Great way to do a reccy and see Noumea - expensive through ship try to book direct for half the price. If you sit at front can be hard to hear over engine noise. If you sit in rear there can be some sway and wobble

Fun, interesting, and great views again!!! Loved this. We got off the train in the city and walked to the shops and market. Then we caught the free shuttle bus back to the island.

People had warned us about first impressions of Noumea - it is a working port and a shock to the system after the quietness of the previous islands. After a short bus ride out of the port terminal, we went on the Tchou Tchou train, for 90mins tour of the city....our guide, Dave, was very funny in his commentary. We also went into the WW11 Museum, which was very informative. We were, however, rather alarmed at the smog which was discharge from the nearby quarry to the port just as the ship was leaving....did not leave the best last memory of Noumea

Saw lots of the interesting spots including look outs, beaches, Naval base, Our Lady's Statue and grotto. The markets etc and town centre were great too.

Did the Chou Chou train with a group of 8 and loved it (although the morning tea was underwhelming and the instruction to take only 2 pieces of cake seemed a little harsh). Nice restaurants near the quay.
