The climb etc to the falls was far too hard for my wife and myself.. our son ( aged 31) even found it very strenuous. The trip even had a person with a wheel chair on it... pure nuts!! The tour included a Hindu temple which you could not get into or even take pictures from the outside.... why take people to see something they cannot enjoy or visit. The guide on the tour spoke English like the policeman spoke French in the TV program 'Hello Hello'..... sentences with mixed English and French and mumbled... it was impossible to understand her. Our only MSC excursion chosen as we had on board credit and I really didn't want to mess with Euros and don't speak French. Kudos to MSC for pulling of these excursions as there was a taxi strike that closed down access to the cruise port. Many people with private excursions were stranded. MSC chartered a ferry and took all their excursions across the bay to the industrial port where they staged the tour buses, circumventing the taxi blockade of the cruise port. The tour itself was a typical cruise line bus tour with about 50 people. The road to Carbet Falls is windy and fairly treacherous for such a vehicle. The walk to the bottom of the falls is about 1.5 miles and very steep at times. The viewing platform has mostly collapsed and there was a line for taking quick pictures once there. Many signs were posted not to leave the trail and walk on the river rocks, but of course there were people ignoring them. There was barely enough time to walk the trail wait to take a picture and walk back to the bus. Smokers had a very difficult time and made us late returning. Read Less

It was pouring rain. It is a rain forest, after all. We hiked across a cobblestone path, and I thought I was either going to drown or break my ankle. If I had known how it was really going to be, I would not have gone. But the falls ... Read More
It was pouring rain. It is a rain forest, after all. We hiked across a cobblestone path, and I thought I was either going to drown or break my ankle. If I had known how it was really going to be, I would not have gone. But the falls were gorgeous. However, there were so many people, you only got 30 seconds in line to take a picture. Not that much fun. Best part was seeing the little crabs that hike next to the trail. Read Less

It was quite a hike down to see the water falls and then back up again.
