We were very surprised by the amount of motion that this ship exhibits when under way. On two of the four sea days, it was difficult sleeping overnight due to the sometimes abrupt motion. We have sailed on other ships the same size or smaller and never experienced any thing close to the motion we had all day and night when at sea. You will not need to drink much alcohol when at sea because you ...
We had sailed on this ship before in the Mediterranean and had enjoyed the experience and would go to this area again with them.
However there are some things that need tweaking. The excursions that we booked from the ship were not well planned at all or good value. The itinerary was changed before we left to add Cuba (where we had not wanted to visit) and took away two other ports of call ...
We chose this cruise because of the Asia Itinerary On the positive side it is amazing as to how the crew expertly handles all the various countries seemingly complicated immigration requirements and inspections.
The cruise did not get off to a good start after a long flight to Shanghai the transfer from airport to ship was pretty disorganized When arriving at the ship we were required to fill ...
We jumped on this cruise when we heard it was going to Cuba - the first of the Norwegian line ships to do so. It was also visiting some Central and South American ports we wanted to visit.
We had already travelled with Oceania before on Marina's sister ship, Riviera, so we knew what to expect and had no difficulty in finding our way around.
The quality of the food was uniformly excellent, ...
We chose this cruise because of the itinerary which started in china and included japan, vietnam, cambodia and thailand. Initially the weather was cold, nearly freezing but warmed up as we headed south finishing at 97 in bangkok. There was a lot more security than on previous trips, so check in took 20 minutes even though there were only a handful of people in front of us. We had our chinese visa ...
This was our fifth cruise with this line and we were in the minority. Most passengers we met had enjoyed many, many more. Service is attentive. Our circumnavigation of Australia provided us with diversity in choice of ports. We appreciated the shuttle buses to the city centres. Unlike other cruise lines we have used, Oceania has a nice bistro where you can get speciality coffees and not have ...
Small ship had advantages and disadvantages: in rough seas the motion is much more of a problem and we had some very rough seas. Another advantage is that smaller ship can dock much closer to towns than larger ones: unfortunately, this was not the case and we were shunted to ports much further than I expected.
Cabins are incredibly small and they look large compared to the bathrooms. Again, the ...
We have sailed on Viking River Cruises and were so impressed with the service, the size of the rooms, meals, the included excursions we thought it would be the same for the ocean. While the food was first rate, did have a few minor issues with meal service which we pointed out at the end of our cruise. Overall the included excursions and for the most part the executions of getting to them was ...
Partner and I (UK British) have not ocean cruised for 25 years, so this was an 'experiment' after several wonderful Viking river cruises. Ship was almost brand new - I was worried about potential problems with the ship, however all went well with few disappointments.
The Wows:
Very nice small ship. 930 passengers but many times we were almost the only people on the prom deck, in the explorer ...
I was invited to join a few other couples who booked this cruise. None of us had cruised with Viking and were looking forward to it. Viking sky was a beautiful, relaxing ship that was stellar in all ways. The cabins and bathrooms are roomy and relaxing. The open dining was still easy to get a group together and the food was very good. We also ate a few nights at the buffet after a long ...
