We choice this cruise to celebrate our 33 wedding anniversary. We went with our son et his wife. The ship did not have a slide , my son was a little bit disappointed but we enjoyed the jacuzzi on the deck 15 with a panoramic view. The food was average at the buffet, bad coffee but the dining at Botticello was very good. We had a beverage package so we went at the International coffee for good coffee. and our servers Emilio and Romina were plaisants and funny.(table 28) The service was very good. We were disappointed with the AC of the cabin (A 306) We called several times , they came but did not fix it. It was hot at night with 4 people in the room. An accident spoiled my trip . The first night the door slammed at my finger. I had to go to the sick bay the next day because it was close . The Dr. did 7 sutures on my finger. I could not go snorkling or swimming the rest of my trip. I filed an accident report and had witnesses. The next day they fix the door (loosen) I had to pay the medical fees they told me to do complaint after the cruise.(which I did and wait for a reimbursement) The 2 nice things about this cruise was a tea time at the Botticelli in the afternoon and also a good tango quintet every day. I rated this trip poor because the accident and the AC in the room Read Less

My husband and I booked a quick 4 night cruise without the kids and had a wonderful time on the Carnival Liberty. Embarkation was smooth and the personnel at the terminal were friendly. We were on board within an hour of arriving. Our room was ready when we arrived. Our cabin steward was unobtrusive, but always around if we needed him. We were in cabin 2473. It is in the aft of the ship and was always quiet and peaceful. No one was ever in the hallway near our cabin. We have been on about 12 different Carnival ships and this was one of our favorites. It didn't look like a circus threw up! The colors were muted pastels and everything was actually coordinated nicely. The ship was in good repair and well maintained. Every employee we encountered was polite and seemed genuinely happy to be there. We have never been on a cruise with such a wonderful, happy atmosphere. The food seems to improve every time we cruise with Carnival. They are really stepping up their game. Overall, we were very pleased with our experience on the Liberty. The only complaints we had was the temperature in our room was warm the whole time. If it were summertime it would have been miserable. Also, there was a horrible smell of raw sewage in a couple of the hallways. I mean HORRIBLE smell. I hope it was due to a temporary problem and not a permanent one! Read Less

As with all RCCL, they go for quantity rather than quality Bigger is all that they have going for them along with more sports activities onboard than others. Go expecting 3rd class with crowds and you won't be disappointed RCCL corporate policies are the biggest downside to the whole experience, especially towels and up charges The crew goes above and beyond trying to overcome RCCL nickel-and-dime ambience This line is good for families with children and definitely cheaper than Disney, but so is the whole experience. If you are an experienced cruiser with more refined tastes, definitely go elsewhere like Holland America or Celebrity or any of the premium lines. RCCL could change some of their corporate policies and make the whole experience significantly better - but that is NOT their business model Food in all venues could definitely be improved easily simply by cooking items properly - Shrimp and Lobster severely overcooked to rubber that would not release from their shells to Pizza that is so undercooked as to leave the dough soggy - both of these are soooo easy to correct, but obviously nobody cares (OR doesn't know any better) Read Less

We chose this cruise to sail with a group put together by Pied Piper. While we enjoyed the trip, Royal Caribbean fell short of our expectations in several areas. We were particularly disappointed with food quality. In the main dining room, we found the cuisine to be average at best, with unimaginative menu options and preparations. Many of the dishes we had were just okay. We didn't try the specialty restaurants on this cruise, but it shouldn't be necessary to spend extra in order to have enjoyable, flavorful cuisine. The Windjammer Cafe was also a disappointment. The layout was somewhat chaotic, and at peak times, seating could be hard to find. In particular, there was no freshly-made food available; everything was prepared in advance and held on warmers. This just doesn't work for foods like most types of eggs, pancakes, waffles and French toast, which suffer when held for even a short time. The same applies to the lunchtime grill, where greasy piles of burgers (beef and other meats) were served in warming trays. Even when they were cooking more in real time, you couldn't get a freshly-made one hot off the grill. The French fries were consistently tasty, however. On the plus side, we enjoyed several perqs thanks to our Diamond-level Crown & Anchor Society status. This included free drinks from a set menu during extended happy hours (4:30-8 p.m.) at any bar on the ship. We also had access to the Diamond Lounge, where continental breakfast, specialty coffees and munchies were available throughout the day. While not inexpensive, we also purchased high-speed WiFi for two devices. Service was not completely flawless nor as speedy as you'd expect on land, but considering that we were getting very good access on a moving ship, we were pleased. We also appreciated the ability to log in and out, letting us use WiFi on our phones or iPads as we preferred. Read Less

the ship is new and has some quirky new features (bionic bar, the big arm that takes you into the air high above the ship by the way this is free) but they still allow smoking on the pool deck near the centre pools and kids area which most passengers cannot believe as you have to walk through this stinking area to get to the wind jammers if you are coming from the front of the ship, RCCL should ban smoking all together or put the smoking area right down the back of the ship away from everyone especially KIDS. we stayed in a front cabin which are nice and well appionted below the bridge overlooking the helicopter pad (got to see a very smooth helicopter winch operation REALLY close up courtesy of RAC rescue WA off Bunbury and have video ) BUT these rooms get a lot of wave noise from the hull even in small swell so beware there can be a lot of booming which travels through the superstructure into these 9500, 9502 9504 etc ,etc. there was an out break of GI but you need to look at the bigger picture there were a lot of ignorant passengers who we witnessed NOT washing their hands so they only have them selves to blame, plus this ship did originate out of china and had been working the rounds there for some months so we firmly believe GI was already on the ship prior to boarding in Singapore. on a brighter note the diamond club was excellent and because there were so many D members on board they expanded the D club into the music hall which worked well. this was policed by staff so that only members were allowed to enter having to show your sea pass (stopped all the free loaders). all staff went above and beyond to make sure that all areas and passengers were constantly sanitised and could not have done a better job. we as many other passengers were not effected BECAUSE WE followed the rules and instructions. overall we had a pleasant time. This was me and my daughter's first time on a cruise ship and it was an absolutely fabulous experience on board. The ship was always, always neat, everywhere you go and the cabin was clean every day even the public rooms was also neat and tidy. The service and food was excellent and so many to choose from. There were a lot of entertainment and activities to enjoy throughout the day and night. As well as the security checks and safety drill that was done. So there were really no dull moment on the cruise. The Port and shore excursions was done smoothly and fast, it proceeded with efficient flow and in a speedy manner. We had a great time on Maputo, the Portuguese island and Pomene. It was absolutely exiting and spectacular. Every crew member was friendly and always smiled. Everything was Excellent and I will definitely do it again. Read Less

We chose this cruise because of the itinerary and because the dates worked with what we needed. Price was within our budget. Overall, we were disappointed with Jewel of the Seas. We wondered if the crew was either new, or jaded. It was hard to tell. The service was not like what we have experienced before. The food quality in the Main Dining Room was poor, as was the service. Mistakes were made almost every time we were in there. It kind of became expected by the end of the cruise. I would have a hard time recommending this ship to someone, and honestly, we were disappointed with Royal Caribbean and expected more. Have had better experiences on other cruise lines. We sailed not long after Hurricanes Irma and Maria devastated the Caribbean. The port of departure was San Juan, which was ok to fly in and out of, but the city was clearly not ready for tourists. Our first port of call was St. Thomas, which was totally not in shape for tourists. I do understand that part of going back there was to likely help the economy, but as a cruise port, the island was not ready. Destruction was everywhere. We did an island tour, and it was frankly depressing. Royal Caribbean tried to make it out that St. Thomas had largely recovered and was ready for tourists. That is far from the case. If you are sailing to St. Thomas anytime in the near future, do not expect the island to be ready. You will see damage everywhere, and Magen's bay looks like it was hit by a Tsunami. Read Less

The Royal Caribbean Line is know for it's exceptional attention to detail. Our cabin was exceptionally clean with tons of storage, The food was amazing and the choices were endless. The wine list was also very extensive. The service on the Freedom of the Seas that we experienced was great and the staff goes above and beyond to care for the passenger. The ship has tons of things to do and you can do everything or do nothing at all but sit poolside and read. It's a great way to travel. The activities for children were also great to keep them occupied and they go out of their way to offer something for every age. The shows were great with very talented singers and performers and a good time was had by my family. I would gladly recommend the Royal Caribbean line to any cruise traveler whether it is your first cruise or if you are a frequent traveler. Read Less

Husband and I rate this trip is one of the best we have ever taken. Mostly because of the service of the Holland America staff was amazing? All staff including our Captain to the carpenters who built last minute dock with a Chief where there was none on the Amazon River's edge. We met wonderful people we now consider friends. Our cruise had its fair share of mishaps which of only added to the cruise experience. There was propeller concerns in Martinique, extra five hours. We drifted in Alantic ocean for 10 hours, our captain kept us informed at all times what was going on and then bough the entire ship drinks for an hour. The presentations were of professional quality and we learned a lot. I would say this was not recommended for children. On our entire ship there was one child. For those who do not do well with traveling with advanced age people, you might want to consider something else also. I will say it was embarrassing when 80 and 90-year-olds were doing far better than my husband and I who are in our 60s. This was a once-in-a-lifetime trip for us. The Amazon itinerary might not be for everybody, but we sure enjoyed it. We are going to be spending many times and years talking about this journey. I would recommend to do this one at least once. Like I said in the beginning this was the best trip we've ever taken. We would not change a thing. Read Less

The cruise was great. The staff was excellent and went out of their way consistently. The ship lacked a quiet room/library and had very little reading material. So make sure you bring your own. There were board games on the ship, but most of them were missing pieces. I was surprised that they don't restock every cruise. The internet service is intermittent, especially when we were in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. I did not get why they charge $25 for pool towel you don't return. It is not like you could take them home, or you would even want to as they are old and worn. The deserts need work. They clearly don't know the basic ingredients of most good deserts....Flour, Butter, Eggs, Milk. The were incapable of making bakery cookies, they could not even make a basic butter cookie. In fact the pastry chef who I spoke to on the ship didn't even know what a butter cookie was. The measl in the main dinning room were good, the buffet not so much. Park West acted inappropriately throughout the cruise. They boarded on harassment. Constantly stopping guests and trying to persuade them to attend their auction. During the action I attended, they mocked guests who went and did not participate. They also lead guests to believe that the pictures were original, they were not. They did not inform US citizen of their right to refuse pictures they bid on. They overly inflated the value of pictures. They showed a lithograph done by Peter Max and told us that it was worth $20,000, but today they would give it away by starting the bidding at $8,000. In August 2017, the original was sold at a gallery in East Hampton NY for $3,800. Surprisingly the cruise had more gay people than I expected. I would estimate that 10% of the people on the cruise were gay. Most of them were couples and kept to themselves. It would have been nice if they had more LGBT events then the one bar at 11pm nightly that they designated as a meeting place. An afternoon poolside brunch would have been much more appropriate. I purchased a few items on the ship including two watches. The price on sales days are similar to that of Costco. You won't get a bargain, but if you like the item it might be worth buying. All in all, it was a wonderful trip and I would highly recommend Royal Caribbean. Thank you Royal Caribbean! Read Less
