Hiroshima Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park Excursion Reviews

The most prominent structure is the A-Bomb Dome, located just across the river from the park. Built in 1915 as the first western-style brick building, it served as the industrial promotion hall for a prosperous city. The atomic bomb exploded 2,000 feet above the building and instantly killed everyone inside. In 1996, its stabilized ruins were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Nice tour, but expensive.
Nice tour, but expensive. Consider taking the shuttle into downtown and doing Hiroshima on your own as you can see more at a better price.

Our cruise arrived in Hiroshima in the morning, and left early in the afternoon. We went to the A bomb dome as well as the Peace Memorial Park and museum. I could have used more time in the museum, but we were on a limited schedule. We also visited the Shukkeien Garden. I could have sacrificed that to instead have more time at the museum, but it honestly was a very beautiful spot, especially with the plum blossoms out, so I didn't mind too much. It does highlight the fact that Hiroshima is not just about August of 1945, and is a thriving city. Read Less
