Beware booking with Hurtigruten

Review for a Europe - British Isles & Western Cruise on Kong Harald

Cruise to see Northern Lights and Norwegian coastline This was a Christmas present for my wife who had to cancel due to her sisters bereavement 2 weeks prior to departure. Hurtigruten were most unsympathetic and inflexible, they would not refund the cost, or change names on tickets to allow use by someone else, or defer the dates. In the end to avoid losing all the money I travelled ...

Disappointing cruise - National Geographic involvement very low

Review for a Asia Cruise on Le Bougainville

We just completed a 2 week cruise on the Ponant ship Le Bouganville to the Seychelle Islands in the Indian Ocean. It was sold to us as a National Geographic Expedition cruise. A summary of my review is as follows: • The ship is clean, modern and has nice layout. • The standard sized cabin was smaller than many cruise lines, but adequate. We found plenty of storage space available for our ...

Great possibilites but falls short of its potential

Review for a Middle East Cruise on Le Bougainville

We just came back from 2 weeks sailing the Secret Islands of the Seychelles on Le Bougainville, a new ship of Ponant. We had never cruised with Ponant but thought the itinerary and their partnership with National Geographic for this trip was exciting. It was a new ship that had just set sail this year so we tried them out. It had great potential with Nat Geo naturalists and photographer to visit ...

Over priced, poor quality

Review for a Antarctica Cruise on Silver Explorer

For our second cruise in Antarctica we chose Silversea and, sadly, paid a lot of money for what turned out to be lower quality than our first cruise on Seabourn, Contrary to the spin from the company, this ship does not offer five star luxury; at best it is probably a three star experience. Our very large cabin (we got a two level upgrade) like most of the ship is not well designed or decorated. ...

BEWARE Hurtigruten- If Antarctics is your goal, don't get taken in by their lies

Review for a Antarctica Cruise on Maud

Bottom line up front: Avoid Hurtigruten Cruises (and any of their ships including the Midnatsol) if your aim is to go on a "once in a lifetime" type journey. You will probably be disappointed. We traveled on the Midnatsol in Oct-Nov 2019 for a Southern Hemisphere Adventure cruise that was supposed to take us from Montevideo (Uruguay) to Patagonia, Falklands and Antarctica before returning to ...

Columbia & Snake River Cruise was major disappointment

Review for a North America River Cruise on National Geographic Quest

We spent much more money and had much less value than we have on other cruises. The food was mediocre at best. They charge for WIFI and do not include even house wine during cocktail hour/briefings. The cabins were fine and the ship appeared clean. However, for the cost, the expectation is high. They seem to pin most of their value on the on-board naturalists. They were fine, and the ...

Test cruise instead of Expedition cruise

Review for a Trans-Ocean Cruise on Roald Amundsen

Summer 2018 we booked the expedition-cruise "Alaska and Canada - Aleutian Islands, bears and Inside Passage" for more than £ 6.000,- p.P. According to the travel description we will land on the remote Beering-Sea Islands St. Matthew and St. Paul to experience puffins, sea elephants, bears, vulcanoes, indigenous people, etc. A further landing was anounced in Unga Village, a deserted village on ...

This was supposed to be an expedition cruise but it was definitely not.

We chose this cruise because of our previous fantastic experience on board MS Midnatsol in Antarctica. We specifically wanted an expedition cruise. We stayed in suite 841 which was lovely, good size, nice balcony and really comfortable beds. Sadly during heavy seas it sounded like someone had left a screwdriver behind the wall and the noise was very intrusive. Dining was poor. The lovely ...

Very Disappointed - Will Never Sail on Roald Amundsen Again

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Roald Amundsen

We have sailed on Hurtigruten’s ms Fram twice. Of the many cruises we have been on, when asked, we always say that our Antarctica trip on Hurtigruten’s Fram was the best by far. What a disappointment then to sail on the Roald Amundsen. This was a totally unsatisfactory expedition. There are too many passengers for it to operate as an expedition ship. We were told by Tudor Morgan, Expedition ...

We went to Greenland but Hurtigruten tried a snow job on us

Review for a Canada & New England Cruise on Roald Amundsen

We chose the cruise because of the promised itinerary. We were on the same cruise as Grizzly56 who has submitted a review already so I will ask you read his review and I will avoid duplication here. We booked through ROL Cruise Ltd on 24th July 2018 and had decided to book a suite and a suite number was duly allocated. This same suite number remained the same all through our correspondence ...
