Gibraltar Great Siege Tunnels Excursion Reviews

Gibraltar Great Siege Tunnels cruise excursion
Overall Rating
One of the main attractions of Gibraltar are the Great Siege Tunnels. They were carved out by the Merchant Marines in order to defend Gibraltar during the Great Siege of 1779-1783.

Again we visited these 15 years ago and they were still how we remembered them.

This tour gets 3 stars all because of the guide, who was tremendous. She told fabulous stories about the war and what happened on Gibraltar.

Very interesting history of the sieges and tunnels, plus interactions with the monkeys. 200 meter incline upwards so a bit strenuous.

Cable car extremely crowded (21 people in each car, packed in like sardines), so couldn't even move to admire the views. Cafe at the top charge £5 for two cups of tea (self-service) and £5.30+ for a pre=packed sandwich. Caves fascinating, but small.

Interesting place to visit, would liked to have spent more time here, the tunnel tour was amazing when you realize people lived there for years underground. It is dank, wet and not good if you are claustrophobic but if you can get past that it is a great tour.

Interesting history lesson considering the present situation at Gibraltar. Nice history. Not for the faint hearted to get up on the roads. They are narrow.
