We chose this cruise because frankly, we live by Cruise Port Boston, love Bermuda and spent our honeymoon on the Norwegian Gem on its transatlantic portion of its maiden voyage back in 2007 and wanted to see whether the cruise ship really was as awesome as we remembered. It was, and then some. The embarkation and disembarkation went smoothly. Sure, twelve years has taken its toll on the ship, but it wasn't that visible. The Dale Chihuly Glass Sculpture in the Atrium of the Gem still wows. The service was great. Our balcony stateroom was consistently kept immaculately clean. The food in the buffet was so delicious it kept us coming back for more. The variety in the buffet, with its different themes each night, was terrific. Even the free coffee was delicious. The staff showed pride in their work, and the attention to detail showed. We attended four major shows in the Stardust Theater, Swing, Blazing Boots, the Chernov Brothers - Circus Dance Show and Get Down Tonight which we very much enjoyed. We were able to walk to Snorkel Park Beach in Bermuda three days in a row and took the free ferry to St. George. We traveled with our nine year old son who is on the autism spectrum, and he had a great time. We went last year on the Norwegian Dawn (August 2018) and will go again on August 21, 2020. Read Less

This is our 4th Viking River Cruise, and we chose this itinerary because although we had visited much of Europe, we had never been to these cities. I was quite concerned before the trip regarding the water level on the Danube due to problems last year, but there were no issues. We came to Budapest a couple of days early and did some touring on our own, including a fun up close and personal Tuk Tuk tour. The embarkation went smoothly and we had a nice but small balcony cabin. All of the staff were excellent, from our waiters to our steward and we went on many of the excursions, as we recognized we are unlikely to come this way again. The food was fine and entertainment minimal other than a Mozart and Strauss concert excursion in Vienna and a folklore dinner in Prague. The captain was everywhere saying hello to all the guests which I haven't seen on a cruise before. The highlight for all of us (we were traveling with son and dil) was the Prague extension which was far more interesting than we expected. The architecture is outstanding and the tours were interesting. My dil developed a toothache, and the host in Prague at our hotel actually arranged for an emergency dental appointment near the hotel and accompanied her to see the dentist helping to translate. We were very grateful for this service. I have absolutely no criticisms of this trip. However, without the Prague extension, I would have given it 4 circles as it wasn't as exciting as prior Viking trips which I attribute to the nature of these cities rather than any faults on Viking's part. Everything was great from getting on to the ship at embarkation day it was fast, it took at least 10 minutes to go through everything. As soon as we got on the ship, our rooms was ready to go so we went to lunch food was super yummy. Then the fun began as soon as we started to sail away. We saw beautiful places all over the British Isles it was so much history and culture learning about people from the past. We loved the dining room team was super friendly they knew us so well, from every detail. We really enjoyed the Canadian beaches tour when we got to Normandy, France it was very emotional but also gave a lot of pride and great for a group of Canadians. The Crown Princess is big ship as well easy to navigate around, I love watching Movies under the stars its super relaxing and peaceful with some chills. Read Less

We boarded the Island Princess in Vancouver. The Vancouver port is beautiful, but the embarkation process is spread out throughout the terminal. You went from one end to another end and back which didn't seem very efficient. It was very organized just not efficient. In my opinion, the ship itself was the perfect size for an Alaska cruise, small and intimate. We had an aft balcony suite and I can't say enough about how wonderful it was. We could sit on the balcony comfortably most of the time, because the wind was blocked. Even in Glacier Bay we did not need heavy coats to enjoy the balcony. We had Club Class anytime dining. The food was very good in the dining room and our wait staff were excellent. The buffet was ok, but it was hard finding a table and the variety was limited. The pizza on board was very good, great crust! We ate at the Bayou Cafe but not at Sabatini's. The Bayou food was good. I felt the entertainment could be improved upon. I wish there was a production show every night and that the comedy shows had there own theater. There could have been more activities during the day also, but you come to Alaska to see the sights, not for the ship activities. Our service throughout the ship was great. Everyone was attentive and helpful. Our room steward was wonderful. Our excursions were whale watching in Icy Strait Point, dog sled camp in Juneau, and White Pass Train in Skagway. They were all booked through Princess and were all great. Each of them was only part of the day, so we had plenty of time to walk around the ports also. I have to say my favorite was probably the dog sled camp. It was informative and lots of fun. Disembarkation was a breeze! It was so organized and smooth. Kudos to Princess for making it so stress free, especially when you don't want to leave! Read Less

All i can say is wow. Carnival went above and beyond to satisfy all guests on board. The food was amazing and the staff always went out of their way to help with any needs. We stayed in a balcony cabin, which was clean, spacious and had everything you would need. The entertainment was endless and had something for both me and my husband to enjoy. Bonsai sushi and Steakhouse a must visit and guys burger joint is literally the best burger i have ever had! Some areas were a little tired but that didnt take away from the amazing holiday we had. This was my first time with Carnival and i wasn't sure if it would be loud and too much going on, but they really do cater for everyone. If you wanted to party you could but if you wanted a relaxing quiet night you could do that too. Was very glad to learn about legend coming to Europe, will certainly be booking my family on board! Exceptional value, full of excitement, entertainment on board, descent food and helpful people. Unlike other cruises, the cruise to Alaska is an adventure with on board resources to constantly keep you informed of where you are, the wildlife around you at any given time, Northenr lights and the history of the area. I am still pumped a week after the trip and at all the wonderful experinces we had as a family. Carnival toolk great care of us, we slept well and ate good the entire time. The ports are amazing and do not require you going too far off the ship in order to find places to see, sights and shopping. If a balcony room is in your budget and you are thinking about it, IT IS A MUST! WOW ! Carnival employees are exceptional and will take care of you. I really had not intention of eating in the dining room every single night on the ship, but the crew assigned to our table kept us coming back with their smiles, shenanigans and respect they showed us. It was like being with family. Hope you get a chance to see Alaska someday, amazing place ! Read Less

Loved the ship. The layout was not as open as some ships I have been on but there were tons of drinking and dining options to enjoy. The top deck and outside areas were not used much due to weather on this particular cruise. Having said that a balcony room is a great plus on this cruise as the Baltic is small and you will get to see lots of things out your window on a daily basis especially getting in and out of the ports. I was amazed at the number of cruise ships in the Baltic (there were 8 other ships in port in St. Petersburg). The destinations were great with the exception of Germany. The Berlin for a day trip was very expensive and really not very enjoyable. 3 hours each way on an a non-air conditioned train with 6+ hours on a bus in between. We were very rushed. Little opportunity to get off and take pictures. It was also a brutal heat wave while we were there (close to 100 degrees F). The centerpiece destinations on this cruise are St. Petersburg and Stockholm as they are both incredibly beautiful sightseeing opportunities. You will not be able to take pictures fast enough in the palaces and churches in St. Petersburg. I would also recommend arriving into Copenhagen Denmark a few days early and explore that beautiful little country. Tivoli Gardens, all the castles and fortresses scattered in and around the city are very impressive. The dining in general was very good. We really enjoyed the food in the main dining room and the buffet was well appointed. What wasn't worth the cost, was the upgraded dining package. The Brazilian steakhouse was excellent and we enjoyed it the first night and the Cirque dinner show was excellent bu the food was a set menu from the main dining room. Ocean Blue and Cagney's were big disappointments. They ran out of lobster 2/3 way through the cruise so our "upgrade" meal at ocean blue was fish or shrimp similar to what was on offer at the main dining room. We dined at Cagney's our last night and the steaks were tough with very little flavor. Got better cuts of meat at the main dining room in the evening. My family that I was traveling with had gone Norwegian last year and raved about the upgraded food only to be let down this year. The on board entertainment was decent. This really isn't a big factor in cruising for me to begin with. We enjoyed the upgraded cirque show and a dance show called Burning the Floor. We enjoyed a night at the dueling piano bar and a night with an 80's cover band. To be honest many of the excursions were so long and required so much walking that we went to bed early many evenings as our departure times for excursions were also very early (between 7 and 8 am). Not complaining about this but we needed our rest. Read Less

Free, high-quality food (except bar drinks, obviously) there were 4 restaurants on this ship. One is a buffet open only for breakfast with a wide variety of options. (Again, entry is free!) There is a grill, pizza place, and a salad bar open after breakfast and multiple soda fountains on Deck 11. The other 3 restaurants are open only for dinner except on the last day, and during dinner, you have the same (fun) waiters assigned to you and ready to serve. The menu has a lot of options and it's all free. Dinner consists of an appetizer, main course, and dessert. Now the rooms are kind of narrow but like dinner, the same person does your room and they are fun! In the morning the set it up so that it is spacious and at night the couches are turned into beds, and in my room with three kids, there are panels in the ceiling that become beds and the room service person makes animals out of the towels and usually gives you chocolate. Also, the shows are beautiful and on this ship, they invited Charles Peachock, winner of America's Got Talent to do his tricks. Also, note that it is hard to get lost on this ship for its massive size and it has a lot of age-fenced clubs for your kids to hang out. Also, the ship stopped at a pretty, disney-owned, private island. TL;DR -Ship: Really big, I compared ships at the port -Cabin: Really nice interior, a little small but actually very livable -Dining: food is great, waiters are fun, especially for children -Entertainment and Activities: Shows are REALLY good and have age-fenced clubs, and the ship stopped at a private, pretty island -Service: dinner waiters are assigned to you and are fun. Room service is great, and animals are made from towels. -Ports and Shore excursions: fast and that's partly because of the multiple gangplanks This is our second time and we're planning a third!! This was a great trip for all and you should join us! Read Less

All the employees did whatever they could to make you comfortable and happy. Our steward, Tri , was excellent, and our waiter, Nick, and his team were just wonderful. We never encountered any long lines, and both getting on and off went very smoothly. Guy’s Burgers, and the Blue Iguana were so yummy! And the Seafood Shack had excellent food for just a few dollars. All the bar people were so helpful, never had to wait for more than a couple of minutes- they were all so efficient! We had a small suite for 3 people, and with the extra big balcony, it was positively roomy, with so much storage. I know Victory won’t be around much longer, but I am so glad we took this lovely short, 4 day cruise. Read Less

Sailing out of Miami we did the Little Havana Food tour and had a great time. When we were leaving for this trip, Dorian was just a little puff. How all that changed. Overall we had a very nice cruise. In Key West and Nassau we walked around on our own. In Freeport we did the glass bottom boat tour and it was very nice and saw lots of sharks. I was talking to our bus driver and another tour lady and it looked like Dorian may go north of them at that time but that’s not how it turned out. I hope all is ok with them. I think we were the last ship out of Freeport. Everything was great with the cruise but we had to skip the private island because of Dorian. Although we were looking forward to our cabana, it was a small price to pay for what the islanders had to deal with. The really surprising thing was how quiet people were when the captain was providing storm updates. They did a nice job with letting everyone know what was happening with the info they had. Great job NCL. Just booked Greek Isles for 2020 and will probably get a couple others in before then. Kudos on helping out the people there with the Breakaway and best wishes for a speedy recovery. The entertainment was good, especially Eileen, the black female singer; the Once Upon A Time show; and the murder mystery dinner in Giovanni’s. We found the timing of some shows inconvenient e.g. ice shows are at 5 or 7pm, which is impossible when you have a 6pm dining time. Bingo was fun and much easier now they have electronic tablets instead of paper sheets. Trivia really depended on who was running it - some staff were hard to understand with heavy accents, or went too fast. Others, like Bern running the 80s music trivia on the last night, were amazing. Best food in the main dining room was the Vidalia onion tart, beef tenderloin and rack of lamb, and molten chocolate cake and apple pie. The Tutti salad bar at lunchtime in the main dining room on sea days is really good and a hidden gem. Each day in Windjammer and the cafe, they have a different flavor of pound cake. The caramel toffee bread pudding in Windjammer on day 5 was amazing. Cruise tips. Bring two swimsuits because the first one will not be dry enough overnight to wear again the next day, and putting on wet swimwear feels gross. A highlighter is very useful for marking items of interest in the Compass. So is a travel mug, to allow you to carry coffee around the ship. My white noise machine was invaluable to block out Promenade and hallway noise. Save your trivia answer sheets all week, as they get you extra boards in Bingo. Only a few negatives: 1) Most of the excursions we had booked before the trip were canceled, and one of those cancelations was not communicated, resulting in an unnecessary early wake-up. They canceled the butterfly garden trip in Aruba, the mangrove EcoBoat in Bonaire, the afternoon Segway in Bonaire, and the Adventure Race in St. Maarten. Although in each case we were offered a discount on an alternative activity and ended up having fun, it was still frustrating to get very few of our first choice activities. 2) The early 8am meeting time for many excursions made you not want to stay out late and party or drink much the night before. 3) My only bad food was the duck a l’orange in the main dining room on day 2 or 3; there was barely any meat and it was very fatty. 4) My teenager disliked that very few of the scheduled teen activities happened as planned. The teen staff did not seem interested in enforcing the schedule and just let the teens do whatever they wanted. All in all, we had a fantastic trip. The weather was glorious, the seas were calm, all 4 ports were very interesting to visit, our tour guides were all exceptional, service on board was overwhelmingly good, food options were delicious and varied, and there was plenty to do for all ages. If you go on this trip, you will have a blast! Read Less

Wife and I travelled with her parents, my son 18 and my mother. Everyone had a great time and I thought I would share my thoughts with you. We cruised on the Equinox in April and found this ship and experience to be nearly identical to that one. This was a 7-day round trip Alaska cruise out of Vancouver. EMBARKATION - For the first time ever we spent time in town prior to the cruise and boarded on the latter end of the time window - just after 2:00. The luggage drop off, check-in and other areas felt like a ghost town. It was truly eerie, making us wonder if we were in the right place even though we went through here two years ago. There were zero waits except at customs where we waited 2-3 minutes. Other than this it was walk up, take care of business, walk to the next place. The entire process took about 20 minutes, with most of that time spent walking from one place to another. We walked slowly with elderly parents with us. While we love to board early and begin our cruise experience early, we also love avoiding lines. We may start boarding late for a better embarkation experience. PUBLIC AREAS - We walked the ship and got a feel for the layout, confirming it was exactly like the Equinox except we had Cellar Masters wine bar where they had the Gastropub, which we preferred with the TV and beer theme. Other than that, everything was clean, well maintained, very classy. FOOD - We thoroughly enjoyed the food on board. We dined in the "traditional" areas, Oceanview Cafe for breakfast and lunch, Moonlight Sonata for dinner. Food was very good in all areas, with lunch being especially nice with many choices and great quality throughout. My only complaint was the length of dinner. Service was good but a bit slow in the evening. I'm not sure if they waiters thought we would enjoy taking our time in a 2 hour dinner, or they were just so busy during the busy times we ate that they simply could not keep up. We had some slow eaters with us but dinners should have taken 90 minutes not two hours. We had any time dining and ate at all different times, from 6:30 to 8:00. Desserts in Oceanview were never as good as they looked - although ice cream was very good. Desserts in the sit down restaurants were all very good. We also had a meal in Tuscan Grill and one in Murano. Service and food were very good, but had a few minor service issues in Murano - including my wife with an allergy to shellfish had a minor reaction to the flambeed lobster from another table. She had to leave in the middle of the meal to make sure the reaction didn't become a major one. Had they asked about her allergy or mentioned this as a possible allergic reaction, we may have done things differently. We ate family style in Tuscan Grill and it was very enjoyable - highly recommended. BARS - We had a drinks package and enjoyed many of the bars. Service and drink quality was very good throughout. We discovered a few new drinks we had not had before. ENTERTAINMENT - I saw three shows and one comedian. The comedian was OK, the shows were good. Especially enjoyed the last show - Euphoria - but all three had some real high points. The musicians on board were good but not great. None stood out to us. We really enjoyed DJ Leo, especially on the first night. Loved his work on the "turntable". CABIN - see below. DEBARKATION - We had an 11:00 AM flight so we worked hard to make sure we made our flight. Here's what we did for the perfect early debarkation: - We met around 7:05 at Cafe al Bacio. We got in line soon after, with about 30 people in front of us. We schlepped our own bags - not an easy task with three elderly people in our party - but we did it without incident. - The line to debark started moving around 7:30. - Ship exit and customs was very fast. We probably got in our two cabs by 7:40. - I expect we arrived at the airport around 8:05. Cabs were $32 each Canadian. - All lines at the airport were short including flight check-in, bag drop, customs, and security. We were on our way to the gate by 8:35. So a process we expected would get us to the gate by 10:30 instead got us there almost two hours early. Lesson - if you plan to get off the ship early, even a 10:00 AM flight is possible unless there are unexpected delays. Our plane ride home was uneventful and we landed in Raleigh before 9:00 PM. Although I am a Platinum cruiser with Princess it had been a long time since I last sailed with them. As I booked a VERY last minute cruise to Alaska we literally had the last ocean view cabin (Plaza 202) on the ship--all the way forward. My concerns, however, mostly proved to be unfounded--yes we heard the anchor a couple of times but no we didn't hear the theater--yes, the laundry was a few doors down but we not only never heard it nor saw much activity, it actually turned out to be a huge advantage (who gets to return home with a suitcase full of freshly washed clothing :). The cabin steward, Anthony, was outstanding which was impressive considering his 10 years on the job. He checked in on us always with a warm smile and worked very hard to insure our cabin was sparkling and our needs met. Having mostly sailed in balconies on high floors I had forgotten the advantages of simply strolling from cabin directly to the center of activities--from a delicious and varied menu at the coffee bar (pastries, yes, but also lunch and dinner items with a large and always varied menu. There was also a wine bar nearby that featured tapas and wine flights, and plenty of comfortable tables to enjoy the remarkable scenery. The Star Princess also impressed with and one of the most creative and delicious dining room menus we've ever experienced (much better than a recent Celebrity sailing) as well. We adored the naturalist presentations and I had never seen so many folks working out at a cruise gym in 30+ sailings--lots of speciality offerings as well. The massages we had were both wonderful and yet different (international staff) and we appreciated the special coupons distributed for a birthday. We also enjoyed the naturalist presentations and bucket list shore excursions that were very well done (helicopter and ice hiking on a glacier, sea plane landing in absolute serenity surrounded by waterfalls, etc.). I also saw that Princess truly goes the extra mile missing with so many even upscale lines--from champagne fountains to a visually beautiful and delicious Alaskan brunch to a balloon drop and a wonderful presentation from the first woman to win the Iditarod--Princess continued to impress. Lastly, when a problem cropped up I was contacted immediately by the customer relations manager Gianluca, who was the consummate professional--he met me in person, offered a considerable amount of time to listen and really express his concern and desire to make things right --another rare occurrence in the industry. Princess made a "new" convert--we will be returning soon. Read Less

We booked the trip for a 50th birthday celebration and an Anniversary. We booked 4 rooms and had 10 people, 7 adults and 3 minors. In all I must say that we all had a fantastic time on the Escape! To start, the embarkation and disembarkation process were very smooth. From the time arriving at the dock at 11:15 we were on-board having lunch by 12 noon. The disembarkation was just as smooth. In reading the past reviews we were very skeptical about the overcrowding and issues with restaurants and shows. Next lets talk about dining, we took the advise of several past postings and we were able to reserve all dining at the restaurants we wanted. We celebrated our anniversary and a 50th birthday dinner for 10 and the service was great as long as you were not in a rush. The staff was attentive and the food in La Cucina and Cagneys was great. The gym was nice, clean and not crowded (7am each day). Even on a sold out ship there was never a wait for any machines. While they try to sell you on spa packages I just ignored them and enjoyed the facilities. The adult pool was very crowded but we had no issue in getting 3 chairs each morning to lay out. It is frustrating to see people reserve chairs and not use them for hours but by day 3 people had no issue asking staff to remove towels so others can sit. The tube slide was crowded on the two main sailing days but the other two slides had nearly no wait. My kids loved it. The bars and entertainment was great. Choir of man was a wonderful show, the piano bar was great and the comedy shows were entertaining. The 5 o’Clock Somewhere Bar was our favorite as it was quiet and the bartenders were great. We were in stateroom 13192 which was a mini suite. The room was clean and well attended. The room was big enough for our family of four. They decorated the room for our anniversary which was a great surprise for my wife. Bermuda was wonderful. We did all our own excursions. We loved the fact that you can come and go as you please off the boat. Golf at Royal Palms was unreal. We loved Calico Jacks , Horseshoe Bay and Tobacco Bay - cliff jumping was fun. Free ferry to St George was perfect. All in all we had an amazing trip and with my kids are the harshest critics on vacations they wanted me to book again for April 2020!!! Read Less

We sailed on the Celebrity Summit from Bayonne NJ in the summer of 2018 and had such a great time we booked onboard for the summer of 2019. On both sailings the crew were attentive and entertaining. The ship had a refurbishment at the beginning of 2019 and the cabins are spectacular. They have been given a clean, contemporary look which is pleasing to the eye. This has brought the Summit cabins to a similar feel and quality of Celebrity’s newer vessels. The thing that Celebrity is known for is their food quality. The abundance and quality on this cruise was outstanding whether in the Oceanview Café (daily buffet) or in the Cosmopolitan (main dining room). Both of these venues have been refurbished and are absolutely beautiful. All areas are kept immaculately clean and food presentation is a spectacle. If you like shopping on board, you have many choices of high end shops and boutiques, all offering tax free goods. As a family we enjoy general knowledge trivia and found the entertainment staff excellent, especially Rhuss and Dominick. Stateroom attendant Ian and our waiter and asst. waiter Donovan and Darshena deserve a special mention, always giving service with a smile. Nothing was too much trouble for any of them. I had an issue with noise from crew members so I talked with the Hotel Manager Danuta and the Front Desk Manager Miguel. They both listened to my concerns and were not dismissive, rectifying the problem and checking in with me daily to make sure that I was happy! Now that’s service! Celebrity are an amazing company who truly value their guests. I use the word guests, as that is how you are made to feel. An outstanding experience. Read Less

Because of Hurricane Dorian, we were unable to return to the port of Miami so there were several changes at the end that wound up putting us in New Orleans two days after we were supposed to dock in Miami. Norwegian paid for a hotel and booked us in a flight home the next day. When circumstances change like this it’s hard to make people happy but I think they did an excellent job. They kept us safely far away from the storm, had plenty of food and drinks to keep the party going, and we got an extra 3 days of vacation at no cost! I would sail Norwegian again with no hesitation. The dining and entertainment on board were both superior and the excursions we booked were amazing. The crew was friendly and we enjoyed all the activities offered. My children loved the ropes course. The pools were usually quite crowded but I think that is to be expected and we still found times to enjoy them when we had free time on port days. I can honestly say this was the best family vacation we have ever had. Read Less

I listen to z100 and Elvis Duran being that he’s The Godfather I got really excited about the new ship. I love the ship. It has beautiful bars, restaurants and lounges. I would suggest having a few bars open later than midnight and more late night food options other than only the local pub. After 12, we sometimes felt that we didn’t have any where to have drinks and talk. There was the social club but some nights we weren’t interested in being in that kind of environment. Otherwise the experience was marvelous. I would highly recommend this cruise and Alaska was breathtaking. Problably need more time in Ketchikan and British Columbia Canada. The Canada stop was at night. There was not much to do and an hour after being there all the shops closed. The tours are all very expensive. They should be a little more reasonable for families to afford. You already pay a lot for cruise shouldn’t have to worry about having so much to pay for excursions Read Less

Boat was amazing the food and service was top notch. Entertainment was excellent and the ports were amazing. Rooms clean and functional. Epic has a great staff with friendly servers and for a big ship never had to wait in line. Beatles show was alot of fun as was Broadway show. Western mediterian had amazing ports and the times in port were perfect. Also loved the cruise director whi had fun activities planned all day and night. The glow night party was also alot of fun. Maybe the pools were a little small would be the only complaint we had but didnt really go in any of them. Breakfast at taste on deck 5 was our favourite. Never waited for a drink and the casino was actually better than we thought . I would travel.on this ship again and would like to try this ship when it travels south in winter. Read Less

This was a trip to a bucket list area of the world, and the Nieuw Statendam did not disappoint. The staff were courteous, friendly and obliging (thank you Iman and Izee and others in the main dining room, and stewards Petrus and Joko who made everything work so smoothly for us and for whom nothing was ever too much trouble). I'll not repeat here the many positive comments made by other reviewers, save to say that I am in agreement with most of them. The food was excellent with sufficient variety, and the public areas were amazing. The only thing I would add some constructive criticism about is the level of on board entertainment provided. The musicians were talented, and from what I observed there was a "BB King" group, a classical music group, a rock and roll music group and a couple of pianists who played and sang together. There was also a small support orchestra for the theatre acts. I don't go to theatre performances at home, and avoid them on TV, so I am not in a position to offer any critique. The dancers could have included Michael Flatley and I still wouldn't have bothered attending. Chacun a son gout, but at least they were not the same entertainers every night. The other venues were a different story. Same players, same venue, same music style, same time, Every night, The day time daily activity program needn't have been published. It was invariably a rehash of the day before, and a copy could just as conveniently have been permanently affixed in each cabin. And some (most) of the "activities" being advertised? Friends of Bill W meet. Evening Mass (each evening). Mahjong players meet. Ping Pong players meet. Basketball players meet. Shuffleboard players meet. Bridge players meet. Pickleball players meet (yes, really). Shops are open with amazing deals (yeah right, I cruise to shop). There must have been a lot of deeply religious, card and board game playing sports fanatics on this cruise, although funnily enough I never came across any actual tournaments being conducted. Trivia was also there, And, apart from the bars, (and perhaps the casino for those so inclined) you would be hard pressed to find any other activity with general appeal. Seriously,I appreciate the age demographic of the HAL pool, and the fact that there were few sea days on this particular cruise, but I did expect a little more creativity. The ports of call were wonderful. If the ship excursions on offer matched those I privately arranged (and I believe they did) they would have been very much enjoyed. Read Less

2nd time on Allure. Amazing ship with lots to do for kids. Chops was great, the food in the main dining room was great too and service was superb. Don’t miss the hotdogs on boardwalk, worth the calories. Rarely felt crowded even though over 6000 passengers were sailing. Don’t forget to try ice skating and zip line. Flow rider is great but gets crowded on sea days. All the shows were fun. Because of Dorian, our cruise was extended by 3 days. Captain kept us updated at all times and the fun never stopped. Our beverage package and internet was extended free of charge. My only complaint is that I felt our room was not getting cold enough, we spoke to our steward and his supervisor came down to talk to us and reassured us that it was on maximum cool. It’s moving to Europe after the upcoming refurbishment. We may try it again then. Read Less

We are longtime NCL cruisers. We enjoy the freedom of making choices day to day while relying on the excellent service. For this cruise the destination was definitely the highlight. The scenery and the wildlife were incredible. The NCL Bliss made experiencing this beauty even more special with the introduction of their beautiful Observation Lounge on deck 15. It was such a lovely experience sailing in Glacier Bay. In addition the Captain made the bow available for picture taking. That was a special treat. The inclusion of Park Rangers to provide the history of the area and to assist in pointing out wildlife was fantastic! We were able to see a family of five bears come right down to the water. Once the Park Rangers pointed them out, they were easy to see but would have been missed otherwise. We enjoyed meals in most of the specialty restaurants with LeBistro continuing to be our favorite. We enjoyed Jersey Boys in the theater and would have liked to see more production shows rather than smaller lounge venues. Our cabin was perfect. We were in an aft balcony and enjoyed the extra room and lounge chair. Service was excellent and all crew we interacted with were knowledgeable. Shore excursions were fantastic; we enjoyed the Mendenhall Glacier in Juneau and a Salmon Bake. In Skagway we rode the White Pass Railroad and experienced the Yukon, a definite highlight. In Ketchikan we took a boat trip to experience the Totems and eagles. We received a BIG bonus because there were many whales in the area and we were able to see them breach, and even sleep. Absolutely fantastic. Loved the cruise! Looking forward to the next one on the new Cape Town South Africa to Singapore sailing in March :) Read Less

We wanted to start with an ocean cruise that brought us to countries we had not been too before. Norway was amazing and the stops we made along the start of this trip were truly memorable. We did do some of the "optional" tours along the way and some of the "included" tours were also quite good! The restaurant experiences (food, seating, service, etc) were quite an experience, as everyone seemed to want two help and be a part of our experience! The Fitness Center was perfect, never too crowded and my wife's facial and both our massages were among the best ever! Our room was very comfortable and the staff (Clark and Ameline) were great as far as extra water, coffee, etc. Enjoyed the Explorers Lounge as it was close to our room and got us out and relaxing a bit! There was only one thing that I would not do again...the Malmouse Castle was boring (Baron ?) and we unfortunately had a couple from New York, who seemed to know more than the "Baron" and constantly interrupted his long-winded description of the "castle". The soup was not that great and the organic beer was less than enjoyable! Now, overall, this experience did nothing to dampen the great time we had as we enjoyed everything else on our trip and have booked the Ageatic Cruise for next year and have no qualms about going and enjoying! Thank you! Read Less

We had an amazing cruise! We missed Ketchikan, which was very sad but we had a full afternoon and evening in Victoria. We traveled with 10 of us ages 9-79. We had 4 staterooms and I personally had an interior and it was large and comfortable. The show were great, we only got one because of the missed port. Magician and comic were fine but the music walk is AMAZING! Dancing at BB King was so fun and be sure to listen to the billboard piano players. They are amazing. My 9 year old found a friend at the pool and she swam with her everyday instead of the HAL club. She wasn’t much interested in the club. Too many young kids for her. Not too many kids in the club and it would have been fine if she hadn’t found a friend. Food was amazing! We only ate at the Lido and main dining room. Not sure how you couldn’t find enough food at those 2 places. Oh. And we went to tea everyday we could. I read so many conflicting reviews before I left that I wanted to write and say, it’s a beautiful ship, the covered pool is amazing and the staff and food could not be better. If you’re going to have a good time on a cruise, it’s up to you to make it fun. We went to the shows, swam and hot tubbed, tried all the food, danced at the Bb king and sang with the billboard artists. We also took games to play in the crows nest and at the poolside. Thanks HAL staff for taking such good care of us. Read Less

We've been to Alaska many times and we wanted our daughter and her family to see the beauty of the land that we keep going back to see. It's so peaceful with breathtaking scenery in all directions. There are many areas of pristine, untouched nature and wildlife abound everywhere. Embarkation and Disembarkation were the best of all the cruises we've been on. The crew couldn't do enough to make us comfortable and fulfill all our needs. The food was excellent and varied including gluten-free bread and dessert offerings. There could be a more consistent kids' program, however. And an indoor pool would be nice for Alaskan tours. The boutiques are well stocked with a diverse selection of goods. I love the International Cafe which is open 24 hours for a late-night snack. I loved taking a hot bubble bath at the end of the night...such a treat on a ship. Well worth going. Check the hours of some of the ports because we had one very early one...7 a.m., and one very late one...7 p.m. I'd have preferred more daytime hours for being onshore. Read Less
