Me and wife wanted to try out this new 2019 ship and love watching Cirque de Soleil. Got a great price on an inside cabin but had to many customer service problems. This is our 1st and will be our last cruise with MSC. Our our ship excursion we were given a sticker with our group number and were told to wait to be called. After 3 time that I ask another agent and he told us that the bus had already left 20 minutes ago. I explained to him that we were told to sit and wait untill called. He responded "NO he did not tell you that". Luckily another group of 2 and 3 passengers were also told the same thing. Manager appologized and told us to pay taxi for the 7 of us to try to catch the tour bus at the first stop. She left but we then realized that 7 adults couldnt fit in one small 3 row taxi cab so we had to make arrangement to get a van and pay more. The MSC manager should have stayed until we left to make sure we were taken care of. There was alot of little problems with the customer service that we will never travel with MSC. On one reentry we had to wait in line 30 minutes in the 95 hot room. They only had 1 security agent and 1 xray machine to check people in. The room had no air or fans. Absolutely NO excuse to go through these conditions on a VACATION. Overall alot of the staff does not know what or where things are on the boat. The buffet has alot of dead times where very little food is available Not one time did any employee mention washing your hands or sanitizer before people are entering food area. It was rare to see anyone use sanitizer or wash there hands before the buffet lines. This seems like a serious health safety problem on this boat. Cirque shows were good. The other shows were average. Cant believe that one of there shows is a hand shadow show. Every port has new passengers embarking and disembarking so you have to listen to the safety announcements every day in 7 languages. I could go on and on but this cruise line is a JOKE. I have traveled with Carnival, Holland, Royal Caribbean and Norwegian and have never written a bad review of there ships. Read Less

From the warm welcome of the immediate team on emarkation to the seemless tender trips to airlie beach, port douglas, yorky's knob and others we had an unreal experience and all of our expectations were met and exceeded. There were numerous daily activities to suit just about everyone. The Princess Majestic team went out of their way to ensure every detail was covered from the food which was exceptional with great variety to the smiles from all of the team members. The rooms are extremely quiet and well equipped with the room attendant making sure towels were changed regularly as well as the bed. There was an older customer base on this cruise but you can never know that when booking. The food was great in both the marketplace and the restaurants with a great variety to suit just about everyone. We had a coffee and soda package that suited us and i think was value for money. The upper deck areas accomodated plenty of people for sunbaking etc. There were many areas you could just chill for a drink or sit with friends or hang at a bar and watch the bar tenders do tricks. We were on deck 15 in a deluxe balcony and found it to be perfect for us, easy access to food. The on board app assisted with the daily timetable so you could easily check what was on for the day from art and jewellery auctions to bingo. Shore excursions could be prebooked for day trips or make your own way. We have booked another cruise on a different ship but look forward to going on the Majestic again next year in 2020. The Majestic handled well in rough seas on the first night and then it was smooth sailing, i recommend the 10 day from Sydney to Brisbane, Airlie Beach, Cairns, Port Douglas, yorky's knob and Willis island. I chose princess as I had previously cruised with them in 2013 on the ruby princess by far the most amazing cruise I have ever done. I loved the itinerary and have always wanted to cruise with Princess up to the barrier reef. The majestic princess looked amazing new clean we were very excited to be on the ship. This was a huge disappointment the ship is catered for an Asian market so the food was of the lower standard The entertainment was boring and the staff unfriendly. Also we felt like we were on a moving nursing home everyone on the ship was so old it was truly a geriatric cruise even my 71-year-old mother felt out of place. The entertainment at night was so dull that they had a string duo playing at 8 pm 9 pm in the main atrium. There is also no place to dance no dedicated place to dance only in the atrium where all the ballroom dances with frustrated if you got in their way. We paid a premium price for this cruise and were highly disappointed the only thing that redeemed it was the amazing itinerary I’m not sure I want to cruise princess again which makes me feel sad because the best cruise I ever did was on the Princess ship. The food was terrible just terrible my carnival cruise was better food,Actually even the p&o and MSC was better. So disappointed such an Asian ship it does not belong in the Australian market its really catered to the asian market. It was a floating nursing home a geriatric flop with bad food and boring entertainment the only good entertainment was zinger band they were amazing. . Read Less

Cruised with Princess before, but the Majestic Princess was too big for us, very hard to navigate when your cabin is at the back of the ship. Were on Deck 12 & had to take lift to 7 and walk to the middle to get anywhere. Went with my Mum who has a walker, so could not do stairs, lifts always busy & waited a while. Atrium was far too noisy, all the action happens here. Pity there was no Promenade deck (which we did know about) did miss this one. Tender ports took too way too long to get ashore. Ticket system, waited over an hour in dining room, took about another 15 minutes or so to get to the tender and another 15-20 min to get ashore. Staff very helpful when trying to board tender. No Happy Hour, which I did miss, drinks package way too expensive for me. Drinks expensive.but managed with our OBC. Grown Grill was a wonderful experience, food excellent as well as great service. Food generally average, did have issues with consistency Staff could have been more friendly & chatty. Thanks to Arthur in the Symphony Dining Room Table 7 for lots of laughs & jokes with dinner. Balcony cabin rather small as well as balcony. Overall we did enjoy our time on board & ashore Read Less

We chose this cruise to celebrate our anniversary. We like the short itinerary because we had never been on a cruise, and I am super prone to motion sickness. My wife was super excited as we arrived at Port Canaveral. We went through the embarkation process and got on the ship in about 10 or 15 minutes, which was outstanding. We paid for the faster to the fun package, so we should have been allowed immediate access to our room, but we were denied entry by multiple people and had to drag our garment bag and carry on around with is through the crowded lido deck and attempt to get food separated from each other to have one person watch the luggage. That's not exactly the perfect way to start the cruise. As I stated before, I am super prone to motion sickness, so I prepared with the ginger pill dramamine, which did really well for me, but the waves were horrible and rocked the ship until we heard nothing but complaining about it from every cruisegoer we met. I realize this isnt Carnival's fault, but I thought it rich when the captain said we will be having just a light chop for the last day, and it knocked stuff over in rooms. The food was sub par on the buffet, Golden Corral is better, and the lines are shorter. The service is good at the tables, but there are very few things that can be done to make it more palatable because almost everything is pre made. (Even the employees will admit this.) The Silver dining are was fun, but 75% of our meals were just ok. The prime rib on formal night was a giant, universal, fail. We really liked our waiter though, shout out to Cuckoo...as he said he should be called. The room was small, but it said 170 sq ft, so, what do you expect? Well, the shower was clogged, the AC was horrible, and the sink had no water pressure. The AC was fixed on the third night of the cruise, the shower was same day, and the sink never was. Out room attendant, Michael, was quick to accommodate us with a fan and calling maintenance. Nono was the cruise director, and she was awesome. I have nothing but good things to say about her. Nassau was a disappointment, Princess Cay was awesome. The people for the most part were great, and the other parts were not. We will be booking again, but we will try other cruise lines before returning to Carnival. Read Less

I can’t begin to understand how any one can complain about the ship. Although I was one of the unfortunate ones to have their ports cancelled due to hurricane Humberto, I still can’t say a bad thing. They’re giving us a free cruise for the inconvenience and the staff did amazing! Yes being stuck on a port for 6 out of 7 days during bad seas was rough but the staff did everything they can to make us feel safe and welcomed. EVERY STAFF MEMBER on that ship is AMAZING ! The entertainment is top notch.. food is the best I’ve ever had and I’m sorry there was no waiting , ship was clean and never felt crowded. The entertainment went on even though it was hard to stand on the stage , trust me I know I was on it as well. You can’t predict bad weather and we we’re u lucky but As I said the staff did everything they could to make it a fun cruise . All our excursions were refunded immediately . I would highly recommend guys burgers and the blue cantina, food was amazing . The alchemy bar was hands down the best drinks and most talented bartenders I’ve ever seen and that’s coming from a bartender myself, I learned a lot of tricks from them. I highly Recommend ignoring the bad reviews and booking this cruise! Read Less

The new season for the Sunrise (aka Triumph), ok, lets break it down into a few areas. First shout out to the crew, they were wonderful, the whole trip were always upbeat and gracious as always. Second, the food we found to be cooked to our liking, and we always had our fill. Cruise Director-Mikey and staff most enjoyable we have encountered in 6 years of sailing. Especially having to make back up plans for 3 of the sailing days. Also he was very clear when he gave any instructions we needed to know. Entertainment- was refreshing to watch shows that wasn't the same thing we have seen on the Pride for the past 6 years. Now, for the flip side, for a ship that just went through a major over haul, some areas were sorely overlooked. And some of the deck plans weren't thought out very well, For example, deck 3 to get to the Aft Dining Room, you have to go up to Deck 5 and take the aft elevator (which most of the time only 2 of the 4 were working) back down to 3, The Carnival Hub App was a nice tool to have, sure you can bypass making your table reservation for the Aft Dining room on 5, but you can't request a specific table or server from the app, which in turn means you have a different server every night. The balcony rooms seem smaller than the other ships, there was only 1 night stand beside the bed, and the other side was about 7 inches from the wall/window to the balcony. Finally- with Carnival have a home port in Charleston, SC, you'd think that maybe they could have found more than 5 excursions for the guest to choose from when the docked there as an alternative port (since Bermuda was not an option). I chose Norwegian bc I was told it was one of the best. I had gone on a Carnival cruise in the past and wanted to compare my experience. The 1st thing you should know is that due to weather we missed 2 of our 4 ports. The last port being cut was a bit of a surprise. We didn't think the water was that bad (we would have taken a boat to shore). Obviously NCL cannot control the weather, but 2 sea days in place of port days is not an equivalent value in my book. The 2 ports we missed were our beach/snorkeling days so we managed to pay for a Caribbean vacation and not set foot on a beach! Extremely disappointed. I had booked a package that included port credits and was not even offered those credits as onboard credits. I understand that cruise lines write contracts to ensure they make money but I think expecting the customer to take all the loss in this case is poor customer service! I would be interested to know how other cruise lines have handled this kind of situation. Booking experience: My husband booked our last cruise 5 years ago, so I don't recall if we were a bit blindsided by tipping fees after booking or not. But bc they wanted tips paid up front when I included drink and meal upgrades I assumed that all tips were included and got an unpleasant surprise. They also didn't tell me that there was a cut-off for informing them of food allergies. I had missed the cut off date bc they want 25 days notice, but since no one mentioned it at booking I stumbled upon this info when I asked about bringing snacks a few days after the deadline. Allergy accommodations: In spite of missing the deadline the staff on board was largely very kind and understanding. I do have to mention that the lack of communication of procedures to me and lack of communication with each other at times was frustrating. No one told me that I had to preorder my meals for the next day, so at my first breakfast the server was a bit curt with me about needing to preorder. I told her that I was unaware of the procedure and her response was "well, I am telling you now." There is also no alternative menu for ppl with allergies. It would have made the ordering process easier if I knew what they were capable of, but in stead they want me to tell them what I want so they can shoot it down until I say something they can accommodate. Before you start thinking the lack of preparation was due to me missing the deadline you should know that I was told there was another GF and dairy-free person on board! Whatsmore they didn't have much on board to assist in this process, i.e. butter and cheese alternative, GF baked goods other than bread. Milk alternative was not listed on the menu. The only dessert offering was lemon sorbet. While I am used to being left out while others enjoy fine dining it is no less frustrating when you consider all the products out there that are readily available now. General Dining: My mom and sister were rarely impressed. We enjoyed Le Bistro, but that is an upgrade. We dined in the Four Seasons or Seven Seas most often bc my mom preferred to be waited on due to mobility issues. There was one occasion that my sister had to send biscuits and gravy back bc it was "disgusting" and several times that they commented that the presentation was promising but the flavor was mediocre. I would not consider either of them picky eaters or accustomed to fine dining, so to underwhelm them is saying something. The service was generally very good. Our Stateroom: I booked for 3. I was told that we would have 2 twin beds and a foldout couch. When we arrived it was a queen and the couch didn't fold out. Apparently they push twins together to make a queen so that was easily corrected. I just don't know why they wouldn't look at my booking and have it prepared. We had to wait quite some time in the chaos of onboarding before it was corrected. Since the couch didn't fold out as I was told we requested an egg crate pad for additional comfort but my sister was still quite uncomfortable. No expected a foldout couch to be stellar but what we got was substandard. We enjoyed the balcony but in spite of the sign that said the balcony was a no smoking area ppl still smoked! There was no enforcement of the rule. So at times the balcony that I paid extra for was unusable. Entertainment: I remember enjoying Carnival's shows more. I am sure it is personal taste or maybe bad luck. For example, the comedian on this trip was good during the "family show" and OK during the adult show. The comedian on Carnival had me laughing till I couldn't breathe! The game shows were ok. Lots of activities required a fee. Karaoke was ok. It was a machine setup vs a live band set up on Carnival, so way more cool to sing with a band and nice to have someone that would jump in for struggling singers. The vibe was just so much more fun on Carnival. Excursions: They need more detail in the descriptions and need to incentivize reviews. We booked level 1 due to my mom's mobility issues. She walks with a cane. The Key West Land and Sea was appropriately leveled 1. But bc we had to walk 3 blocks to get to the bus tour in Nassau (meaning the bus could not pick us up in front of the boat like in the Keys) it was not appropriately leveled so we were underprepared. I am not sure they would have allowed us to take a wheelchair off the boat even if we paid the $150 rental fee, so I don't know if we could have prevented her discomfort. The tours themselves were nice enough. The Fury glass bottom boat in the Keys was a little disappointing in that the boat is set up so you have to stand around the glass bottom instead of sit. Other glass bottom boats I have been on have bench seats facing the viewing area. Again an issue for my mom. The ride was good otherwise, but it must have taken longer than expected since the land tour was not exactly as described. The description mentioned a couple of stops so passengers could get off for a break or to get a pic and that did not happen. Also the seating on the trolley was uncomfortable for me bc I have long legs. Sitting askew for a hour ride with no break was hard! In contrast, once we were past the long walk to the bus in Nassau, the bus ride itself was as described and the seating was better and the bus had AC! We had a few breaks as described also. We were able to visit the fort, queens staircase, Atlantis, and have rum cake! As mentioned previously we missed out on our beach excursion ports so I cannot speak to those. Would I go again? Not likely any time soon. I had hoped for more for my Mom's birthday cruise experience. She had not been one one for over 40 years and she even mentioned enjoying her last one more for reasons unrelated to her age and mobility. It is hard to pay so much for a mediocre experience and knowing the weather could take half your vacation! Read Less

Room was dirty, food was horrible. Stay away from Royal Caribbean, try others, their absolutely horrible. Called customer service, alerted them of our concerns, and only was offered $115 discount on a future cruise with them, I respectfully declined after spending almost $2000 on a 4 day cruise and coming home extremely dissatisfied. Room was dirty upon entering. Our dinner reservation was double booked and we had to wait for another table, what’s the point of a reservation? The whole time they constantly are trying to sell you more stuff on the cruise, it’s like Royal Caribbean just wants to dig in your pocket the whole time your on vacation. Not one thing on the boat tasted fresh, every single thing tasted like it was precooked and warmed up and served. We have been on cheaper cruises and received way better service and food than Royal Caribbean. Never ever again! Read Less

I am a Disney Fan, so I was excited to take my family on the Disney Dream cruise. I had such high expectations and for the most part, all of them were exceeded. The welcoming on the boat, made us feel so special. The shows and performances were like broadway productions. The restaurants, even the main dining experiences were 5 star A few things that I did not like The character schedules were for 15 min spurts and some characters had very few appearances, so with thousands of people on the boat, more often than not, a line was shut down. So we had a significant amount of missed opportunities. Similarly, since there was so much to do, you always had to choose what to do which is a good thing, but when you can't get a later time for things like the character schedule or a particular show, you start to feel like your missing out. Some character views were at 10pm, my children are sleep by then, to avoid tantrums, just something we couldnt take advantage of. I did expect the characters to have meals or appearances in the restaurants - so that was a missed opportunity They changed the port schedule (what days going to castaway ) without proper notification. They have an app that you can use, which was a life saver, but I did not see the change ahead of time. The most epic fail of them all, The Dream put on a fireworks performance, very excited, I love fireworks However they did it off the boat. In the beginning I thought it was a good idea until I saw firey fireworks pieces hurling towards a crowd of people ( I was in the crowd) I was able to dodge one that was coming in at top speed, but there was a second one that landed next to me, I thought it was one me, and it was still on fire. Luckily there was another person there to help put the fire out. Lack of full planning for cruisers safety These are the reasons it got a 3 out of 5 I am willing to give Disney Cruise Line another shot in a few years. But I expected to be wowed at every step of the way. Read Less

We took the cruise to celebrate our 31st Wedding Anniversary on 9-17-19. Though the reviews were sketchy we really had few options with a limited last minute budget. The only good thing to say about my MSC cruise is that we were upgraded to a suite which was nice. The food was nasty and limited in selection, there were continuous options of foreign cuisine that did Not appeal to any of us. There was no decent variations of the food selections at any of the meal times throughout the day. If it weren’t for the burger buffet we would have starved for seven days. The common areas were routinely dirty with slick or sticky floors and tables, the language barriers were often frustrating and made communicating with staff impossible. After pretty much being forced to buy a drink package the cocktails were watered down so basically you pay hundreds of dollars for soda and water which was the only tolerable thing besides canned Miller light beer. The entertainment, if you can call it that, was ridiculous and childlike. We had no viable options for recreational activities except for 2 fuzball tables and 1 small ping pong table. Smokers were crammed in a tiny section with roughly 10 tables right next to the tiny pool. There were limited selections on the dining room menu making us avoid it after day 2. Every port the ship was docked about a mile away and they were short day stops. Shore excursions were ridiculously expensive through MSC and what they offered was very disappointing. In Costa Maya my GoPro was stolen while on an MSC sponsored excursion to Beach Escape beach & reporting this was a big hassle because of the misunderstandings with the language. The cabin steward was pleasant but the beds are uncomfortable and the balcony door rattled the entire cruise from turbulence and rough seas. Many of the staff were decent enough, but the overall atmosphere of the ship as a whole was complete rudeness and disregard. European passengers were Extremely rude most of the time and there was really nowhere on the ship except staying locked in my cabin to avoid it. I wish I could get a refund because this has been a horrible experience and ended up being a lot more expensive than planned with all their “extra” fees for every little thing. Making the experience more disappointing is that there was NO acknowledgement of our 31st Anniversary and the ship photographers couldn’t even take decent pictures of us so we could capture our special day!!! Just dreadful cruise, and horrible ship for Americans in my opinion. Luckily debarkation was quick enough because we couldn’t wait to get off that ship!!! Read Less

First time..2 week cruise for our family of five. My husband and I have already been on 2 Carnival cruises which were fun and decided to book a 2 week cruise for us and our 3 children (first time on a cruise for the kids 18, 16, 14). CONS: - Food was mediocre. Luckily my kids are really easy to please and were content with pizza, burgers, fries and gelato. The buffet was average, normal breads and pastas but I would say lacking in variety. Being on a 2 week cruise is great but the food choices become mundane and repetitive which makes eating less exciting. Lol. Blah and average. Wait staff was attentive, but some were a little less friendly which could be attributed to cultural diversity since they all come from different parts of the world. So I’m definitely understanding in that aspect. - Unfortunately room cleanliness was lacking. I always bring Lysol and Lysol wipes to scrub down my cabin at first walk through. Being a nurse I know the importance of disinfection and would rather have piece of mind from the very beginning. That being said, my bathroom shower stall had mold. Very gross. My room steward was the sweetest person and I hate confrontation. But I brought him in the room to point out the areas of mold in the shower. He told me he would clean it and it was never done (or if he did do it, it wasn’t done well). I went down to guest services and told the staff and they said it would be taken care of with a deep clean. Upon returning to my room, the bathroom smelled like bleach or some kind of cleaner, however the mold still remained. I basically threw my hands up in the air and decided to let it go. I didn’t want a long drawn out battle and wanted to enjoy the rest of my vacation without any drama. Therefore, mold was my cabin mate for 2 weeks. Read Less

We chose this cruise because of the Cuba ports, unfortunately they were cancelled. Our 10 year old child LOVES MSC mini and Juniors club. MSC Orchestra was our first ever cruise in 2014, and we've loved them ever since. We been on Divina and Seaside and now Armonia. The only complaint, well not complaint I had this whole cruise was on Italian Night, there was no "show" if you will, we always look forward to that. But at least they had the baked Alaska cake :) FREE GELATO!! It's was a pleasant surprise to be able to have complimentary gelato!! We partook daily :) And of course the pizza is always the best on MSC Cruise liners, secretly I cruise MSC just for that reason :) I wish the arts and crafts were better, maybe a paper rose making class, or adult coloring books, orgami, etc. Loved the Rum bar and the Pub!! Seemed to be our only hang out spots. Wonderful staff and stewards on this trip. Except for a sassy girl that served us in the Pub, she didn't know what she was doing. Oh well...no one is perfect. Now, this may be a sensitive issue but when did formal nights become so casual? I understand that some people may not like to dress up for that night, but maybe those select few should be directed to the buffet for that evening. I literally seen a man wear a bandana, t-shirt and jean shorts to both formal nights. Not a huge deal but he was always seen in the background of my families photos on formal night. Let's make cruising classy again, MSC!! Read Less

Food was really great, and all the crew was flexible to my wishes. I had a really good time from I landed on the airport in Barca, and got picked up by Costa. I went on one tour, to Monaco. My wife and I have done seven cruises and six of them with NCL. This was such a mixed cruise. One one hand, Alaska was amazing and the ship was great. It was nice, clean and the layout was great. The observation deck was really comfortable and even the Garden Cafe seemed to be upgraded and comfortable. Glacier Bay (which is the primary reason for going) was well organized and the captain slowed the ship down to a crawl and spun the ship around so everyone can have time seeing the glaciers and get their photos at a comfortable pace. It created a very relaxing time in which we gathered in our families state room and spent the time together on the balcony. The reason for the 3 stars was because it felt disorganized and at times poor service and food. For example: Our checked wine took four requests and two trips to the service desk to get, laundry took three requests, Ice sometimes took multiple calls and food timing was way off (I was served beffore my wife several times). The food was probably the most disappointing aspect of the cruise. We are not foodies but I have always considered NCL as having above-average food and occasionally amazing food. This trip I had a couple good meals, many average meals and a couple poor meals (dry chicken, overcooked fish, tiny portions etc). Overall it was a good cruise because of the destination and the company we brought with us. However we may not do NCL, it seems like they lost many of the personal touches that we have had in past cruises. Read Less

I chose this ship simply because it was the only porting out of new Orleans. If i had a chance to pick again. It would've been carnival dream or triumph which is carnival sunrise. The restaurants were basic..the only thing i enjoyed was the pizza. Normally i enjoy all restaurants, but not this go round. The food selection sucked. Oh yeah guys burger was absolutely amazing..including the ice cream was perfect. Customer service was also pretty good. Shows could've been better..ship very small..meaning its not alot to do on sea days besides sleep or casino activities. Maybe a couple raffles here & there. The entertainment was okay for the most part, I've experienced better on other ships. The ship on the 6th day was unbearable because of the rocking of the ship..alot of sea sickness. The biggest upset on my end was the buffet on lido deck. It was awful. Everyone taste bud is different and to each it's own. But i definitely didn't enjoy the food. So that was disappointing because i love trying new thing. Definitely in need of an upgrade. They don't even have "The wok" nor Italian restaurant Read Less

Our family of 3 generations loves to cruise together. This cruise on one of the biggest ships in the world looked like it would be great. First off, if you ever want to see the ocean, book an Oceanview balcony or cabin. The way the ship is designed, few of the bars and /or lounges overlook the ocean. We had two cabins; one an Oceanview veranda, and one a balcony overlooking the Promenade (shops). The way the ship is constructed, most of the inside cabins are sold as balcony, as they overlook "Central Park", the Prominade or the Boardwalk (think Coney Island). Our son and family said they only saw the ocean when they visited our cabin or went up to the Windjammer cafe or the pool. When you are in all the other areas there is no ocean to be seen. Mama Mia was presented in the theatre by a live cast and was fantastic. The water acrobat show was good. There was a Journey tribute band that was the talk of the ship, and not in a good way! Several months after we booked the cruise, about 6 months ago, we were told a propulsion pod was not operating, so the stop in St. Thomas would be cancelled, as the ship had to travel slower with one pod broken. Apparently repairs can't be done until the next scheduled dry dock! St. Thomas was the reason we booked the cruise, so we were disappointed to only have St Kitts, San Juan and Nassau for port stops. (no cancelations based on itinerary changes in the fine print). We were encouraged to use the app. It was never updated correctly. Twice we went to things that had been moved or cancelled with no notice. We bought the wifi package which was so slow our emails could only be accessed in the middle of the night. Once, when we were entering the Solarium cafe, the entrance was blocked by a female supervisor reaming out her staff about something. It made us very uncomfortablel! On other cruises, both Royal and others, the Windjammer buffet is usually open long hours. Not so with the Allure. There is a 24 hr pizza place, but that is about it if you want a snack late at night. The Windjammer closes at 9 pm! I always thought that Royal Caribbean was a little more refined than Carnival, but I guess I was wrong, since Royal now also has Belly Flop contests and Sexiest Man contest. EW... (Is that even Politically correct these days!?) The cruise director was like none other we have ever seen, very unprofessional. Now for the great... the food and service were excellent. Our waiter Marlon and assistant Allan quickly learned our likes and always remembered what we wanted and brought them before we even asked. Our cabin steward Mary Joy was a lovely woman who always checked to see if there was anything she could do for us. Our 5 year old had a blast in "his class", as he called the kids program. We were so happy with the fine people working there. I have tried to be as accurate and informative as possible about our experience on the Allure. Read Less

Princess makes you feel important the entire time your on board. You feel safe and secure knowing that they have your best interests in mind on and off the ship. 5 star service. Huge assortment of food and drink and it’s GOOD food made from someone who cares not from a frozen box. Lobster, great steaks, seafood galore something for everyone guaranteed. Cleanliness is impeccable!! The staterooms were amazing the beds and pillows are straight from heaven you don’t want to leave them in the mornings. You come home rested and feel good, no other accommodation or vacation does that. You feel your money spent on the cruise was a fair trade and and of full value for your experience. I guess the most important vacation for us is knowing your money was well spent. The embarking and disembarking at every stop was smooth and speedy no standing and waiting, ones with children went well and enjoyed all the options available for them on board. Princess covers all the bases, it has the entertainment choices food choices drink choices and they cater to all different age groups and personalities. All the Alaska port of calls were unique and had tons of options for excursions and shopping so everyone had something to do.What’s really special is when the Captain mingles with the passengers throughout the cruise. Great job princess! I always say go Princess or don’t go!!! Thanks again for an amazing cruise... Read Less

It was very obvious that Royal Caribbean has cut costs on a lot of stuff. I am not sure if it was just this ship (should be the best since it was the most expensive) Or if Royal Caribbean just cut costs everywhere. Food quality was not good and was the same almost every night, Cleanliness of staterooms and ship where bad, Not kept up with maintenance, Hallways smelt like mold, Feces on my toilet after asking them three times to clean it from previous people, All the way down to not having towel animals made every day only 3 days of it (this does not cost money should do every day my kids enjoyed it). Staff did not have to work for tips since it is added on to EVERYTHING (even the electronic bar that made our drink) so they did not have to work for the money which definitely showed. There used to be different shows everything with NO reservations. Now there are reservations with the same 3 shows 2 of them being musicals which we do not enjoy we like more circus olay stuff. No seating the first day at breakfast so had to wait with food until someone stood up and we could get their seat. If I hadn't cruised with royal Caribbean before it would have been an okay trip. But VERY disappointed because I knew how good they used to be and it was not that great. Read Less

The ship was very clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful overall. The food in the buffet was usually cold and bland, sometimes inedible. It was incredibly busy up there and difficult to find seating. Other complementary dining was fairly bland as well. The speciality restaurants were much better and if I cruised with NCL again I would only dine there. However, I don’t think that you should be forced to pay extra for a decent meal, the food that is included should be edible as well. The temperature on-board was too warm. Entertainment was very good. Jersey Boys was high quality and the female comedian was excellent. I avoided most of the “activities” on-board because they were just an excuse for staff to try to sell things. I often felt that I was on a week long timeshare info session being bombarded with up selling. Nothing is free on NCL. The spa was the worst and I knew what to expect going in but I was even surprised. I went to a “hair show” where they were supposed to talk about hair health, the best cut for your face shape, etc., and give away a free cut and style to one of the attendees. They jammed 8 of us into a corner and a very rude salon worker came out and said he specialized in hair loss and they scheduled the wrong time for the hair show so he’d be talking about that instead. We were trapped in the corner for 40 minutes as he tried to sell his special $3600 hat to us. None of us struggled with hair loss. He said he would give us a free consultation but told us repeatedly not to waste his time. He was rude to one 17 year old girl who seemed disinterested during his lengthy presentation and asked her to repeat what he had said and clapped in front of her face. I was so mad when we were finished because he wasted 40 minutes of my time. I felt that I couldn’t leave because I was physically squished into the corner and because I find confrontation uncomfortable. Also, there was no giveaway for the cut and style and I wanted to see a hair show. It was a complete scam. I complained to the manager on the phone afterward and she said there was confusion about scheduling. I explained that the employee was aware that wasn’t what we were there for but he went on with his high pressure sales pitch anyway. She said she could offer me a consultation for my hair but after that experience and having now complained I was not comfortable going back. Also, someone who went to the session was entitled to a free cut and no one got one. I wouldn’t have even cared if I didn’t get it, but if you promise something like that you should follow through. Other activities like bingo were extremely overpriced for the amount of prizes given away. One package was $60 and the bingo jackpot was just over $100. That’s outrageous. You have at least 200 people buying tickets between $30 and $60, that’s a minimum of $6000-$12000 and your total prizes are $600? Not to mention that the cruise staff took forever calling the numbers so that they could sell you more stuff in between. It was painful, not fun. The atrium being where most activities were held seemed like a poor design to me. There wasn’t enough seating there and it was very loud. Again, most of the “activities” were cheesy or a way to sell stuff, but even if it was something I was interested in I would avoid it because the space was uncomfortable. Also, the service counter and other desks were in the same area and it was impossible to hear them when you needed help. Overall the cruise was good. The new ship was still in very good condition which was a huge plus and it seemed clean and well maintained. I just wish that I didn’t feel like I was being nickelled and dimed every step of the way. I knew that about NCL going in but I was worse than I anticipated. Read Less

We were big Carnival fans but then they got greedy and service and quality went down to the basement. But we came back last year and things had improved-not much but somewhat On the Pride the service was excellent everywhere we went. Our cabin steward Yasa was fantastic. we had cruised with him before on Carnival. He exceeded all expectations of service and being just a great guy. We usually have issues in the formal dining. I mean some bad slow service but this time on the Pride- HayDee and her team of Roland and Rexter were outstanding. They were terrific people. My wife cried on the last service saying goodbye-Yeah I got a little choked up too. Due to weather the production shows were modified but still good. I hope Carnival keeps them as they are fun and entertaining. Some other cruise lines have changed things up and we don't care for their entertainment Cruise direct Dr. E worked hard to keep the crown engaged. He was fun. We are senior citizens but like fun times and Carnival most of the time provides that. But we expect excellent service and decent food. Carnival keeps trickling UP their drink prices and gratuity while limiting choices like a "bar" brandy and 18% tag on for drinks. They are greedy. Parents- either leave your kids at home OR watch them- IT is NOT their ship to run all over screaming and hollering. All in all- a good time was had. Read Less

First time on mega ship, and came away very happy. A lot of people, but somehow we hardly encountered any long lines. Lots to do on a ship this size, so we kept busy. Our only issues would be that a few (very few) employees did not put on a happy face. It's as if they do not want to be there, but you can encounter that anywhere you go. My biggest complaint is the they have 12 elevators on each floor, and with that many people, why are not all of them operating at the same time? It appeared that only 6 were working at all times. But if that is my only beef, seems trivial. Foul weather made up most of our 7 days at sea, but you cannot fault Allure for that. Also, kudos to the Captain and Crew for their parking job in Nassau. Quite a feat with the wind and all. Cabin was a bit small, but comfortable. Specialty dining was pretty good, with 150 Central Park being by far our favorite, as we tried 4 of the restaurants. All in all, I would suggest this ship, just be careful of doing so in September. Read Less

We had never done a cruise to Alaska before and this one seemed to fit the bill for our needs. As we had been to Seattle before, we elected to arrive and sail in the same day. We had a party of 4 so we ubered fro the airport to the harbor but the NCL staff were all over the terminal to help those who took the NCL transfer. We arrived at the cruise ship terminal about 30 minutes later and walked about 10 steps to the baggage drop off. Very smooth and efficient. We were in the Haven for this cruise, so we then proceeded to the Haven checkin desk and within 10 minutes we were on the ship and in the Haven Bar for a drink. Our rooms were then ready so we went to the rooms and dropped our carryons. We then ate lunch in the Haven restaurant and explored the ship before sailing. The rooms were outstanding and our butler and stewards knew our names by 1700! We wondered the ship and then watched sail away from the Horizon lounge on 17 forward reserved for Haven guests only. We spent a lot of time here. They had coffee and snacks all day long and continental breakfast stuff early in the AM. My only comment here is the drink service was slow and spotty but we walked 50 meters/150 feet aft to the Haven bar for drinks if we couldn’t wait. Awesome ship, super clean and fresh, outstanding staff and awesome service. The dining in all areas was impeccable with the one caveat that bars are slow to make drinks, the restaurants are slow to fill water and get you alcoholic beverages. Slow but impeccable drink service. I would say the restaurants need more drink runners and busboys to keep the servers free to serve. We did not have a bad dish or meal. This crew has it down. The shows were really good and interesting with talented performers and decide to show topics/material. As Haven guests you are escorted to private reserved seating in a private elevator so no crowds. Same for excursions and leaving the ship. The shore excursions were really good, well priced for value and well run. We are definitely going again on another NCL cruise and have 2 future ones booked. Read Less

On board: the room, balcony, was adequate; food also adequate, however, if pastry is your thing you will not find a decent croissant on Princess; flour to fat ratio all wrong. The room attendant was very friendly and helpful. In fact the entire staff was very well trained, helpful and friendly, with the exclusion of one surly female at the spa reception desk. On board lectures limited. Entertainment was enjoyable. Cruise entertainment director energetic, personable, funny and enthusiastic. Ports of Call: time spent in each port was sufficient. However, the ports of call were all geared towards retail sales with tee shirt shops and jewelry stores three to a block. Excursions offered were what one would expect. We choose a rafting trip. However, the waterproof gear given to us was wet and dirty on the INSIDE, even the boots were wet with sand and pebbles inside Not a pleasant experience. This was our second Princess cruise and probably our last. Not because of one bad excursion experience, rather a culmination of the entire Princess Cruise experience. Read Less
