The actual Dolphin Encounter was fun and I would do it again, but not here. The actual Encounter is on another island Anguilla. You have to take a 45 minute boat ride across rough seas to get to it. So you lose around 2 hours of the excursion traveling. Also the beach had a lot of sea weed and not a good place to recreate. It was supposed to last 6 hours but turned into 7. We did not have enough time to see any of Saint Maarten. Read Less

Was a great day.
Sail Date: December 2016
Was a great day. The only issue we had, was that they lost track of time with the first group so the second group (ours) was rushed with the dolphin (Penelope), and didn't get our lunch until right before leaving the island.

The dolphin swim was great - we all loved it. When you take the boat to Anguilla for the swim, sit up top. When you board the boat, there's air conditioning in the bottom. They don't tell you that they turn the air off for the 1 hour boat trip to Anguilla. Half the cabin got sick. Sitting upstairs is hot and it's in the sun, but no one up top got sick and things cooled down once the boat got moving. Don't sit on the back of the boat because you'll be sucking in exhaust fumes the entire ride. Read Less

The crew was amazing and informative and patient, with all of us. We spent about two hours with the dolphins, which exceeded our hopes. This is a great company with a great adventure for anyone who wants to be close to dolphins. They really take care of their site, care for and about the dolphins and their guests. I absolutely loved this excursion. It was about a 45 min boat ride to Angulla Island and then about a 3 minute bus ride. The dolphins were amazing and the staff was very knowledgeable. They did allow me to wear my water shoes until it was time for the boogie board ride. Then I took them off for that.It was an amazing experience and I thoroughly enjoyed it. We then went back to the center which I thought lasted to long. You were able to buy things there and purchase pictures. You cannot bring cameras out on the docks so if you want pics of this experience it will cost you and it's not print outs, it's a CD. One pic on a cd is 30.00 but all pics, mine were about 40 of them are 79.00. For me it was a once in a lifetime thing so I bought them all. They also provided lunch which was a tuna sandwich or a turkey and cheese sandwich. The turkey sandwich reminded me of a lunchable. It came with chips and punch. If you wanted a can of soda it cost 3.00. But a coors light beer only cost 1.00. Go figure. When we got back to St. Maarten, I had two hours to get some shopping in. Lots of shops but not too many that sold hoodies. I didn't realize there was a boardwalk until it was almost time for me to go back to the ship. Cabs should only charge you 3-4 dollars, I found out the hard way after I paid six cause I was the only in it. A few ladies at a store told me it doesn't matter how many and that I got ripped off.Overall, great port!!Wh Read Less

There was a 45 minute water taxi ride to Anguilla, where we were then transported to the area where they keep the dolphins. After a relaxing time on the beach (with snacks and drinks available), we went in for our swim with the dolphins. The experience itself was absolutely amazing. Just wish the pictures weren't ridiculously expensive (or that there was one of the two of us with the dolphin). The lunch provided wasn't good, and it was definitely a different experience eating lunch with chickens wandering around the picnic tables, but then again I didn't sign up for a fancy culinary adventure. This was worth every penny! We were very tired since this was at the end of the cruise but it was amazing!!! I expected a couple minutes with a dolphin close by me but instead I got to hold one, kiss her nose, ride holding her flippers, and have her push me on a boogie board. The lunch provided was good but watch out for the chickens and roosters. They wanted my husband's sandwich. We fell asleep on the water taxi ride back to St. Maarten.
