Have wanted to do the Antarctic for ages. Already experienced Seabourn service so putting the two together was obvious. The service was at least as good as a Caribbean cruise we did last year and when you add to that a most impressive expedition team and organisation of Zodiac trips the whole experience was amazing. The itinerary started with a trip down the Chilean Coast encompassing interesting ...
Ditto other reviews: delicious food, few onboard activities, personalized service, beautiful sail-away events, phenomenal cabin storage, nice L'Occitan toiletries, great shower with 2 heads, great spa with massages, & best of all--fantastic talks by naturalist. But the ship seems tired--1 of 2 generators that power propeller went out, so kitchen was an hour late in preparing dinner the first ...
What a disappointment. Destinations were changed at least three times and itineraries cancelled at the last minute due to the coronavirus. Independent travelers were treated like second class citizens and given NO ASSISTANCE whatsoever from the QM2's staff. Passengers were forced to pay thousands of dollars to change flights countless times. The ship offered NO help to those passengers who did ...
Seeing the Northern Lights was on our bucket list. This was the first cruise we noticed that offered that opportunity. We have sailed Viking before so we were aware of the restaurants, food, etc. so we snapped at the chance and signed up. Obviously, sailing the north Atlantic in JANUARY is probably not the smartest thing to do if you get sea sick easily, and there are no guarantees that the ...
We wanted to see a part of the world that is not easily accessible and also beautiful. The few days at sea allowed us a very good opportunity to explore and enjoy the various amenities provided on the ship. All the crew were tremendously friendly and helpful. I particularly enjoyed visiting the spa with the large heated jacuzzi, steam, sauna and snow grotto. The fitness center offered all the ...
We chose Victoria again as it was going to Rio de Janeiro including a long trip along the Amazon. We started from Southampton and flew back from Rio. The ship carried on finally returning to Southampton. On board all food in the Britannia, Lido and Verandah restaurants was excellent. Staff service in all areas was also excellent. The ship's condition was very good overall and for those yet to ...
Having taken 2 previous cruises on Viking, we were pleased with the consistent attention to details, friendly crew, cabin cleanliness and comfort and over all relaxed atmosphere. Another very pleasurable experience! Thank you Viking for keeping your 5.5* standards.
Upon arrival at baggage carousel we were met by a very friendly Viking representative, who guided us to our transportation to the ...
The service in the Britannia restaurant was as great as always. But the weather across the Atlantic was dreadful. We were late into Bermuda and Port Canaveral. The Churchill cigar lounge was full of cigarette smokers and resembled the Dog and Duck pub rather than an intimate cigar lounge as it is advertised. Day activities were poor and because of the weather the decks were often closed. ...
(Sorry in advance for the long review.)
My wife & I had not been on any significant cruises in the past decade because the trend to larger ships goes against most of what I want in a cruise. Things that are important to me are: lack of crowds, not feeling like each activity or announcement was a grab for more money, food properly prepared (does not need to be uber-high end, but it shouldn't ...
I treated my art teaching daughter to this cruise during her Christmas vacation. She had never been on a cruise previously and was impressed with the beautiful Viking Star amenities. Our cabin was roomy and comfortable. I don't think my daughter believed that we could have a 4 star meal every night at your excellent restaurant. We particularly enjoyed the New Year's Day brunch which was a ...
