In 2015, we did our first Alaska trip, which was an HAL Land/Sea Tour, where we did a land based tour of the Yukon first, and then did a short (4 night) cruise on the Volendam to finish off our tour. This week long cruise on the Westerdam, from Vancouver to Anchorage, paled in comparison to that experience, for a number of reasons. On this trip, my husband and I also brought along my mother in ...
We chose the Westerdam for the itinerary from Vancouver to Alaska and Denali addition. The ship was very nice, many small bars or sitting areas for when weather was cool. However we had great weather all but one day!
Enjoyed BB King Blues bar the most - we prefer blues music anyway and enjoyed the band every night. The Billboard lounge has the “dueling pianos” and they were okay. Did not care ...
Dedicated NCL membersDisembarkation took 3 hours. They lost our souvenirs which they were holding for us and then were nasty about it. Two nights for dinner at Cagneys were fair at best. Our potatoes came first followed 10 minutes later by our steaks which were not cooked properly. Dinner at La Cucina was not up to par. Food came late again. The first 7 nights were otherwise great. Dinner ...
This was an extended family cruise+land tour of Alaska. My parents were celebrating their 60th anniversary and said the only place they had ever been that they wanted to return to was Alaska. Because we have all had great experiences with HAL in the past and my mom describes them as the "most elegant" and luxurious cruise she's taken, we only focused on them for our planning. Our group ranged ...
Overall, we were disappointed in this cruise. We had such a great time last year on the Getaway, we were expecting the same experience, but there were quite a few things that were lacking this time.
1) Embarkation was really easy, and fast. Our luggage arrived in our room earlier than expected also, which was nice.
2) The free bottle of champagne in the room for being a Latitudes member is ...
I chose this cruise for a mother daughter trip. Mom 62, DH’s 38 & 36. We started with a good embarkation.
Day 1 Arrived at port June 2 at 10am and we were onboard by 10:30. So my platinum status was doing well. We headed to the coffee shop for a nice cold coffee. Ate lunch in Taste it was good. We were in our state room a mini balcony suite 11234 by 12:15. Nice space for 3. I really liked ...
We chose this cruise for the ages of kids camp - kids activities! We were disappointed! The kids camps had way too many rules! My kids have cruised at least once a year for their entire life and they hated the kids clubs! This is the first cruise that they did not enjoy the camps! (They have cruise ncl two other times and we did not find it to be so restrictive as this time!)
Main dining ...
We have cruised a lot and I must say Celebrity did not put their best foot forward. Cabin Steward was great, room good but after that FAIR is the best I can say. Although the Cruise Director Thanks everyone for Their energy in every other sentence there was NO energy from the staff or crew. Starting with the lifeboat drill, it was long drawn out and some STUPID video of some James Bond type of ...
We choose this cruise because our adult children chose it. We would choose it again if they wanted to, but we would never choose it for ourselves. We prefer higher-end ships and cruise lines. All features of the ship were adequate. Some of the specialty restaurants were exceptionally good. The gym had great machines, but the mats and exercise balls were locked up and we couldn't use them. ...
Worst accommodations ever on my 14 cruises! Room 6237 was like being at a rock concert for 5 days! The walls, the bed, and the floor were booming during every show! If you go to bed early or enjoy some quiet time at night this is not the room for you! It is above the encore theater and there is no padding whatsoever! They offered to move us but we needed two rooms beside each other and they ...
