Great expedition, ship, Covid measures and food disappointing

Review for a Antarctica Cruise on Greg Mortimer (Aurora Expeditions)

We wanted the full Antarctica experience so included Falklands and South Georgia as well as Antarctic Penninsula. You’ll most likely only go once so go for all of it. This part did not disappoint at all. Expedition staff were overall young but very experienced and excellent, they worked extremely hard to get us off the ship as much as was possible. Presentations were well-researched and ...

BA to Antarctic to Falklands Experience

Review for a Antarctica Cruise on Roald Amundsen

I have to start this review with a fond farewell to Buenos Aires, as the cruise package started from there. We came in early and were in BA the day Argentina won the World Cup, so there was joyful celebrating throughout the city which kicked off a wonderful next 2 1/2 weeks. However... it meant that, two days later, we had to leave our hotel at 1:30 AM in a vain attempt to avoid airport traffic to ...

Good to Check that Bucketlist

Review for a Antarctica Cruise on Roald Amundsen

Compliments: -Boat is exceptional, it was built by Rolls-Royce so quality is premium -Food is quality if repetitive -Expeditions are enjoyable and good exercise -All the penguins you could hope for. We also saw whales, dolphins and seals. Some of my critiques: -More boat entertainment for guests. No comedians, (dedicated) bands, any dancing, movie lounges, nothing. It's a got a ...

Inaugural cruise on Sylvia Earle

Review for a Antarctica Cruise on Sylvia Earle

My wife and I were on the inaugural cruise to the Antarctic for the Sylvia Earle back in December 2022. She was a beautiful ship and very well designed for expedition cruising. I was particularly impressed with the zodiac marina and how quickly the crew could get them into and out of the water. The expedition cruise team was professional, the ship was comfortable, and the food was good. ...

Great way to experience coastal Norway

Review for a Norwegian Fjords Cruise on Maud

Hurtigruten’s “Expedition” series cruises are half-way between a traditional cruise and an adventure expedition. The food is top class, plentiful and well managed but the choice of restaurants, bars and dining experiences is limited. The on-board entertainment centres around lectures, craft activities etc and there are no “shows” or anything of the like. There is no casino. The focus is on ...

Lovely Cruise, Needs some Improvements

Review for a South America Cruise on Le Bellot

We wanted to see Maya sites and wanted to try Ponant. We have sailed on Cunard, Celebrity, Oceania, Windstar, Seabourn, Holland America and Viking - 20+ cruises in all, 6 on Seabourn. I would say 80-90 percent of the passengers spoke French as their primary language. We enjoyed that. The officers are French, the staff Indonesian or Filipino. We were rather taken aback to see the captain ...

Serious management communication issues between departments

Review for a Antarctica Cruise on Viking Octantis

We have been on a couple other Viking cruises, and they ran like a Swiss watch. This trip was not like that. Weather forced many changes to excursion schedules. The excursion planners did not get this info to the front desk team in a timely or consistent manner. They also chose to go "paperless" on the Viking Daily that week. The front desk team did not know how to tell passengers where to find ...

Antarctic Discovery - Good but not great

Review for a Antarctica Cruise on Viking Octantis

My husband and I have been strong advocates of Viking and I have personally been so pleased that Viking Cruises has been able to launch its seasons with new and tried and true itineraries. Sadly, however we were disappointment with the Octantis sailing that commenced on November 5th from Rio de Janeiro. We expected a more seamless adventure given the cost of the cruise and our high expectations ...

5 Stars but for cabin steward

Review for a Amazon River Cruise on Delfin III

Everything- food,, naturalists, room (corner suite ) -. was excellent except for our cabin steward. Yes we were in the middle of nowhere but my wife and I shouldn’t have to share a bath towel after a day of exploring from eight in the morning until nine in the evening. Rooms are supposedly serviced 3 times a day so there were ample opportunities to replenish our towels. I shouldn’t had to ask ...

A DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE

Review for a Caribbean - All Cruise on Viking Octantis

User Avatar

The expedition experience that Viking is selling with this ship is definitely different from the typical ocean cruise experience. There are about two dozen staff members who are assigned to bring the expedition experience to life. The ship shares many of the design elements of the ocean ships. The cabins are nice and feature a floor to ceiling window instead of a balcony. The room darkening shade ...
