Cruise was below average. Not worth the money we paid for. We were around 10 families with 17 room and the experience was very bad 1- the room door was broken 2- the food quality was terrible and not much varieties 3- customer service in the Lido restaurant was very bad 4- very crowded, you have to line up for everything 5- 2 Small pools and 4 tiny spas for 3000 ppl are definitely not enough. 6- you have to pay for the spa, sauna and steam room. 7- only one good show for the entire trip 8- our date of birth were stored wrong and went to fix and still weren’t fixed for all of us so I had to go again. 9- carnival hub wasn’t working probably we had to do few trips to guest service to make it work. Photos are away too expensive. Unfortunately I don’t recommend it to anyone. Read Less

Too many issues and this from a platinum cruiser on Princess. There has been a very noticeable degradation in our last two cruises on this line (Sky and Diamond). Here's the good: -New ship with attractive decor, some new venues (Alfredos..) but lacking a library! -Fast, efficient embarkation in Ft Lauderdale and cabin ready when boarded @ 12:30 -Cabin steward one of worst we've had in 20+ cruises. No water or ice on first day; likewise the requested robes were also missing. Had to call Housekeeping and Room Service but they weren' t delivered until next day after second call! Steward left condescending notes like "left ice bucket where you can see it!"-we knew it was in the fridge but there was no ice in it!!! They charged us for the delivery of the robes and several wine glasses!!! Steward would replace dirty glasses but if there was any liquid in one he left it!!! Not once but every time!! He never delivered the debarkation instructions. -Long qeues for anytime dining and theater shows. You had to line up about 15-30 minutes and then when seated (if you were lucky to get a seat) had about 50 minutes before showtime!!! -Elevators--there were several out of service much of the time while you had long waits most of the time. The worst was debarkation when you had to wait 20-25 minutes to catch one and only after deciding to "go up" to "go down". -Debarkation was a zoo--couldn't get an elevator and a there was a mob scene in the Piazza -Excursions-Only took one CZM 001 and it was very good--small group (12) on a new Mercedes mini bus with an excellent guide Addy. This was a self guided tour of the Tulum ruins which were spectacular. Had been here twice before in 90s and again in early 2000s and the transformation has been incredible. -Cabin (mini suite) sizes were somewhat smaller and balcony definitely skimpier. -Specialty restaurant-Crown Grill was excellent--best meal on the cruise. Steaks were huge, moist, tender and perfectly seasoned and cooked. Sides were plentiful, varied, tasty and served homestyle. Best part--Yogi and Dejan who made the evening special! -As Platinum cruisers expected a little preferential treatment but got the same as first time cruisers!! All in all, were disappointed in the experience and likely will not return! Read Less

Bridge version. In my opinion the Ship need to be scrapped and Carnival need to invest into further training for staff, lack of maintenance has caused ship to be an eye sore. Rust, corrosion, wear and tear is certainly no priority on this ship. Cleaning is done at an absolute minimum standard. Process are not enforced or sustained. Dirty windows throughout. Furniture torn and damaged. Broken items are not discarded. Ceiling fixtures are falling away. List goes on!!! don’t just take my word for it read other reviews. If you’re looking for a wow experience through and through this is certainly not the ship. Staff are friendly and most happy to help. The problems is staff are limited to training and resources, offered this makes their jobs difficult. Don’t expect captain to greet you or have a photo taken unless you are willing to pay $25 for the photo. (disgrace). So many families were looking forward to a simple wave and smile. Grime is so visible throughout. Too top it off Carnival smoking area is in within the children’s pool area. The term you get what you pay for is a complete understatement. Witnessed Bar staff serving drunk guests alcohol to intoxicating levels. ( bar is so understaffed during busy periods they overlook what and who they a serving drinks too. To allow underage guests to be intoxicated on the ship is not right. Assaults on innocent elderly couple by young drunks. Security guards not present enough through the bars areas. All in all process need to be enforced for family’s to have a fun safe enjoyable time. Wake Up Carnival!!! Read Less

This was our fourth time on Divina, and our sixth MSC cruise (we have cruised twice on Seaside). On all six cruises, we have been Diamond members (formerly Black Card) with the Fantastica Experience. We have always requested a table for two, and have had it confirmed (not "on request") on all five previous MSC cruises. This time, I called MSC twice to be sure we had a confirmed table for two, and they assured me that we did. When we got on board, I went to the Matre'D in the Black Crab dining room before the first seating. There was a sign that said something like "please see the Maitre'D for any dining issues". I told the Maitre'D that I just wanted to be sure that we had a table for two and asked him where it was located. He acted like I was bothering him, and was extremely rude. He said we were at a table for eight. I asked about the possibility of being put on a waiting list for a table for two, and he said "A table for two is impossible, take the one you have." We later found out from a waiter that we could have been put on a waiting list. Due to the very rude attitude of the Maitre'D, we decided to completely abandon the idea of dinner in the MDR, and we ate all of our meals in the buffet. One day, later in the cruise, we decided to try the MDR for lunch. We were the first ones in line, and we asked the Maitre'D (a different one) if we could please have a table for two. He actually sneered at us, as if we were asking for something we didn't deserve, and he didn't want to be bothered. He did give us a table for two, and we were surprised to see that there were many of them, so I don't know why he was so rude and dismissive. Now I will list the pros of the cruise, followed by the rest of the cons. Obviously, the attitude of both Maitre'Ds was a huge con for us. Pros: We enjoyed the Cruise Critic Party very much. Thank you Captain and staff. We think MSC does the best Cruise Critic Party of all the cruise lines. Our inside (square) cabin was quite spacious, and our cabin steward did a good job of keeping it clean. It was quiet, the bed was good, and we slept well. The shows were OK, although somewhat repetitive. The food in the buffet was OK, not gourmet, but we certainly never went hungry. Cons: In addition to not having a table for two for dinner, and having to eat most meals in the buffet, there were also some other troubling issues. We noticed that the hand sanitizing stations were usually empty, or just didn't work. On two occasions, we did see staff stationed there with hand sprayers, but many times, there was nobody monitoring this. We brought our own hand sanitizer and used it at all times. The first two times we went on Divina, the casino was non-smoking. Now, smoking is allowed there as well as Deck 7 outside. We noticed that most of the people smoking on Deck 7 were crew members. They were also smoking in the aft public balconies, which were supposed to be non-smoking. Smoke permeated many of the public lounges to the degree that we could not sit in them. These included La Luna, and a large part of the Piazza del Doge. Debarkation was a complete disaster. Although we had "priority debarkation", we chose to walk off with our suitcases in the first group. There was no priority there, and we found ourselves in a huge line, snaking all around the ship (and stranding us in the smoky casino). There were no MSC staff members monitoring this process, and passengers were cutting in line, and many fights broke out. For all of these reasons, we doubt if we will cruise on the Divina in the future. We will try MSC again, just not this ship. Read Less

Firstly it reeked. It smells of sewage. The water they serve smells like sewage. Out of the 5 days we were cruising I can tell you I only had 1-2 decent meals. Bread served at every meal was hard and old. Food was always served cold. The buffet and dinning were the worst and least edible. We literally ate out of necessity. I can't even recommend food. Bring your own snacks and mostly survive on those. The staff were extremely inconsistent with rules and with policies that were literally posted for guests to read. Multiple times policies were ignored or changed at the discretion of the employee. We provided feedback several times when asked by staff. They literally just want to shove alcohol down everyone's throat and sell you stuff every 5 seconds. Oh and they painted without any regard for any guests or notification to guests. The fumes from the paint were horrid. I would not recommend this ship to anyone. I can't say much about others but I'd never get on this one again. The Bahamas was nice. If I ever cruise here again I'd plan to visit other islands while in Nassau. You can't really get to much from Princess Cays because they shuttle you there and back. I am 99% sure the next time I come will not be on a cruise ship. Save yourself the stomach aches, frustration, and overall lack of good service and fly there. Read Less

Went for a seven day Caribbean cruise. Casino was right in the middle of ship, column went up five floors. Stench from smoke in casino filled at least 70% of ship. Couldn't walk anywhere without getting nausea. First day of trip led you to Punta Cana which was locked down for the Sunday. ONly one store open. So what do you do ? Go to the mall which is half empty and only sells products residents want. There were a couple of decent restaurants there. Nothing else to do for the day. Why start you trip in a dead town ? Royal Caribbean stock is up from excess profits they make. Everything has an 18% gratuity attached, even if no service rendered. And they expected you to tip as well, all the time. Find services less than sister Celebrity line. Any excursions you got outside the ship, you were on your own. A minute late and they would sail without you. Cabin service was fine, but you received no afternoon treats. Try to reach your attendant and no one there. Entertainment was fine, but auditorium is larger in Celebrity. Staff was friendly, but this was a family ship and you could hear all the young children. Much prefer Celebrity line, will not travel again on RC. Read Less

The food in the dining room ms and buffet were awful, but the service was good. Our room Stewart was very rude. The casino set up was cool. Embarkation was smooth. The entire cruise seemed disorganized. We had a storm which stopped the tenders from running, so we ended up with an unexpected sea day. Our next excursion was to the beach in Jamaica. It was raining when we left, but the coordinator said we were going to the other side of the island and it would take about an hour, do the rain should pass. It didn't, and we got torential rains all day. When we returned to the ship and complained, they did give us 25 percent back.... oh boy. The cruise director had no idea what to do and people were all sitting around looking lost. NCL just kept nickel and diming us the entire cruise. We prefer Carnival and will be headed back, fast! I selected this cruise because our first cruise with Royal Caribbean was on Harmony of the Seas and the experience was exceptional. I figured we would give them another try. Liberty of the Seas is an older ship and the cabins definitely show it, from the outdated TV' to the tile work in the bathrooms. Our cabin was 9535, I seleced that cabin because of its location: close the the stairs and elevators and a hop skip and jump to the lido deck pool, hot tubs and food. The location was perfect. The cabin cleanliness and room service was just awful. The carpet in out cabin looked as if it hadn't been vacuumed for weeks, one of the cabinets in our cabin had what appeared to be blood stains on it as well as the carpet. The bathroom smelled of urine and the outlets were disgusting. I ordered room service and my coffee pot was delivered to my stateroom sticky with what appeared to be dried milk or cream on the outside and the coffee cups were dirty and the fruit was bruised as if it was from a previous sailing. The cabin was cleaned as I requested but it should NEVER have been given to a guest in that condition. Nothing Royal about it. The wait staff was A. Number one . The DJ in the night club sucked! Bar staff very nice and friendly. Read Less

My 3 year old had the time of her life, but I was disappointed. The Disney Oceaneer club for kids was fantastic and the nursery was also good. The adult entertainment and activities were awful. The buffet was better than average, but the main dining room, Pinocchio's Pizza, and the grill was bad to mediocre. If you don't have a rewards status on Disney, you can forget about booking any specialty restaurants, any decent adult or alcohol-oriented activities. Most of the adult activities consisted of Disney trivia, pop music, and NPC pop culture. If you're not an NPC, you will be very dissatisfied. They can't even get ice cream cones right-these were cheapest and worse I've ever seen in my life. Another low point was the quality of the hamburgers on Castaway Cay in particular. It looked like it was microwaved and it tasted gamey and rotten. If you're over 18 and not a Disney fanatic, any other line is better-even Carnival. At least Carnival figured out how to make a good burger at Guy Burger joint and has decent pizza. The cabin and bed were nice. I'm finnicky about mattresses and rate the mattress as a 8.5/10. I liked that the shower and toilet are separated and each have their own sink/mirror combo-that's terrific for families. The pull down bed and couch worked well. The wood trim and furniture in the cabin rattled with ship vibrations and became such an annoyance when trying to sleep that I engineered paper shims to wedge into the woodwork. The cleanliness of the cabin left some to be desired-the nooks and crannies had not been cleaned recently. If you like to sleep in a cool cabin, you can forget about it. The AC was awful and at the lowest setting, the room might only be as cool as the rest of the ship. I woke up sweating several times during the cruise. A maintenance tech looked at it and said it was operating as designed. I enjoyed the fact that they don't have a casino and don't constantly try to sell you drinks. I also liked that they had an accessible soda fountain so you don't have to ask a crew member for a soft drink as on other lines. The internet was horribily underpriced. I understand that they have a profit motive, but charging for popcorn, candy, and soda to see decades-old Disney movies or charging $80-$250/GB for internet access is a bit over the top. The least they could do is free messaging for FB messenger and the like-as many airlines now do. The ship was nice, but the styling was conservative and a little dated. No real complaints about the ship itself other than the miniature elevators that were finnicky. The engines and propulsion were smooth and produced little noise and vibration. Read Less

This was our 5th cruise, 4 with Carnival (absolutely no issues at all), but our first with Royal Caribbean, huge mistake on our part. I deeply regret that we switched lines! The multiple issues experienced & the extremely poor customer service onboard, as well as the follow up after the sailing, is beyond my comprehension. We conveyed our issues while onboard as well as a follow up upon our return. Our list is lengthy, but if you are researching cruises to take, I feel it’s fair for you to know what you can expect from them on & off the ship. If you’re an average middle class household like us, vacations are few & far between. And takes planning time financially. I had no intentions of sharing a public an honest & transparent review of our multiple concerns. As this is something I have never done. But after their response of our experiences onboard, I feel it’s necessary. I don’t want what happened to us to happen to anyone else. *Note: This is in no particular order. 1.) Smell. The odor of our stateroom bathroom was absolutely horrid. To the point that we had to allow the bathroom “air-out” before we could even enter it. EVERY TIME. EVERY SINGLE TIME. The ENTIRE trip. It smelled like backed up sewage stemming directly from the toilet. It was absolutely disgusting. 2.) Cabin Cleanliness. The cleanliness of our cabin was lacking to say the very least. From the moment of our initial walk-in, it looked as though fresh towels & bedding were the only things replaced/attended to prior to us entering the room. The shower? The condition of the shower was disgustingly gross & probably a future health hazard. There was & I’m confident that there still is mold growing in it. Yes. Mold growing in the shower. It just shows the complete lack of effort given to cleaning, prepping & sanitizing before the new passengers board the ship. Another instance, While unpacking our luggage & putting our things up, the shelves in the closet, which we were attempting to put our clothes on had an (extremely obvious) dirty pair of men’s underwear & a single filthy sock...Just sitting on a shelf in the middle, that in no way could have been missed/overlooked. Gross. There was a dried bloody finger streak directly on the closet door opening, proving again that it the room was not properly wiped down, or sanitized thoroughly. A handful of times we had to send plates, silverware & glasses back because of stuck on food & lipstick marks that remained from previous users. That’s just not okay. 3.) Food. The level of quality & lack of options was less than satisfying. The first night in the main dining room my plate had to be sent back because of the extremely visible amount of fat on my meat. The replacement wasn’t much better. So Instead I got to watch my husband & son eat while I watched & got to eat bread. This instance was repeated the third night. But it was my son who experienced it. The options were limited for someone who does not eat seafood. I don’t eat seafood. I get that it’s a cruise. But I highly doubt I’m the only person that does not eat seafood. The food is supposed to be a big part of a vacation! So it was a big disappointment. A few times my husband did ask for two of the same items, he was treated as if the waitstaff are trained to refrain from allowing that. Seemingly frustrated & hesitant for even have asking for such. Because of the lack of food options & the less than stellar quality of food, I was resorted to either pizza or Johnny Rockets. Which the pizza was more times than not completely overcooked/burnt & Johnny Rockets being additional charges. The “sprinkles” ice cream situation was another. There is literally ONE single place to get froyo! It was constantly “out”, closed for “cleaning” or “under maintenance”. And to close it at 9!? There is no one constantly manning the machines. What is the need of closing that early? So they have an outdoor night time movie with late showtimes & you can’t enjoy a desert while you are watching it!? It makes absolutely zero sense. 4.) EVERYTHING closes entirely too early. Both the stores & snack/eateries. We were so shocked to realize that if you don’t access those early, you won’t be getting anything. We wanted chocolate one night around 11ish & couldn’t get any because the only store that carries it, was closed. Late night sweets/snacks are actually a common thing. So not being able to get something so simple while on an actual vacation due to the lack of access was frustrating. 5.) Luggage. My son & husbands luggage made it to the room fairly early the day of embarkation. Which was great. However by 8:30 pm my luggage was still no where to be found. Which was strange since all of our stuff was handed over together. Finally, we asked our steward about it, so he went searching. Came back around nine & told me that he found it & I needed to go to Security on level one because my bag was pulled for a second screening. Again, confusing because my husband & sons made it to the room just fine. So confusingly, we all went to find out why & retrieve it. We got there, asked why, they said it was “pulled for alcohol being detected”. It made absolutely no sense whatsoever. First of all, there wasn’t even a liquid in my bag! NONE. Second of all, we purchased the unlimited drink package weeks prior. What sense would it be for me to smuggle alcohol onboard when I already have access to “unlimited” amounts onboard!? Again, no sense. What really pissed me off was the fact that I reached out to them the week PRIOR from sailing to see if I could bring a few gifts, in my luggage, WRAPPED, for my sons birthday (the whole actual reason for the trip). I was told absolutely. No problem. Wrap away. The gifts were a surprise & this situation completely ruined it for us. Security opened my bag right in front of my son who was with us. The surprise was no longer a surprise & I couldn’t have been more disappointed it was ruined. BTW- the gifts were books, dvd & clothes. NO LIQUID. In the bag. NONE. We were cleared, dropped the luggage at our room & headed for guest services. We were told that standard is “not acceptable“, apologized & were promised it would be looked into as to why the bag was unnecessarily pulled & they would get back to us to with answers. That never happened. 6.) I’m baffled as to why so many of the bars on board were regularly closed. The third day, we literally had to go to 4 separate bars until we found one open. Closed during reasonable “drinking hours”. We had to chase bars down. It became increasingly exhausting as that became the trend. The 5th day we attempted to get a drink at the Schooner bar. Just my husband & I sat. We ordered. We each ordered ONE drink a piece (first drinks of the day for us) & my husband attempted to order a shot with his drink. So one drink each. With one additional shot. Only to be refused because “you can’t order a shot that close to swiping your seapass cards”. Which were ALL ordered TOGETHER. He was shut down immediately upon ordering. He hadn’t even swiped our cards at that time!!! That’s asinine. Guess what!? That wasn’t an isolated event either. NOPE! It was only allowed ONE time. The ENTIRE duration of the cruise. Just one bartender allowed this. After many attempts at multiple bars. What’s the point of having a super expensive “perk”, if you can’t use the thing reasonably. If my account is checked, It will be obvious we weren’t sloppy drunks by any means. It was actually insulting. The coffee wasn’t any better. While I was getting ready for the day, my husband went down to get us our morning coffee. Wanting 2 coffee’s. He had HIS pass & took mine with him to use for our order. Our names match, we share a cabin, we both have the drink package due to the policy, it could easily be verified at the register. Nope. He was refused service. For TWO coffee’s. Not even alcohol! Completely mind-blowing, unreasonable & extremely irritating. Also! I was taken aback when I ordered a Spicy Bloody Mary at the schooner bar. The bar wasn’t very busy, 5-6ish people, with 2 bartenders. While making my drink, the bartender realized that they didn’t have enough of both Tabasco & Worcestershire sauce (important parts of this specific beverage I think). Once realizing they would need more they quickly, half a’sd looked for replacements behind the bar. They didn’t have any back there. So what did they proceed to do about it!? One staffer within ear shot of me turns to the other & literally says “oh well, she won’t notice!” Those EXACT words! Finishes up their version of my spicy Bloody Mary, or lack there of & puts it on a napkin in front of me as if nothing was wrong. What kind of customer service is that!? All they had to do was either tell me the situation (which would’ve been perfectly fine with me), or either call or go yourself to get the replacements. But to treat me like I’m an idiot. And completely unnecessary. 7.) For God knows why, on the 4th, at dinner, in the main dining room, we were approached at the table with my son being serenaded “Happy Birthday”. His birthday was the 8th. So it completely threw us off & embarrased my kid because it wasn’t even his birthday. It was awkward, uncomfortable & easily could have been verified & avoided. 8.) The activities were extremely lacking in substance & quality. The majority of them were “know the answer, write it down, switch with someone” it just wasn’t enjoyable. And highlighters as prizes was a joke (most however were just pats on the back for winning/knowing). My kid turned 13 on this trip. He is extremely well rounded, beyond his years & mature enough to attend things that we deem appropriate for him (he also looks like 17 year old!) When he attempted to play “finish the lyric” in the star lounge, he was again embarrassed because in front of EVERYONE in the room, he was told he could not play due to not being 18. Even though the age limit was never mentioned PRIOR to asking for volunteers. There was ABSOLUTELY no reason to A.) call him out in front of a packed room & B.) not allowing it to be a parents approval/discretion situation. It was a complete elementary game. No reason for such tight restrictions. Not one single cuss word or inappropriate talk/actions in any way was said or done for the duration of it. To also charge for arcade use was disappointing as well. ESPECIALLY, the high costs per game & not getting anything in return. Just an “I won” moment to have with yourself. No tickets won, no point redemptions nothing. That’s just crazy! Oh! And Flow Rider!? That was maddening! It’s not a secret that the lines tend to get lengthy for that. To NOT be made aware that it REQUIRES separate waivers (that you have to go out of your way for) that need to be signed PRIOR to waiting in line only to find out when it’s your turn, you can’t access it without a consent liability waiver signed!? My kid was pissed & defeated. As anyone would be. Not one person said a word to us about that. Not one. That info should be included in the arrival day compass that is made as a focal point that is awaiting on the bed upon the travelers arrival. Ping pong balls should also be monitored & replaced as needed. Having just 2 balls by the end of the trip to chase between two separate tables isn’t easy. Nor enjoyable. 9.) The beds were extremely uncomfortable. We feel like we hardly got any true rest whatsoever. ALL 3 of us woke up every day exhausted & sore. Every day. We still are. And Finally the biggest & most overall disappointing issue.... 10.) Customer Service or lack their of. We hardly saw any (if at all, really) an employee who looked like they truly enjoyed their job. Most didn’t welcome you with a smile, didn’t go out of their way & we were ignored countless times. They advertise dancing by the waitstaff including Johnny Rockets & main dining. Not once did that happen. Twice, just 2 times, in our 7 day cruise did we have a waiter/waitress approach us and Inquire if we wanted/needed a beverage from the bar. Both of those times were on the upper pool deck, floor 11. We never even saw one in the lounges during scheduled activities! Not a single one. We were either forced to do without or interrupt the people around you because you have to go order a drink at the bar yourself. That’s insanity!!! The majority of the ones we did actually see (not interact with, simply by their choice) preferred to hang out along the railings, people watch & twirl their trays like pizza dough. I was truly shocked that so many seemed to simply not give 2 craps that the reason they even have a job there is because of the customers. If it weren’t for the customers, they wouldn’t have one!!! We were also disappointed that literally ONE Evening, just ONE single evening, we went to our cabin after our “turn down” service & had an animal towel. Aren’t those typically supposed to be done at EVERY turn down!? It’s something we always enjoyed & looked forward to on our carnival cruises because each night was a different animal. I thought towel animals are kinda just a universal cruise schtick in general. They do have an activity class on the subject, but it definitely isn’t practiced for customers. It may seem a tad petty, but the little details are important too! This was our first family vacation for the three of us (husband, son & myself) in a few years after losing a son. We were so very excited & so looking forward to going on one. It was beyond desperately needed. Plus my other son was turning 13! It is a milestone bday. We just wanted to make new memories. Just not of this kind. Not what we anticipated. Not what we expected. It was bad. It was just so very bad. We are now just left feeling like we need a vacation from our vacation. And that’s just incredibly sad. I truly hope that this ridiculously long feedback is acknowledged, thoroughly looked into & new implementations are created for some extremely necessary changes that really need to be addressed. If not, reviews such as mine will eventually become your new norm. It’s just absolutely impossible for it not to. This was the generic response from CS: “Hi, Brittani. Thanks for your patience while I was speaking with the ship. We're very sorry for the disappointment you experience onboard and we had the opportunity to bring all of your concerns to the respective manager's attention. It is never our intention to negatively impact your cruise and I apologize that this was your experience. Thank you for your candid feedback as this shows us where we need to focus our attention.” We have no desire to cruise on this line again. And won’t hesitate to make others aware of the experiences endured & severe lack of customer service they provide. Read Less

This cruise was a total waste of time and money! Chose this ship to take our grandson age 11 thinking it would offer many different activities to keep him occupied. I had pre booked the arcade package, but found out that you are limited to a very few baby games and had to pay extra for any of the other games. The race track was ok, but had to book in advance to ride (at $15 a pop) and the times were ridiculous (book Tues morning to get a Friday ride), you could go in the stand by lane and possibly get on quicker. The virtual reality room was more fun for him, but you either had to pay $50 for a day pass or $8.00 for each game you played. You have 2 water slides, one for very small children which my grandson didn't want to participate with, the other you had to be 120 lbs to ride so that was out for him. The swimming pool and hot tubs were always overcrowded and restricted to adults (children could go in with an adult). Overall not a friendly ship for a pre teen. We had a mini suite that was almost a 3rd smaller than other mini suites on the Norwegian line, but the bathroom was much larger and very nice. We managed ok, but was not impressed. Our cabin steward kept our room great. All the food venues (except buffet) had to be pre booked and unless you had a reservation, which was almost impossible to get, you either ate very early or very late or at the buffet. The first few night in the buffet all food was served to you, no option to take what you wanted, so this slowed down the lines and they did get long at some stations We had 5 specialty dinners, was able to use 4 and lost the last one only getting in by being there at 5:30pm before the crowds descended. The food was only average, nothing special. To see any show was also a joke. Again had to pre book. Shows in main theater (only 2) are at 7:30pm or 10:30pm. They had attendants swiping your card at enterance that act like the gestapo, not very friendly at all. To see any of the smaller venues, again pre book or stand in standby lane. The rooms were so crowded that seeing a show was almost impossible and not a pleasant experience. The smoking area was also a joke. You were relegated to an enclosed room about 8 x 20, with about 30 people at any given time, they did open an area on upper deck with room for about 15 people, and an enclosed room in the casino, but you had to be gambling to go in there. If you were outside the marked area you were fined (many were) and some even had their room key restricted if you complained. I am a smoker (yes I know all the negatives), but I paid my fare just as every one else on this ship and felt very discriminated against. I do have to give the Encore its due. The public areas were beautiful and spacious, but of the almost 4000 people very few used the common areas. The shore excursions were also very badly planned. Arriving in Puerto Rico at 5:30pm and leaving at midnight?? About the only thing most people could do was walk the boardwalk area with all the vendors out doing their business. St. Thomas, again arriving at 6amish and leaving at 2:30pm. What chance do you have of doing anything in that time frame except shopping. Tortola was the only port with enough time to go swimming/snorkelling. Going to Norwegians own island on the last day, again a disappointment. The 2 excursions we booked were cancelled due to high winds, so sitting on the beach was about the only option. They do supply a buffet and a hamburg/hotdog stand. They also had a couple of bars set up. Overall we were very disappointed with this cruise and never again would I book the Encore. Please note that if you choose this ship, book anything you want to do well in advance of cruise date to hopefully get to do what you would like and not be disappointed when you arrive. I did not know (my own fault) in advance the problems associated with not booking ahead. We have cruised with Norwegian many times almost always on their mid size ships and have been treated like royalty. This sure was a big disappointment. Read Less

This was a family cruise with ages from 18 to 83. We booked the Jamaica and Grand Cayman as it was originally planned for grandsons graduation present. To start with, we booked this cruise over a year ago, and without notice our itinerary was changed from Jamaica to Cuba. Well we did not want to go to Cuba so we had to change our dates from January to Feb, which was the first disappointment, as there were two birthdays to be celebrated in January. We had 5 cabins, two inside, two balcony and 1 ocean suite. Everyone was happy with the redecoration of the cabins. The only complaint was about the balconies. There are really small and hard to even sit on at times. Even our ocean suite balcony was small and they had a huge lounge chair on it, so we could barely walk around on it. A lounger, two chairs and a table. In the suite the TV was on the side wall and was not able to be swung out so that if you wanted to watch it while in bed , it was almost impossible. TV selections were at a minimum. Only one news channel and it was CBSN, crap. Could not turn off the closed caption, it was on all the time and covered the middle of the screen. The sound was unpredictable, it would be so loud at times and then not loud enough to even hear when you stood in front of it. The closet doors kept banging back and forth, as the ocean was a little rough on this trip. They have updated the rooms with plenty of usb ports, so it was easy to keep phones charged. Our cabin steward was great, kept room clean and always kept our ice bucket full. Loved her. The chat app, was useful for all of us to keep in touch and find each other. The paid for internet was sparse in places and you would think if you paid for internet the chat app would be free,, but it was another $5. Food int he buffet was not good. Breakfast scrambled eggs were terrible. Bacon was good. There was always a long line and it closed at odd times. The deli and Guys burgers were great. Although the last day or so the fries were so spicy they were difficult to eat. The dining room service was good, food was mostly good. Elegant night surf and turf was offered for a $20 upcharge. I ordered it, very small but delicious filet and 1/2 of an undersized lobster tail. I couldn't believe it was a half instead of a whole tail. I will say the food was very good in dining room except for the 1/2 tail. I ordered a bloody mary for breakfast one morning in the DR, it came without a straw. I understand the big deal about saving the environment, and I do recycle everything possible, but I asked for a straw and was told no, I could not have one. I made reservations at the Italian restaurant for a special occasion dinner for 10 people, plus a baby that needed a highchair. The table they put us at was unacceptable as the high chair was sitting in the middle of the aisle when I asked to be moved to another table, that was in the back of the restaurant, the hostess said no. With no explanation as to why not. After I went back to her and explained that I was a travel agent and that I was not happy with the amount of no's I was receiving on this cruise every time I asked for something and that I would be writing a review when I got home. She told me to go to the other table and she was rude, but at least we got to move to the other table and enjoyed the great food. The appetizers were served family style and I think we got some of every one they had. The entrees were very good. It was worth the $155 that it costs. The wine list could have been better, but the wine we ordered was good. If you have priority boarding or disembarkation be aware they have changed the rules and only the ones in the suite or in your cabin are allowed to use it. No one else in your party is allowed. We had a 18 year old in our group. There were really no activities for him. We knew he could not drink, but the basketball court closed at like 5pm. The pool table was unusable as the ship was rocking so much the balls kept rolling all over the place. The small pools were always crowded and could never find a seat anyway. There were no nightclubs for planned activities for him. It was a little disappointing as Carnival boasts it has so many things for kids, but only if you are 17 and under. I felt the cruise staff was very pushy always trying to get you to buy a drink, jewelry, art or spa. The ship was very crowded and everything included a line and long wait. Would I cruise on this ship again. Probably not. As a travel agent it is hard to suggest this type of cruise unless you know for sure the person knows what it is really like. Read Less

We have cruised on NCL 6 times now. The 5 previous cruises were on the Sun, Sky and Pearl. We loved those ships. They were smaller and more passenger friendly. We decided to try one of NCL's larger ships. This was a disappointing cruise. The freebies they offer are a ruse to get you to book with them. the free drink package is NOT free. You get a hefty service charge addition to your fare. The 3 free specialty dining packages are another joke. We tried making reservations 3 months before our sailing date. Could not get reservations at any of the restaurants. We had to make 8:30 or 9:00 pm reservations. The WiFi package is useless. We did use the onboard smart phone feature. $9,95 per person. This is pretty much a hit or miss feature. It did save us from spending hours wondering around looking for each other. There were 7 of us on this ship together. expect to get some messages hours after they were sent. The good shows are the ones not in the main theaters, the bad part is there is so little room for people to attend that you end up standing during almost all of those shows. very small areas to have the good shows in. This is our first cruise with the all you can drink package, consider yourself lucky if somebody doesn't spill a drink on you. It made for a ship full of stupid drunk people. The food was not good enough to turn dinner into an event. The time it took to eat dinner was over 2 hours. eat at the smaller places. we decided that from now on we will search out cruise ships that have a maximum of 2500 passengers or less. NCL has been so consumed with making money they forgot about the reason they are afloat, the passengers! Read Less

We’ve been on many cruises but this was our 2nd with NCL. Second only because our first one was a disaster on the Epic Feb/19 and we were given a 100% future cruise credit. We had both the ultimate beverage package and the soda package for the kids. More than once we were charged for the kids pops. When we complained they made many excuses why they couldn’t refund it until we returned to port. We asked them to put a credit on our account in the same amount but they wouldn’t. We went to guest services 4 times trying to resolve it. No compensation. We also had many mishaps with our room not being cleaned. We complained about this too with no apologies. We had issues with our toilet not flushing and were told this is common on all NCL ships. Although for the most part the food quality was fine we had terrible service in one of the speciality restaurants. The server completely ignored us and we sat for 45 mins with our finished dinner plates in front of us. The tender process was long and drawn out. There was zero communication from the staff. There only seemed to be one tender ship shuttling passengers to the island. It took nearly 2 hours from start to finish and this is with a reservation in group B. The kids were disappointed that ropes course wasn’t opened until day 4. They really enjoyed it once it opened up. The entertainment is great but you must have a reservation. We missed out on a few shows because we didn’t know on day 1 that we needed to book in advance for future shows. Two of the shows we were able to book reservations prior to the cruise. If you think freestyle means you can eat whenever you want, think again. A reservation is needed for Manhattan room and specialty dining. Dinner line ups, even if you have a reservation, are pure chaos. Even the staff couldn’t tell us where the line up starts. We won’t be sailing again with NCL. We will stick to the cruise lines that offer better value and customer service. Read Less

Just back from our short cruise on the Liberty. I am a Platinum with Carnival, have been cruising with them for years. The last past two years we did cruise with Royal Caribbean, on the Oasis and then the Harmony because we wanted to cruise on the BIG ships. Anyway...we are booked on the Mardi Gras on 01/02.21 already. Now why I am writing this. We were not pleased at all with this last cruise. The only thing clean was our cabin. People that also traveled with us were not as lucky as we were with their cabin. The food was really bad, service was terrible. We have never had any of this before. In the dining room it took forever for our food to come and when it did it was not hot at all. The portions have been reduced to nothing at all. I mean my vegetable was broccoli, I had "one" little piece not as big as my thumb on my plate! As I said the food was not good at all. What a change from before when I use to brag about Carnival to others and got them to go on their ships. No more lobster nights either ! ! ! The buffet on the lido deck was no better, food was not hot and was NOT good. The BBQ was burnt and tasteless. The bake beans ...YUCK! Now we have had Guy's BBQ on other cruises and it was the best. Not this cruise. Each time we got Pizza it was brunt too (black Crust), hardly any cheese and toppings. The wonderful shows that Carnival use to put on are no more. The games and the Fun all gone. I have talked to a few relatives and friend's since getting back and they agree with me. Carnival has changed and not for the better. Since we are booked on the Mardi Gras next year we will give Carnival one more chance. Hopefully they will wake up. This is no way to keep them coming back like we have been doing for years and we take at lest one cruise a year. If the Mardi Gras disappoints us like this last cruise we will forever go with other cruise lines and tell others about how Carnival has forgotten about the FUN, and Value that they were know for. Clean up your ships, bring back the FUN to your cruises and PLEASE go back to your out of this world Food that you use to have. Read Less
