Bilbao Bilbao Old Quarter Excursion Reviews

Known as the "Seven Streets" by locals, the Bilbao Old Quarter is where the city originated and you'll find plenty of historic sights amidst its streets. Today, it's also where you will find some of the best shopping and dining in this dynamic port city.

Enjoyed a walk around the Old Quarter. The highlight of the downtown was walking through the huge downtown market. Every kind of seafood you can imagine is displayed. Fishmongers clean the fish right there and serve the customers, then walk further and see the poultry shop, then beef, and on and on. Too little time exploring the heart of downtown, and we had to be shagged out of the market. This tour included authentic tapas at a little restaurant. There was a little time for shopping. Also we were introduced to the Guggenheim Museum, grounds only, not inside. Read Less

Our guide was friendly & informative. We went to a city park in the hills for a photo opp. Then they took us to the old quarter for a walking tour. Our guide did a great job. We went on our own for a bit & then met up with the tour a while later. We were dropped off for a very short time at the Guggenheim museum to walk around outside & take pictures of the structure and sculptures outside. There wasn't enough time to go inside the museum, but we knew that ahead of time. Very pleasant day. We truly enjoyed Bilbao. Read Less

Combined with visit to Urdiales. Really liked both places and would visit Bilbao again as the city visit was a bit too hurried. Note that it is at least 30mins drive in fairly heavy traffic from dock to City Centre, beware of time. There is a nice bay, beach, promenade area adjacent to the dock if you don't fancy the journey into Bilbao but it's worth a visit. Read Less
