Don't Miss in Port St. Louis-du-Rhone

The sandy, 10-kilometer-long Napoleon Beach is worth visiting and is only a 3.5-kilometer journey away (EUR2 on a shuttle bus quite near the river ship's berth) or a bike ride along Avenue of the Republic to Napoleon Road Beach Carteau. Along the way, there is wild scrubland and shallow lakes that often have flocks of flamingos. Sadly, the left side of this beach has had its atmosphere "ruined" from the clearly visible petroleum chimneys and incinerators in the commercial port of Fos-sur-Mer just across the Gulf sur Mer.
