Giving one star because there is no option of a ZERO star Enormous ship – Immensely disgusting and disappointing. There is nothing to do on this CL. I paid a lot of money for just sleeping and when I was not sleeping, I was stuck in crowds either for a meal or at the elevator. Bad performances, horrible food, disgusting pools. They can take 7000 people on their cruise, but theydont even have 4000 pool side beds. So if you don’t get there early enough, the entire fam can sit on one bed. Splash pad: Freezing cold water on a very small splash pad Water slides – First of all, water slides would not open till 12 and surfing would be open from 2pm to 6 pm – again let me remind you there are SEVEN THOUSAND guests on this ship. Even if 2% of them are interested in surfing – you can well imagine the long line up because they have only 1 boogie surf and 1 other surf. This resulted in massive line ups. Whenever the ship was docked – all the water slides were shut down till the ship started sailing again. They WANT you to get off the ship and be stalked by the vendors outside. We wanted to go checkout the islands and we did that. Our idea was to come back an hour before sail time to be able to get on some slides when the line ups are not insane. Flow rider with the boogie board or surfing had atleast 1.5 hour long line up at all times. Pools: Pools were small and cold. And you know what happens when you have 3 or 4 pools being used by 7000+ people. Not saying all 7000 people jumped in the pool at the same time. But they were FULL and crowded. You could see the water turning pale. Hot Tubs: I was so happy when my 6 year old said that he doesn’t want to get in the pool because the water was too cold. Didn’t want him in that filth. But what he wanted was even worse – the hot tubs. If you find pools to be crowded, wait till you visit the hot tubs. Kids all along the sides and in the middle – the bubbles were turning brown due to so many bodies in the hot water. Wind Jammer: They need to re-name this one to People Jammer. It’s a buffet where they serve plastic food in an immensely crowded area. I circled around the hall a few times looking for a vacant table – its hard to find. Food quality is way below average. Impossible to locate bowls and spoons. Plastic plates and forks & knives were in abundance. Stale food and bad food items – mostly junk is on the menu. They have salad bar too, but all canned food. Solarium: Not as much variety, but it was much quiet. You have to line up at the entrance to enter solarium. Wait times could range from 5 minutes to 45 minutes. But once inside, its peacefull. Very few items on the buffet – mostly non-appetizing food and again salads are all coming from cans. I did not dare try any meat anywhere – didn’t want to get sick. Main Dining Hall: Its ala carte, and you have to reserve in advance if you are interested in eating some horribly cooked dishes. Menu doesn’t change at all. Kids club: Extremely rude staff. They just could not care less about the kids. They don’t have a single activity outside that dingy room, But I preferred my kid to be at the kids club then be at one of the germ-infested pools or hot tubs. He did make a few friends there. Excursions: We spent 10 hours door to door for an excursion that was only 1.5 hour long. 3 hours were spent just waiting at the island because the tour operator forcefully wanted us to shop there. Snorkeling trip through RC was so poorly managed and the way they transported us felt like we were being smuggled through islands. Night time shows: Utter disappointment – drag and drag. What could’ve been finished in 5 minutes was dragged for an entire hour. Torture to sit through. 1977 was senseless with actors shouting and screaming in the name of singing. Merely thinking of that show gives me a headache. Read Less

I will not suggest to my worst enemy to go on the MSC MUSICA AGAIN the cruise was over booked since we got on the ship we did not have anyplace to sit , never mind the package that i took they said there will be a welcoming letter from the Captain - just a note from management i wanted to take all my grand children next year but i will rather stay at home some of the people on the cruise stayed in there cabin due to the overcrowding if you wanted to get a drink at the bar it took you half to and hour, i can be glad that idid not take any children, the super sokkie we paid was a waste of money we could notsee any of the artist and i had to sit on a lamp pole, we could not even see the activities on the cruise we had to stand 95% of our time the only time we could sit was at dinner or lunch This cruise was for my husband birthday and he hated every minute of it the photos costed a lot of many sure all the photos they destroy could have been givenat a special price on the last day of the cruice Read Less

I went for the Afrikaans Sokkie and it was my birthday. MSC Musica. I did state when I made a booking that it was my birthday. When I did my first cruise 17 years ago also on my birthday, I was supprised with a birthday cake! Now they charge you for it. There was always photographers taking ransom photos during your cruise, now you have to go to them and it is all unnatural studio photos at USD12 per photo!! Previously You bought a beverage package for the duration of your cruise which included all coldrinks, coffee, tea, ice-cream etc, now you can buy a package that has a maximum of 18 drinks, whether it is alcohol or not for R850 depending on the exchabge rate. And they do not tell you beforehand that it is limited to a specific amount (usd) per drink!! Everything has become so commercialized and greedy, that it does not seem to be worth the almost R5000 per day that you spent. Read Less

We are retired and have never been to Cuba before. We thought this would be the perfect cruise for us. We couldn’t have been more wrong. Our first impression was great disappointment. The pool was netted and the water was green. The hot tubs were netted and empty. This was to be the theme of our experience as there so many time things were out of order or closed for maintenance. The soft serve machine was down, three of the seven treadmills were inoperable and the gym was insufficient for the number of guests wanting to use it. We resorted to walking on the walking deck, which was also closed for maintenance in some areas. This ship just came out of dry dock and it was evident. The Windjammer and bars were lacking in supplies that had not been restocked in time for the cruise, but we’re eventually restocked by day five. The shore excursions left a lot to be desired as one was canceled just days before we boarded the ship. Actually after experiencing one of RCL tours with this cruise, we were blessed that it was canceled. We booked a tour for a night in Cuba with RCL and it was so bad, the majoryof people walked out. The music was amateurish at best. We paid $109 per person to walk to a local restaurant and get two drinks and an appetizer that consisted of sliced cold cuts, cheese, grated carrots, and lettuce. We walked across the courtyard to another restaurant had two drinks, an appetizer and tipped our server and the cost of that was about $35 total ( not per person). What a huge mark up for profit, especially when you can get a Lobster dinner in town between $12-15 per person. If anything we’ve reminded ourselves of why de shouldn’t book tours with the cruise line and continue booking thru Airbnb. Our tours in Cienfuegos and Havana that we booked thru them were simply amazing and so much more affordable. We had a three hour walking tour with a small group of five and the cost to us was $45. Our guide even bought us gelato and mojitos as we toured. We had breakfast in Chops and they were slow and didn’t listen to what I requested. I asked for an omelet with mushroom, bell peppers and cilantro and I got an oil covered omelet with tomatoes, onions, and spinach. I ended up not eating it. As we waited we observed ceiling that were missing, paint that was peeled or incomplete. The size of the ship was nice, however, as we didn’t feel overwhelmed by the number of passengers on the ship and there were plenty of areas to go for a quiet retreat if we needed it. With all that being said, I would probably sail again on this ship, but would wait a year so that all the issues could be resolved. I certainly WOULD NOT book another shore excursion thru the cruise line. Airbnb experiences had won my loyalty and business for shore excursions. Read Less

Getting into and through security was the easy part, everything after that was horrible food was cold, pool area was crowded, they never cleaned our cabin but wanted to charge a service fee per person $116 for four days. All activities and shows were always booked no matter what time of day. We only went to one island given we were to stop at 2 in total. Being on the water for 3 days out of our 4 day cruise was crap. The only thing good was being able to sleep. Getting off the ship disembarkation omg was horrible we woke up at 6 to be off at least by 730am we got delayed because of customs and waited in line for over 3 hours to get off the ship. No staff was available to help with line situations people were arguing the whole time. This was my first cruise and by far the worst experience ever. I will never book another cruise at least through Norwegian. Just horrible. Read Less

We choose this cruise as our family vacation for the year. We enjoy beach type vacations and have enjoyed cruises in the past. We choose the Epic because it looked like it had a lot to offer our whole family. Unfortunately, we could not have been more wrong. The ship was severally under staffed. Everything had massive time consuming lines. For example, the boat offered 3 water slides, but they typically only ran 2 at a time because they didn't have enough staff to run them all at the same time. We only saw the rock wall open twice and both times it had huge lines. The climbing tower and trampoline never opened. The 2 small pools were extremely overcrowded. The sprinkler system that was supposed to offer splash pad type of setting was broken. They only had about 15 tubes out for the tube slide, which resulted in another huge line. I watched a teenager pass out waiting for a tube. The cruise medics took more than 30 minutes to respond. This was the 3rd time that I have been on a Norwegian cruise, and the 3rd time that I was disappointingly informed that the sea was too rough to get on the tender boats. It was a beautiful day with very calm waters considering we were on an ocean. This resulted in an overcrowded boat with a insufficient staff and amenities. The staff did not seem too shocked as a few informed me that during the last 5 months, they only made it to the island 3 times. The cruise directer responded by offering a few additional activities, most of which required additional fees. The boat was also under construction and we were not informed that the massive rock wall would be unavailable for our cruise. The drinks seemed to be watered down. I weigh under 140 pounds and did not catch even the slightest buzz after drinking 20 mixed drinks (Miami Vices, BBCs, Mango Melt Downs). I am a lightweight when it comes to drinks and I did not feel any effects from these beverages. Boat departure took 3 hours, seriously 3 hours. We missed our shuttle to the airport and nearly missed flights. Once again the cruise director managed to find a place to let the blame fall; she went with port authorities this time. Although my friends managed to get off much quicker due to dumb luck and had no trouble with port authorities or customs. By the third day much of the boat smelled of septic. The other attractions such as Escape the Big Top and the Circus De Sol la booked very quickly and were nearly impossible to get into. The comedian on board made fun of guests to obtain pity laughs rather than relying on wit and originality. Much of the food on the buffet was cold and repetitive. They encourage hand washing, yet many of their bathroom sinks and soap dispensers would not work. I am very upset that our family wasted our vacation time and money on this horrible experience. Have been cruising for over 25 years and love it. NCL's Epic was the most horrible cruise we have ever been on. Waitingfor 40 minutes to get seated at the Teppanyaki restaurant with a reservation. Waited another 30 minutes till waiter takes drink order. Waited another 30 minutes till cook showes up. But that time I had gone to another restaurant and gotten food cause I was ready to faint from hunger. When I got back my boyfriend still hadnt seen a waiter. 45 minute wait at Sheenans to get a table. Waiter did not show up. Citwue de dream show. Table right away but no waiter for 30 minutes. Drinks at bar impossible to get. I am 62 years old and not into pushing. So no bartender would notice me asking for a drink. Last day leaving tg3e ship was a disaster. People pushing in the hallways. 4100 guests were told to leave tge cabin by 8am but were not aloud to get of board. For 3 hours we were pushed in the hallways when tgey announced the gate was changed to deck 5 where tge only way was to use gge escalator. Men were arguing throwing chairs babies crying. After 2 hours we finally saw some staff handing out water yo exhausted guests. We left our room at 7.30am and got of the ship at 10.28am. How do the do it when there is a fire? These were horrible conditions. Horrible Read Less

Would not recommend the Sun Princess!, would not travel on this ship again!, it’s a floating rust bucket!. The ship is way too old to be in service, it may have been refurbished but there is rust everywhere and it is not a modern ship, it’s very dated. The crew even were hammering loudly the rust off the ship during the midday pool deck movie until passengers complained to get the crew to stop. I have never been on a ship where the crew did so much constant maintenance on a ship during the cruise. The toilets didn’t work and the ship smelt like the toilets had overflowed all the time!. It’s not a family friendly ship, if your are after water slides, there isn’t any. The ship needs to be scraped. The rooms are small, not enough laundries on board (for the number of passengers on board) and not enough washing machines or dryers for the numbers of passengers on board. Try to wash during port days (when most passengers are onshore on tours). The food was very poor. There was no variety in the food from the Horizen Court Buffett. Unless you like eating meat and three veg for lunch and dinner (it was like a cheap RSL meal), after 18 days of meat and three veg (I don’t want to see another plate of lumpy mash potato for at least the next 12 months!). Always the same dishes served, day after day after day!. The grill over the pool deck was hit and miss but this really only served pies, chips and burgers. The crew never cooked the vegetables enough, they were always hard. The buffet had a lot of creamy, sugary cakes. They had good cookies. $18 for a cocktail was a rip off!, get mocktails as part of the Soda package, if you want to save money. If you want a “behind the scenes” tour of the ship, that will cost you $175, free on other ships. The main restaurant was ok, but the portions are very small, if you are a big eater, a visit to the buffet after dinner in the Regency restaurant will be required unless you want to go to bed still hungry. Left the main restaurant after dinner hungry a number of times as the meal portions in the Regency restaurant are small. Not all the meals were that great at the restaurant (the pavlova was hard). Played bingo onboard but to buy the cards, it cost a lot of money, $30 for a card with 5 games and you paid extra to get the pet to cross out the numbers. The staff were friendly but their service was not impressive. There aren’t even any towel animals left on your bed each night. None of the staff onboard went the extra mile to make your time on the Sun Princess feel special. If your request was not within their narrow job description, they just directed you to someone else to possibly see if your request is even possible. If you have a specific request or enquiry, try to find someone who deals with your type of request if you want an answer (good luck with that!). The food and beverage staff service were very slow, with the exception of bar tenders on the pool deck. The only other impressive staff were in the Steakhouse restaurant, who fussed over you to make your experience in the Steakhouse restaurant special. The shows were ordinary. After 18 days the Princess dancers only did two really good shows (each show went for 30 minutes) but the princess theatre is small and the 7.30 pm show is the most popular (get the show at least 30 minutes before the show starts if you want a seat). There were a couple of other good performers but most shows were really bad and boring!. If your after the types of shows you’ll get on US cruise ships, you will be very disappointed, Australian cruise ships are the poor cousin to US ships when it comes to the shows. A lot of the performances had singers who constantly sang the same songs from the 50’s and 60’s (three seperate performances from 3 different singers all singing the same Beatles, Roy Orbison and elves songs was too much!) Princess really is a “nickel and dime” ship. They make you pay for everything. The Sanctuary is at the back of the ship, you pay $20 for 4 hours and there is no shade from the sun (it was really hot, I stayed for less than an hour) we were lucky there was hardly any kids onboard because unless you pay you have to rest in your cabin to get away from the crowds on sea days. If you wanted a lounge chair on the pool deck you had to reserve one super early otherwise you have to lay down in the sun. The ports were good and tours and transfers to and from the ship were ok. I recommend you give the Sun Princess a miss, it needs vast improvement in ship, food, service, amenities before you should consider this ship for a holiday! Read Less

This cruise was chosen because of all of the items on the ship for us to do with our kids. By the 3rd day, I woke up with three bites on my neck. The 4th day, I had numerous more. I went to their medical floor and expressed my fears that there may be bed bugs in my room. They reassured me they did not look like bed bug bites. I asked what it could be and he expressed they looked like German measles. I explained I'm vaccinated and have had my titers so this wasn't possible. I asked what I should do now? He handed me 2 Hydrocortisone packets and told me to continue my night. I was appalled! I'm a nurse and sending someone they think could have a very contagious disease to the rest of the public should be forbidden! I'm sure it's because they knew it was bed bug bites. They said they were sure they weren't bed bug bites but would have someone come check the room. Nobody came to my room. I called guest services and they sent someone up to tell me they would do a thorough check when we went for dinner. We got back from dinner to see the beds were remade and there was a white powder placed behind the bed. I had to call guest services to see what they found. The lady said the search was completely negative. I asked what the white powder was and she said she was sending the supervisor up. When he got there, he explained the white powder was protocol but the search came up 100% negative. He said there was even a bug specialist in our room and said no traces of bed bugs were found. I took these pictures after their thorough search of my room. Disgusting!!! Bugs in the mattress!!!! That was our last night there. After calling Royal Caribbean the day after we got back, they asked for me to submit the pictures. After reviewing the pictures, they apologized for this occurring on their ship and offered me a 10% discount on a future cruise purchase. I can't even explain the nightmare this has caused. All of our luggage is in garbage bags outside our house to prevent any chance of bringing them inside our home. This cruise turned into a nightmare. -Our dining was exceptional. There was a great variety of food choices. Our server was fabulous. -This cruise had 2 Bahamas stops, Nassau and CoCo Cay. Both were great. -We let our 2 boys choose our shore excursions. The first was the Rainbow Reef snorkel in Nassau. It was our boys (age 8 and 10) first time snorkeling. The staff were great and we loved it -In CoCo Cay, they chose two excursions, swimming with the pigs and the stingray experience. The staff made them memorable and we suggest both of them. -Upon docking, our last shore excursion was The Everglades by airboat. We loved it! -We had a fabulous view from our balcony. We had a balcony on the back of the ship with magnificent views -In all of our travels, we have never experienced bed bugs before. I don't wish it upon anyone. The way Royal Caribbean lied and pretended to search our room is unacceptable. Read Less
