The Market: Spend some time at the village market, where stores line the streets, selling a variety of items including food, gold (from nearby gold mines), jewelry and clothing. You'll also see hair salons and fabric shops, among others. Bhamo is only 40 miles from the Chinese border, so you'll find a lot of items from China there. Expect to haggle for the best deals. Many items won't be marked with prices, so when a shopkeeper offers the initial price, make a counteroffer of about 60 percent off of that price.
