This was the highlight of our trip. We had so much fun here. They were training a young dolphin while we were there and so while our group was interacting with the trained dolphin, my husband and I were taken aside to help with training the young one. They they let us interact with the other dolphin. So we got two for the price of one. So much fun. It's much cheaper if go to their website directly and book then through the cruiseline. Read Less

We did the Dolphin Royal Swim - in my opinion, the ONLY way to go. (Unless you have really young children with you.) This was WONDERFUL!! We had such a good time - it made both of us want to move to Tortola and become dolphin trainers. :) The foot push and swimming with their dorsal fins was such a rush. My daughter and I were thrilled with this excursion and would have spent the entire day with those dolphins if we could have. The people in our group ranged from 6 to a grandfather (probably mid-70s). Erwin, our guide, rocked the experience! I am now totally in love with dolphins and their beauty. Matisse and Monet - our dolphins - have two new fans! I'm pretty sure neither of us will ever forget this experience - and the food was pretty good, too. You have to buy their photos if you want pictures, but I think we got 100 for $129. (You pick the ones you want.) It seems to me that if someone in your group isn't participating in the swim, they could stand on the dock and take pictures, but don't quote me on that. This required a taxi ride from the ship to the facility - which wasn't much. I *think* it was $9/person each way. Anticipate standing in a line to check in - and try not to be late. The lady there has no patience for tardiness - even if it's due to you having to stand in their line! If you are a little late, don't freak - they run this program on the hour, so they will put you with the next group. (Unless you're in the 1:00 group - then you have a problem.) The place did try to reschedule some people to 2:00 - without their permission or knowledge. This doesn't work as you must reboard the ship by 2:30. I highly suggest printing and taking proof of your reservation, just in case. The gift shop/check in people had a few issues and weren't very friendly - the trainer and dolphins more than made up for any annoyance we felt while checking in. I can't recommend the Royal Swim enough!! Read Less

I booked the Dolphin Encounter to experience interaction with the dolphins, and I was not disappointed. We were standing in water 4 ft deep and were able to pet the dolphin as well as give a kiss and get a kiss from Bolivar, our dolphin. Our leader welcomed questions from the group and gave us lots of information on the training of the dolphins. Outdoor storage cubicles were provided for storage of our items. There were photographers on site capturing the interactions with the dolphins . Photos were available for purchase, of course. Read Less

For 3 of us the photos came to $169. so that was extra after paying for each of us to do the excursion. My kids 22 & 15 were thrilled. We didn't get to do this on our 1st cruise.
