We are long time Princess Cruisers. Wanted a nice get away and the price was very nice. The ship is scheduled for dry dock in March and could use some freshening up. Definitely needs new beds. Entertainment was good. Was hoping for a new Stephen Schwartz show, but some of the dancers had bee injured and they could not do the show with the remaining members. But the ones who were left were among the best we have ever seen on Princess. The show Encore was fantastic and the new deck party is a lot of fun. The islands we visited have made good progress recovering from Irma. But you can see that there was major damage. Enjoyed Antigua and we were the first Princess ship to can at St Maarten. The people in St Maarten were really glad to see us back. Just embraced the return of tourists. One of the reasons we picked this cruise was to see the Dominican Republic. This was a new port for us. The port, Amber Cove is very nice-- not much of beach, but nice pool and great hammocks. Our Tour of Porta Plata was the worst tour I have ever been on. Terrible itinerary and terrible guide. Was hoping to see some of the nice beaches, but really rode around and guide mumbled and we went to a really bad gift shop and he did not want to leave. Wanted his kick back. Just a terrible shore excursion. Some people had gotten nice independent taxi tours and others not so good. Just not a pleasant port and I felt that Princess did not do enough to make sure the tour was a good experience. Also, was very disappointed that they had changed the policy in the Crown Grill to have an extra charge for more than one entree. I hated it on Celebrity and was so sad to see it on Princess. Also, for scallop lovers the wonderful scallops are not longer there. The staff was very good and we really enjoyed the cruise, just hate to see Princess following RCCL's policy of piling on extra charges. Read Less

Can't speak highly enough of the whole experience aboard the Avalon Myanmar cruising the Irrawaddy river, not forgetting the 2 days in the capital Yangon pre -cruise. Myanmar is a fascinating country as yet almost untouched by tourism, and seeing it from the river stopping every day at villages and towns is a great way to get close to Burmese life. The excursions were well planned and varied, but you do need to be mobile and able to walk distances as well as negotiating river banks which are mostly without steps. The cruise director, the local guide, who stayed with the cruise throughout, and the ship's crew were all excellent and the Burmese people in the countryside are just delightful. The accommodation and food exceeded our expectations, and the small passenger capacity ensures a family like feeling within a few days. We were all good friends by the end of the journey. Thoroughly recommended. Read Less

Very little to say about embarcation, it was quick and efficient! 20 minutes from curb to ship. The ship itself was clean and well maintained, except for worn carpets in a few high traffic areas. Public restrooms were clean and used eating/drinking items in the Windjammer and other public areas like the pools deck were picked up very quickly. My cabin was a deck 6 inside, I was a little concerned as it had a connecting door but it ended up being extremely quiet. It was a very standard inside, comfortable, clean and what I'd expect from RCCL. Entertainment was a bit hit and miss. Piano bar was fine as were the various location bands (pool deck, Royal Promenade...), theatre shows with the RCCL band and dancers were quite good. Other shows in the theatre were a bit less impressive (your mileage may vary of course). Service was amazing everywhere. Bars were rapid, roaming beverage servers quick and efficient, dining room and Windjammer staff were perfect. Cabin steward was amazing! Dining was the only aspect of this cruise I was less than impressed with. This was my 5th RCCL ship and the first time I was disappointed with the food on one of their ships. It was simply not up to scratch with the other Royal ships I've been on. Windjammer quality was ok but selection was lacking. Main dining room food on the other hand was not up to the level of quality I've come to expect from RCCL. Overcooked meat, dry fish, cold food... almost every meal someone at my table had to send back their plate. Ports were all great, I'd visited them all before so I knew what to expect. Labadie was a great beach day, and the ABC islands remain a diving and snorkeling paradise. I also booked the PADI Open Water certification course on board and loved it. Ulises the ship's Divemaster/Instructor was absolutely amazing and did an awesome job working with us to complete our certification thru instruction and pool dives as well as open water dives in Aruba and Curacao. The cruise's itinerary is interesting. However the ship itself is old and needs refurbishing. Reception desk - could be better. They weren't very helpful when a problem arose. Room - needed refurbishing badly. Bathroom appliances are old and need a replacement. But cleaning service did their best to keep the cabin clean. They also worked very fast and immediately responded to every request. Port and shore excursions were very good, and local guides were exceptional. Dining - very good in the dining rooms and buffet, a lot of attention from the waiting staff. Embarkation - our luggage arrived after 7:00 PM. We realize that if was due to the issues in the port, but we traveled a long distance and we had no cloth to change to after taking a shower. Disembarkation on the other hand was very smooth and well organized. Entertainment - I will give a C+. Two of production shows were simply awful, mostly because of female singers. Music around the ship is not impressive at all. Same goes for the featured singers and comedian that performed in the theater (except for Teacake). One will wonder if any of the artists had any auditions before getting the job. On the other hand comedian that performed in the Explorer lounge was excellent. Read Less

It is important to keep in mind that the Star Trek Cruise is different than the usual Caribbean cruise. Restaurants and bars were outfitted to look like something from the Star Trek series. There were numerous daily events for plans often including interaction with ST luminaries. On the room television, it was ST movies and episodes all the time. Fans would line up for photos with their favorite stars. For this privilege you paid twice the amount of a normal cruise. The entertainment portion was very well run. We walked on and walked off our cruise with only a minimum of waiting. What a change from other cruise lines. ( We didn't even have to wait for the tender at the Roatan stop.) Even though the cruise was sold out there was never the feel of being packed to the gills except when we left.( This was probably due to having so many alternative activities.) We bought a dining package at the specialty restaurants, which was probably the highlight of our experience. The buffet food was average, but the specialty restaurants were superb. Le Bistro was my favorite. We did not purchase the wine & liquor package, but instead charged drinks individually, which wasn't all that expensive. The ship recently received a face lift and everything is shiny and new. I especially liked having a coffee maker in the room. It allowed me to enjoy a cup of tea as I watched the sun come up. We had a balcony room on the 10th deck, which was pleasant. (Not sure why they put the television in the corner and put a huge picture directly across from the bed.) The bed was comfortable and offered a selection of pillows with different firmness. Service was spot on and friendly. What I did miss was the quiet spots that an introvert can go to. The library was turned into a sales venue hawking ST t-shirts and mugs. There was no shielded spot on the main deck where a person could sit. It was a windy cruise and reprieve from the wind would have been welcome. (The Jade boasts a special area for select guests called the Haven with its own pool, hot tub, and suites. They had a shielded area from the wind. We were not able to purchase rooms in this area because it was held for the celebrities.) Due to the weather, there was only two people in the pool in a ship of 2100. Usually, there was no one. There was a definite lack of people sunbathing, but that was probably due to all the activities inside. There was more than enough chairs. The stops were pleasant. I especially like Mexico. (I would have liked more detail on their shore excursion packages as opposed to just ratings. Because I didn't feel like I knew what the excursion entailed, I purchased non-ship sponsored shore excursions by looking at Travelocity ratings.) Our cabin attendant (Lizikia) kept our room in pristine condition and was always very friendly. As part of the ST package we receive a different ST appropriate gift every day. The bridge view which was available in the library on Holland was only available in the small thermal suite in the spa on the Jade. You had to pay to enjoy the view. Their spa prices were average compared to other cruise lines. The big star of the cruise was the photos. The photographers were wonderful, which meant the photos turned out well. We bought a 10 photos packet, which included a free photo ship and an USB drive with digital photos for $150, which breaks down to $15 a shot. We also had the opportunity to renew our vows at sea, which might not be offered on every cruise. As for weather we lucked out with three sunny days, two cloudy days, and one very windy night. Not too much rocking, the cruise was pretty smooth. My husband as a first time cruiser enjoyed the experience very much. He didn't put on his sea sickness bands once. We did not travel with children and there was less than five children on the entire ship. The Star Trek Cruise is not a great time to bring children. They turned the children's club into another sales venue. It actually nice traveling without other people's out of control children running rampant through the place. My only complaint was we showed up at 6:55 for our dinner reservation at Teppanyaki. It is a dinner and show similar to Benihanas. Our table mates, who had obviously been drinking, staggered in at 7:30. We sat at our table for over thirty minutes waiting for them. It is noted in the travel guidelines that reservations would be cancelled if you were over ten minutes late. I also did not get the cocktail I ordered in all that time, either. Never got it. Overall, the chef was delightful and the food was wonderful. I would probably choose NCL again. Read Less

Once we made the south bounded tour from Kirkenes to Bergen, in summer. Now we wanted to make the north tour in winter especially because of the polar light, but also to see the coast in winter, e.g North pole. Of course we made a sight seeing trip throuh Bergen, although it was raining. The embarkation and disembarkation was smooth, and without hectic. In both situations the luggage was satisfactory brought into and out of the ship, so we didn't have to handle it myself. We used as long two ships, MS Nordnorge and MS Nordlys. Both were very well equiped, enough space to relaxe and to see the surrounding. The cabin was only used for sleeping and dressing, therefor it was o.k. The dining was excellent, especially in accordance to the local region. The activities were excellent, the expedition team was the best team we ever have seen. The service was also out of discussion, excellent. Because of the expedition teams te excursions were very good prepared. The evening before you became information, all questions were answered, pictures were shown, he work shop about making photos of polar light was excellent. We had no children with us, but perhaps when our grandchilds are elder. Of course we will repeat travelling with Hurtigruten. Read Less

This MSC Sinfonia cruise was a 60th birthday gift to my wife. From the time we embarked, we experience awesome service as from previous reviews, we were expecting to be in long queues with embarkation taking hours. This was totally the opposite - we arrived early the morning, handed in our luggage, went straight through to the embarkation process and customs with a breeze - in all, the process took aproximately forty five minutes and our party started on the Sinfonia. Our room was clean and awesome. The public areas/toilets can be cleaned more often, however this was just a small issue. The other tiny issue was that we had to queue in the buffet areas, but this is also expected as I know that there aproximately a thousand people wanting to eat at the same time. We throroughly enjoyed the cruise and are planning/booking our cruise for next year. Well done MSC - we are certainly looking forward to cruising with you on the Musica. Read Less

We are Celebrity Cruisers. We have been on Royal the Explorer of the Seas and loved it. The Brilliance not so much. The main disappointment was the food for dinner. We ate in the dining room for breakfast and lunch and it was so much better than dinner. We enjoyed the bars and the music. Hated the smoking allowed in the Casino, so we never went. The pool areas were nice. We liked our room. The bar areas were fun. The cost of the beverage package was high for 5 nights and 2 we were not going to be on the ship. We enjoyed Key West and would love to go back Cozumel, we did a private beach club for the day, Nachi Cuomo and loved it. Highly recommend. We found the music around the ship to be fun. We enjoyed the Disco on Floor 13 for a fun late night. We enjoyed the Adult Solarium. It was also the place to get coffee and tea in the morning instead of going to the Windjammer. We ate the Windjammer for lunch when we first got on the ship. There is Purell everywhere. They do there best to keep people's hands clean. Staff was very nice. We enjoyed the ports, especially Key West. Looking forward to going back there some day. We won't be on the Brilliance again. Read Less

I Cruise a lot and this was my first time on the Norwegian. NEVER AGAIN!! They served the same food everyday for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The only changes to the meals were the soups and having pasta/ carrot and potato salads different days in the case with the toss salads. Most of the staff were very unpleasant. I got tired of hearing from people "Oh that's just their culture"... No! you are in customer service point blank. Speak and smile. We got the beverage package and most of the bartenders were so tight to pour more than a shot in a drink or got made when you asked to make a drink that was already in a premade container. Listen it's paid for and there is no way anyone will drink 10 drinks a day and I didn't like how the premade drinks was mostly mix or juice. I think it was so rude for wait staff to reach over you and and your food at the table while you are still eating to grab an empty plate. SAY excuse me and ask for it! And to make things even worst, I fell on a wet floor and was in a brace for most of the trip. They treated me like I did something. The asian gurl was so rude and unconcerning about my pain. I am still trying to get the incident report for my doctor. The prices were so high in the stores to buy liquor or gifts...UGH I can go on but you get the picture. Read Less
