Viking guidance for this excursion was faulty in that it was listed as "moderate" in its activity level, but it did not adequately describe the very challenging tight and constricted passage ways inside the major ruin.

This was the surprise of the trip.
Sail Date: October 2018
This was the surprise of the trip. I very much enjoyed seeing a site that was so so old, roughly 2000-1500 BCE. The drive was pretty and the light lunch of local favorites was delicious.

Barumini is an interesting site and worth seeing.
Sail Date: April 2018
Barumini is an interesting site and worth seeing. However, you do need to be fairly agile to get inside. There is a steep almost-ladder of stones near the top of the tower that you have to get down to get in and some of our tour struggled.

Being January, the weather was overcast, windy and really cold. In spite of this we enjoyed our Secrets of Sardinia tour with Dirk, our guide. We had the best cappuccino I can remember in a little village on the way to Barumini and enjoyed seeing the murals which decorated many of the buildings there. The ruins of Su Nuraxi, a bronze age fortress, were fascinating and and the countryside where we stopped to have lunch was beautiful. Back in Cagliari, per our request, Dirk took us to a cheese store where we bought some Sardinian cheese and wine.It was a wonderful day. Read Less
