How Viking was different from the other cruises I have been on.

Review for a South America Cruise on Viking Jupiter

I have cruised with Carnival, Royal Carribean, Princess, and Holland. This was my first Viking cruise. Yes, it costs a bit more, but for 60-year old me, this is the way to cruise! Here are some differences I noted: • OLD passengers…..really old • Trivia winner gets ABSOLUTELY NOTHING……not a plastic boat or anything • No formal night • No extra cost for the special ...

What’s not to like?

This cruise took us from Buenos Aires around Cape Horn to Valaparaíso, leaving the better scenery in Chile to the second week. Unfortunately, we couldn’t get ashore in the Falklands due to poor sea conditions (meaning we had four consecutive sea days and a night in Ushuaia) but had been forewarned that this is common. Viking has a loyal following and most people we talked to had been on a ...

Thought it would be better!

Review for a Australia & New Zealand Cruise on Queen Elizabeth

This is the second cruise our family of 4 have taken. The first being a 10 day cruise with the Carnival Spirit in July 2017. We thought our Carnival cruise was great, fantastic staff, good food and lovely atmosphere. So when booking this 5-star Cunard cruise, I was assuming it would be of a higher standard that we experienced on the 3-4 star Carnival cruise. Sadly to say, this was only ...

Love Viking but South America lacks high quality port visits like Europe

Review for a South America Cruise on Viking Jupiter

On the positive side, the Viking Ocean ship was great and a nice size, only about 800 passengers. But it had high quality entertainment, great enrichment lectures, a great fitness area, and super public spaces. The food, like the river cruises, was great, maybe even better than the Viking Long Ship in Europe. Service in all areas was superb, especially guest services, which I used a lot to get ...

South America, Iguazú Falls and the Galápagos Islands

Other reviews have quite adequately covered the cruise portion of South America & the Chilean Fjords on Viking Jupiter. My only comment would be to support the exceptional ratings given and echo the compliments given to the crew for their performance. I would add that on our cruise, we were not able to go ashore in the Falkland Islands nor were we able to go ashore on Magdalena Island (from ...

Billed as hi end luxury to Aus & NZ with exciting stops. Was average cruise but 3-4 times what it was worth. Very dissapointed with kangaroos &koalas tour, few kang in trees, two koalas - do not go on morning tour. Gratuities not inc for drinks -18%! We were sick on board & charged fortune for what seemed excessive treatment for flu & bronchitis. Profit center charges. Food in cabin ...

Not ready for prime time

I was totally excited to be going on this trip with Ponant to Costa Rica. Afterall great destination, French wine and french food... what is there not to like. Well was I sorely disappointed. The wine was mediocre and limited variety. At dinner many nights there was only one red or one white. The food was good not great(except for the special nights) and some of the meals were downright poor. I ...

A mini cruise to celebrate my wifes 65th Birthday on her favourite ship. CPS were as usual first class, luggage and car whisked away in an instant. Booking in and embarkation was faultless,10 minutes from entering booking hall to being on the ship. Suite 7030 was really nice, the only disappointment was that due to our late booking Guarantee Suites only were available and we were allocated ...

First I'm going to give the good and the bad on my just completed trip on Oceania Sirena. I took my son on a 7 day cruise from MIA - MIA (Jan 6 - 13, 2020) on Oceania's Sirena with stops in Key West, Belize Harvest Caye, Roatan, and Costa Maya. The ship is a small ship with only 684 pax. I can't speak about drinks as neither my son nor I drink. First the Very Good: We got to the ship ...

Wonderful Itinerary & Ship

Review for a Australia & New Zealand Cruise on Regatta

This was second of 2 back to back cruises on same ship. I chose the itinerary because I wanted to see both Australia and New Zealand, plus Bali, so the two cruises we took appeared to be a great fit. We are Oceania regulars, with (now) 14 cruises on Oceania, I think 4 on Viking Ocean (loved also, but it's a little more expensive in my opinion), and 3 on Princess/Celebrity (didn't care for). I ...
