Santiago (Valparaiso) Valparaiso City Tour Excursion Reviews

A bay bordered by steep hills, stately old Victorian homes, cable cars - no, it's not San Francisco, California. Welcome to Valparaiso. Populated in 1536, and named after the birthplace of conquistador Diego de Almagro, Valparaiso is Chile's oldest city. It is also the gateway to Chile's central valley and the capital of Santiago.
Beware.

Beware. This is shown on itenerey. It is not. You stay in Santiago and sail from SAN Antonio. We went here on morning before sailing so a little rushed but worth the visit. Also went to Vinas Del Mar.

The ship didn't stop at Valparaiso but because I was interested in seeing this city I took a tour which involved a long drive this destination. Other passengers said Santiago was fantastic so I wonder if I should have gone there

We took a all day city tour with Oliver Schmitt. He picked us up at our hotel in the morning. The tour included the neighboring town of Vina del Mar. Oliver was a great guide. He took us to places that were unusual and beautiful and we really got an insite into the Chilean culture. During the drive we discussed many topics of interest and he suggested additional reading materials, music, and movies. He was so interested in sharing the culture of his country he followed up with an email that listed all the things we discussed during the tour. Oliver made it possible for us to have a better understanding of the town and its people. You can reach Oliver at his email: oliverskultour@gmail.com We highly recommend a day with Oliver! Read Less

Thomas Poussard met us at the port. He had a small bus for our group. His English was very good. He told us some history of Valparaiso as we rode through the city.
