Bonaire Mangrove Boat Tour Excursion Reviews

Discover mangrove forests as you gently glide through the crystal-clear waters of the National Park at Lac Bay. These sheltered mangrove canopies, declared a National Park Preserve by the Bonairean government, can only be visited with a trained guide. These are the nurseries of the coral reefs and create essential breeding grounds for birds.

Bumpy ride to quiet preserved area, with view of flamingos.
Sail Date: February 2018
Bumpy ride to quiet preserved area, with view of flamingos. Nice boat ride. Saw several different types of herons. Bit pricey and not given too much opportunity to take pictures.

Tour was on a small boat with only 8 others.
Sail Date: December 2017
Tour was on a small boat with only 8 others. Guide was very good in explaining the mangroves, but the cruise line did not explain what was needed to get on this boat. If you go, you will be wading in about a foot of water to get to boat.

New port for me and i LOVED Bonaire! Absolutely beautiful (and well protected) eco-system! I heard from other passengers that it was some of the best snorkeling EVER! We were in Bonaire til 11 pm, and while I had planned on getting back off the ship after dinner, I never did. So I don't know if there was anything to do. I could see a couple restaurants/bars from the ship that appeared to be busy. Would love to go to Bonaire again! Read Less

The impression we were given about Bonaire was that "there was very little to do", "very little shopping, only a couple of stores", and this island is all about diving. We booked the Mangrove tour so that we would have something to do ..... it was worth it. Our guide was a young marine biologist, working to save money to purchase his own boat so he can study the mangroves in depth. The company was on time, professional, fun and provided excellent information and a calm and peaceful experience in the mangrove. Enjoyed every minute and would highly recommend it. Worth the $40 pp I believe. After the tour, they returned us to Bonaire, downtown area which was colorful and full of local shops, a grocery store, pharmacy and several restaurant (with free wifi). There was a market area with local crafters who were not pushy or aggressive. The bar was set pretty low since Diamonds International doesnt have a shop here and you cant get a charm, but we found the island interesting, beautiful and easy to walk around. Read Less

Nice visit.
Sail Date: January 2015
Nice visit. The town itself was limited, buth the Mangrove Boat Tour was nice, relaxing, and informative. Did a good job of preserving the environment with all electric boats. Chance for a nice swim as well.
