Chose this cruise out of New Orleans since we live nearby. Beautiful ship-but unfriendly and unhelpful staff. Many are unable to understand or communicate in English clearly. Numerous staff misled or lied to me/my family-often when they didn’t know something-instead of admitting they didn’t know-very uneducated staff throughout ship - $18 refund for missing one of 3 stops- thats insulting since the ship will come out ahead at the bar and casino with 8 extra hours at sea. Too many venues that are too small. If you want a seat you have to arrive 45min early. 150 maybe is The capacity in the bar we liked to listen to the bands in- 4000 passengers! Really?? Comedy show was awful-magician show was funnier than comedy headliner. Never cruised on a ship where entertainment shows required a fee to attend. So many extra fees - gym was incredibly small and cramped in an odd area. Who thought a jogging track through the middle of a restaurant was a good idea? Unbelievable. 4000 passengers and only one person at a time can rock climb, jump on trampoline and go down a slide! Unfriendly and unprofessional wait staff in dining venues. Cold food and poor tasting food except for two meals on the 7 day cruise. My daughter got sick in her bed during the night-I did the majority of the clean up including wiping the corner of the mattress affected with my wet wipes - the mattress was not exchanged when I asked them to do so - they just flipped it over and put new sheets on it at 230 in the morning. Saw cabin steward playing on his phone in the hallway numerous times. Linen/housekeeping cart in hallway entire cruise. You had to move to the side of the hall or corridors when staff were bringing supplies here and there - they don’t move to the side. Guest services doesn’t always answer the phone - more than once it rang without being answered or an on hold system would pick up then no staff would answer. Broadway show was fantastic. Luggage brought to port all together-arrived at or near our cabin one piece at a time til 8p or I picked it up myself when I found it down the hallway - we boarded at 12. Really? 8 hours to get my luggage!! First and last Norwegian Cruise. 7 royal Caribbean Cruises - loved them all! One Disney/it was amazing-numerous carnival-some better than others but this was the worst! Read Less

Very hard-working crew but simply too many people on the ship. At capacity of 3,700 guests, queues remained way too long for food, activities and tendering. Two small, cold pools (one adult only) completely insufficient for number on board and space outdoors and undercover are scarce. Kids/Teens clubs were inaccessible and poor. Visible signs of recent renovation were not obvious – still looked like an older, tired ship with incredibly gaudy, outdated décor catering to an American market. Continued hard sell (on spa, wellbeing packages, photography, alcohol) throughout the trip and unending pestering on guest surveys in the final days. This was our first time on a cruise and we were so disappointed by the experience of the crowds and feeling jammed in like sardines. Perhaps a common cruise experience out there however was definitely unexpected and therefore unpleasant. We will sadly and clearly be telling our family and friends not to ever book a holiday with Carnival. Read Less

Took an NCL Western Caribbean cruise last year and wanted to share experience with family...what a mistake!! The food presentation was good but taste was very low quality. The desserts were the worst! Even the breakfast pancakes were clearly packaged and not fresh. Looooong waits between courses, 2 hrs+ for dinner. We chose dining rooms because it was the best of the worst. We did complain to guest services about wait staff, met with lead dining mgr, but nothing changed. Additionally, we reviewed all of the policies for Splash Academy, and there is NOTHING in them about illness. Our granddaughter got sea sick and the staff in Splash Academy were very professional, but they said we had to pay $200 to visit the doctor to have her cleared for return. We understand the requirement to visit the doctor, but not for that fee, no prior notice, and no ability to use health insurance. The doctor only treated for sea-sickness and did not test for viral issues. (What if she had a virus? No quarantine, just $200 please) Even after talking with head of guest services, no apology or accommodation was made for the $200 fee. Beware, if bringing kids. A few other negative issues were: - daughter's room door twice left unlocked after cleaning - men watching TV in daughter's room after dinner (claimed maintenance) - late night (9 p.m) knock to repair a light while granddaughter sleeping - zero ice in room, unless requested - zero towel animals at turn-down (although pushed and sold in photo shop) - horrible smoke filtration in casino - asked wait staff numerous times for more water or butter refills - overall staff attitude acted as if "bothered" (There are still a few staff taking pride in their jobs; But, very few. I actually wondered if the SUN might be a training platform?) I've been cruising over 20 years, on 7+ cruise lines and witnessed the decline of service over costs. This was, by far, the worst cruise for food, service, hospitality, commercialism of ports and general attitude toward passengers and me and my family. Cruise lines should revert back to customer tips in envelopes, not pre-paid tips. This would ensure staff is aiming to please, earning their tips and they are guaranteed to get the money... I will never give NCL any more of my business and let anyone know the truth of this line. Read Less

Everything about this cruise line stinks! Customer service is not in their vocabulary. The staff was rude, condescending and acted like they were doing me a favor even acknowledging me as a customer. The port in Nassau (where we were diverted to due to bad weather) was disgusting and I felt unsafe. I chose to get excursion credits during booking but EVERY one of my excursions were canceled by Norwegian...but they didn't tell us that until AFTER we did the whole disembarking process. No offers to do anything else - simply, "You're out of luck". 4 night cruise and never got to set foot on a beach!! The spa...don't even get me started! They did not honor their daily special and WAY overcharged me. Then to top it off, they also charged me 25% gratuity that I did not agree to. $267 for a massage - you've GOT to be kidding me! I spoke with 3 different employees about the situation and each one gave me the "it's not my problem" excuse. I had to stop payment at my bank - that's how bad it was! The final straw that broke this camel's back was the communication afterwards. I submitted my complaints to Norwegian and got the same crap customer service. Basically telling me that they cannot and will not help me and that I am just out all of this money. I will NEVER, EVER cruise with Norwegian again. I wouldn't wish this experience on my worst enemy! We just got off of this ship--cruising Jan 11-16. I do not recommend this ship or carnival at all after this experience. We had 18 people on this ship, and this was the first cruise for many of us. Sometime during Sunday night, the ship had "mechanical issues" which maxed out our speed at around 8 knots or less. When we woke up on Monday morning (Amber Cove day), we checked our location on the map on the tv, and we knew we weren't going to make it to port. The captain didn't announce that we weren't going to port until 1020, and we were supposed to port at 1030. They gave each person onboard a $50 credit and refunded the port fees. We were assured that the issue had been resolved and that we would make it to Grand Turk the following day (Tuesday). All of Monday, looking at the map, our ship was headed due West (the opposite direction of Grand Turk) until about dinner time when we turned around completely and finally started to travel above 8 knots. Tuesday morning we were scheduled to dock at 8 am...Tuesday morning after 8 am, they begin making announcements that the wind was too high and the captain had made two unsuccessful attempts to dock. He was going to make one final pass to try to dock...the final pass, we didn't even make it near the dock at all, and then we just started cruising away from Grand Turk completely without another announcement. After about 20 min of cruising, they finally announced that we missed our port again and that they would try to secure a port for the following day. They again gave each passenger a $50 credit, but did not refund the port fees. Meanwhile, we checked the weather when we were close to Grand Turk, and the wind was only 13 mph, and we started heading away from the island at around 10am. We also found that another cruise ship (not carnival, but carnival owned) was able to dock only 1 hour after we left. We believe that the captain just wanted to prove that he could make it to a port but never had any intention of actually docking there. Meanwhile, this entire time, the ship had been so rocky that people were just vomiting on the floors anywhere and there were barf bags hung near the elevators because so many passengers were sea sick. You couldn't even walk straight because the ship had so much movement. They finally announced on Tuesday afternoon that we would be going to Nassau, which no one wanted to even go to at this point! If we had wanted to go to the Bahamas, we would have saved the money and booked a cruise only to there! They said we would port from 10-5, then they changed it to 10-430, then changed it again to 10-4.... Wednesday morning comes, and it's 10 o'clock, and we are not in port. No one was surprised at this point. They announced that we were running behind due to currents, and that we would be there at 11... We finally docked and got off the ship after 11 am. After 4 days of being stuck on the ship! The whole night we were traveling at around 18 knots, by the way. As we were at the beach in Nassau, you could see our cruise ship along with the other ships docked, and the elation was just billowing black smoke. Obviously something wasn't right with it! Then magically, on the way back to port Canaveral, we were able to travel at 23 knots. We were supposed to be back at 7 am initially, but they changed it to 8. And then we didn't actually port until shortly after, and they didn't even begin debarkation until after 9 am. The only reason we stopped in Nassau was to avoid fees for not stopping at any ports, in my opinion. This ship should have dry docked when it first started having issues months ago. Yet they continue to cruise this trashcan to make money. I will never travel with carnival again or with any of their other companies. I will say that the staff on board the elation was great! Especially the servers at dinner and the cleaning staff! Oh, and I forgot to mention that the pool was closed on one of the sea days for maintenance. Our stateroom had obvious vomit stains on the carpet, and the window was extremely filthy! Read Less

This ship needs major help! Waited in line 30 minutes in the red frog bar to buy a beer for happy hour to be told they were out! We opted for a SPA balcony, very hot, absolutely miserable. Call 3 times and still sweating! The ship seems to be grossly understaffed for the number of passengers. Even as a platinum member, service is terrible by customer service. Dining room staff is good but again understaffed. Lines are long and move extremely slow. The bars are the worst, very rude staff but it appears this is due to overwork and understaffed. The bars were NASTY, especially the red frog bar. Ship looks terrible, carpets are dirty and it generally smells everywhere. The shops are extremely dated withe the same old junk. It appears that Carnival has no new items for the past 10 years. I paid too much for this vacation for the terrible service! Read Less

MSC Divina, wow where do I even begin... I got off her today, first off we got to the port on sailing day at about 10:45 this is the first cruise I have ever been on that didn’t let you get on the ship before 12 they started boarding everyone at 1-1:15 we got on the ship went to the buffet had lunch they were already out of soup some How even though we were the first ones on the boat? We then go do a tour of the ship at that point it was almost time for our staterooms to be ready I feel like they weren’t ready for us, the ship was absolutely filthy the bar staff acted as if they have never bartended before how do you not know that Bombay sapphire is a gin and not a vodka are you kidding me? The crew on this ship did not was to be there what so ever, they were extremely unhappy makes you bummed out when you save up your pennies to take this trip, my favorite thing to drink is moscato by day 3 they were completely out of it they kept telling me to get something else.. why should I have to get something else when that’s what I like to drink and you were out of it? That’s not my problem.. the MSC marine reserve(the private island in the Bahamas) was awful, the food was absolutely covered in millions of flies as well as the bars, you know how many times a fly poops? every 30 seconds! We went back to ship after an hour so for some weird reason our room attendant kept hiding our remote.. so we had to call him twice because we couldn’t find it I don’t know if he thought he was going to get some kind of tip out of It or what but it was pretty rediculous so I guess MSC is not part of any kind of sanitizing like royal Caribbean and all the other cruise lines do “washy washy happy happy” half the time there was absolutely no sanitizer in the dispenser, as well as the bathrooms had no soap most of the time so gross, btw i got off the boat today and I now have the flu and spent hundreds of dollars at the doctors today to get medicine because your cruise line doesn’t care for cleaning hands or sanitizing on that topic I saw employees let the tongs hit the floor in the buffet area and they just put them back on the buffet line not even clean them! They also let their guests grab the food with their bare hands unbelievable on to my next topic, why can you not bring a cocktail near the jacuzzi or pool? You literally pay these life guards to yell at you while your supposed to be “on vacation” and tell you can’t have a cocktail while your relaxing in the pool? Wow but children can jump and dive in the pool. The beds in the staterooms are like sleeping on plywood! We had a bulb out in our bathroom for most of the trip as well let the state room attendant know about it but he didn’t seem to care about much. The theater should probably have handrails as well I saw multiple people falling, kind of a big deal. I honestly know why this cruise was cheap they say “you get what you pay for” and I sure did get what I paid for and would never take MSC again even if someone paid me to go on it. Read Less

We bailed dinning room food was so bad went to restaurants and paid for dinners our Cruise left a day late not their fault but sucked. If u want to party at the golden coral of the seas they will sell u drinks and a bunch a cheap crap. It’s worth paying more for the amount of work that’s goes into it.. the little show we went to good the cast was great had fun there. If you want a nicer vaca save a little more. I know royal is owner by carnival but two different experiences that’s for sure. Never again warning.... Read Less
