We had a very long day that included the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, the site where Jesus was born, then to Jerusalem to see the Church of the Holy Sepulcher (where Jesus was crucified and resurrected), the Church of all nations (built on the rock upon which Jesus prayed his last night), the Wailing or Western wall, and the overview of the city. It's a lot to cram into one day, with many crowds and lines and confusing jumble of history, religions and cultures. We were fascinating by the long drive, admiring the ingenious agriculture throughout the largely arid country. We hadn't realized that Bethlehem was contained within the Palestinian zone, which means it's partitioned off by barbed wire and walls and guarded at checkpoints by soldiers with serious guns. What would our Lord have thought of that?

This was at the end of the tour of Jerusalem and we were late to Bethlehem. We were rushed and did not get to see much of the Church of the Nativity. The guide there was good but this part of the tour was somewhat disappointing.

Local guide was unprepared. Many people trying to gain access to narrow and cramped space. Badly managed and then to a wood carving shop that was not great

Very crowded with timed tours. Wedding due to take place so rather rushed. Guide informative. Lots of photo opportunities. Busy and tiring day. Good road infrastructure.

Although not truly walking tours, they did involve a good deal of walking at specific points, particularly visiting various churches connected to religious aspects with a lot of time standing, and walking surfaces are not always even. In some places it is required to go up and down stairs which are often narrow and not even to complete the tour. Many of the churches and other sites may be poorly lit or very dark. Several locations have large crowds visiting.
