PM, which is a bit late when the morning tours start at 8 AM. The performances were less than impressive. We all took tours at each of the stops and found that more than half of them were not that good; especially for the price points charged for each of them. Read Less

Had a great time on prior Silver Muse of Eastern Mediterranean, Rome to Venice and wanted to experience the Western portion, Athens to Barcelona. The excursions were well thought out, had excellent guides and were well rated as to difficulty. All needs were supplied by and excellent staff. Traveling as a couple, we met many others who became friends. Entertainment was varied and professional. Food was outstanding. The small numbers contribute to a more personal experience. Definitely more focused on mature adults, although the children that we saw and interacted with appeared to have a good time. The scope of their trips can appeal to all interests. We are looking forward to our next cruise, to the Antarctica and also have scheduled other future trips with Silver Sea. Will hopefully see no negative impact with their association with the Royal Caribbean Line. This is our favorite cruise line and we will continue to travel with them in the future. Read Less

This was our fourth cruise on Oceania, and second on the Insignia. Check-in in Los Angeles was a breeze, and I had no trouble bringing on board 6 bottles of good quality wine, for which I payed the high corkage fee of $25 per bottle; yet I would do this again considering the very high prices they charge for wine. Food in all the restaurants and buffet was outstanding, and service was excellent, except for my cabin attendant who had to be reminded to do things. I really like the size of the old 'R ships', but the cabins, although in good repair, are way too small. While the ship had no dance or zumba lessons, the five piece band was outstanding, and there were usually five or six couples dancing each evening. Another high point was the wonderful bridge lessons taught by Harold; a very gifted teacher, and there was almost bridge play at several levels each afternoon. The internet was far-faster than any other ship we were on. There were never any lines for the restaurants or the tendering. There were some negatives besides the tiny concierge cabin. This was the last stage of the around the world cruise; avoid booking any segment of an around-the world- cruise; you'll be a second class citizen. Some of the staff seemed 'burned out' and exhausted. While the Panama Canal is excellent, the other ports are quite bad. Read Less

I like to unpack once and that is why a cruise is idea for me. I usually sail on Silversea because I believe it is the best cruise experience. The small ships and the attentive service are what makes this cruise line great. I like a bit more space so I usually select from one of the four top cabins. Silversea is all inclusive including whatever drink you want unless it is a very high end wine or say, aged scotch. The butlers make your every request come true. The staff work to accommodate you. I wanted more selections of sugar free items and they made me my own batch of sugar free blueberry muffins. They were great! The food is presented well and always a treat. They also provide nice excursions. The float plane excursion in Juneau to Taku Lodge and over 5 glaciers was the most amazing - it is a must! Read Less

Windstar has been on my radar for awhile. We are pretty adventuresome travelers and not big cruise people but theidea of a sailing yacht exploring the iskands in French Polynesia sounded like fun. After a rough year we were looking forward to a trip where we didn’t have to think or plan too much. Windstar and The Wind Spirit completely exceeded all of our expectations. I woukd call this line “ high end casual”. If you like mice things ( great food, nice wines, high level of service) but enjoy being sporty and casual this is a great choice. Most people enjoyed nice things but appreciated being able to live in shorts, swim suits and sun dresses for the cruise. I cannot say enough good things about the staff. We interacted with numerous staff and members of manager throughout the cruise and everyone was impressed with the level of service. Everyone was friendly and helpful, taking pride in knowing your name and anticipating your needs. The rooms was were way larger than I was prepared for based in past reviews. We were on the second floor which is above the water line which was a good choice for us. Our friends on floor one at the water line made me a little queasy but they said they were fine. Plenty of US electrical outlets , bathroom and shower was fine for my 6’6” husband. Lots of storage and a comfy bed you could actually walk around. The food was incredible, every meal every day. I took a galley tour and was impressed that everything is fresh, the only frozen item is ice cream. Plenty of fresh fruits and veg eatables with every meal. Loads of healthy choices and plenty of unhealthy ones but plenty of choices. We ate outside almost every breakfast and lunch. The main restaurant is lovely and changes the menu every night. The Candles restaurant option on the deck offers more of a steakhouse menu with grilled meats and fish. The onboard bbq was incredible with a suckling pig, lobster and other delights. The motu special event was not to be missed with a great show and meal on a private island. We loved the activities ( snorkeling in Moorea, jet skis in Bora Bora and a not to be missed snorkel and picnic in lovely Huahine). We also enjoyed the private motu day where we did yoga and massages on the beach. The sport deck was a blast . We took kayaks out for a while then floated on the dock for a relaxing time. We enjoyed getting up early to catch a sunrise and coffee on deck each morning. We saw some beautiful rainbows and dolphins on a few mornings. Rainbows and dolphins! Can’t get better than that. Other special touches included the cultural activities that were available onboard and in special activities. The staff takes great care to research and recruit authentic and interesting people to interact with guests. We made leis onboard one afternoon while we learned traditional dance and heard some great music . One night a local came on to tell us Tahitian history and tradition. He was fascinating. This cruise would not be good for people who have mobility issues. Lots of stairs and no elevators. The boat gets rocking and would be miserable for people with mobility issues. The crude would probably not appeal to younger people who want a party scene. With 136 passengers it is pretty chill. People were having a great time but if you want a noisy club scene then a big cruise line might be better. Pro tips- if you think you will be snorkeling a lot bring your own mask and snorkel . The masks get used a lot on the boat so some people were frustrated because they leaked. Bring shoes like Tevas that strap on for water, hiking around etc. don’t miss a sail away or sunset I would take another Windstar cruise without hesitation Read Less
