A quick 20 minute drive to the starting point where we picked up 4 passenger side-by sides driving around the beautiful island of Antigua. We found the island to be VERY friendly. Everyone we passed, all day long, would wave to us. From children to farmers in their fields, they all waved hello at us. The island has grass filled fields, agriculture and of course scenic beaches. This was our favorite island on this itinerary. Lunch was at Papa’s Bar. You sit in a covered open restaurant and get your choice of hamburger, hot ham and cheese wrap, or a salad. Non-alcoholic drinks are included, including smoothies. YUM! After lunch we drove through their rainforest, which was beautiful. We stopped at a beach on the south side of the island. Bar and bathrooms were available here. A quick 4 minute drive back to our starting point. The side-by-side was very comfortable. It had a windshield with wipers unlike the ATVs others in the group were driving. A clean island with a great vibe! We will be back! Read Less

Booked an 3-4 hour island tour but the other couple decided that they needed to return only after 1 hours so we did not get to see very much. We saw Nelson's Dockyard from the road as well as where you could get a nice picture from Shirley Heights although our driver did not even offer to let us pay the admission. Not much to see on the island. Next time I will go to a private beach resort. Read Less

Sean from Scenic Island Tours is absolutely excellent at what he does. From the time we walked up to him and he was well-dressed with fancy shoes and the whole nine I knew we had made a good choice. He had a very nice van that was well air conditioned and he had what seemed like endless knowledge about the island. The entire island tour was made into an interesting story that he narrated the entire time. Our stops were interesting and filled with good history, but not so long that they became boring. And, the highlight for us, was stopping a few times for local (delicious) fruit and food. I will undoubtedly be doing this tour again and would recommend it to anyone! Read Less

We intentionally did not plan anything for my parents in Antigua as we had big plans for St Lucia and wanted to make sure my Dad was rested up. My parents stayed in port and on the ship again and me and my husband went on a tour with Antigua Buggys. This tour is offered through Royal but by booking independently we got a longer tour with lunch included for less money then the tour offered by the ship. Getting a taxi to the meeting location was very easy. Antigua has taxi dispatchers that help you at the port. We arranged for our driver to pick us up at the end of the tour. For the tour you have either a 2 or 4 seater off road budget which you drive in convoy. The tour was great we drove over a dry lake bed, up and down hills with spectacular views and stopped at a deserted beach only accessible by off road vehicle for a swim. This was a fantastic tour but we both felt that you need to be an experienced driver to handle it. This is not a safe or easy drive. Read Less

Antigua:Another beautiful arrival port. I was delighted to be greeted by a Calypso band finally!! We prebooked a tour with Scenic Tours Antigua for a 6½ hour sightseeing tour that took us through St. John’s and across the island up to the stunning views from Shirley Heights and the Block House and then back down to the historical tour of Nelson’s Dockyard, with some time to explore at each stop. Our guide was the owner of the company, Sean and he was excellent. Very informative tour. It was a very modern comfortable, mini bus with good A/C and large windows for viewing. We then returned via Fig Tree Drive in the rainforest, before taking the option for beach time. We had about 90 minutes at the beautiful Turners Beach, which has one open air Beach Bar and Restaurant with a decent bathroom. We didn’t eat there, but enjoyed a rum punch and the local Wadadli beer. We rented chairs for $5. The white sand beach is beautiful with some palm trees. I attempted snorkeling, but the wind was still making the water a little rough and churned up so visibility was poor, only saw about 5 fish total by the rocks on the left side of the beach. But the water was warm and the swimming was great. There is a vendor area set up for shopping and a couple of people that were working the beach, but they weren’t pushy and left us alone when we said no thanks. Read Less

Wonderful, very enjoyable though it’s sad to see the over-commercialism of some islands especially Antigua with Nelson’s Dockyard now home to a massive marina full of Russian billionaires yachts, the bars & eateries staffed by stroppy, rude bar-staff with the old lovely atmosphere of the place gone. We had done this tour 15 years ago and Nelson's Dockyard was so interesting, unspoilt but the whole naturalness of the place has gone overtaken by the need for cash. Also sad to see the economic suffering about Antigua quite obvious with rundown buildings & unemployed youths sitting around the streets drinking beer looking at the tourists almost resentfully. (Very understandable) We had an enjoyable and thoroughly interesting tour guide, so….so intelligent, really interesting & knowledgeable, who said his children were studying hard and already had university places lined up, and intended to leave the islands so they could continue studying overseas – probably Cuba where a lot of young degree students are apparently heading - to become professionals at whatever they choose. He & his wife didn’t want them sitting around on the dole. Also sad to see rubbish piled high on main streets with gutters full of stinking water with yet more rubbish blocking the drains. Still, its a gorgeous island, and we came away having had a delightful few hours. Read Less

Confusion at the start got the tour off badly, and late. The price was to be $45, if we chose to stay at the beach, but many of us opted not, for $40. Highlight of the whole drive was to the National park, incl Nelson dockyard (could have been skipped, since we saw it from a distance at about 3 other vantage points - unless of course you like to see the big yachts which were in port).VFM was not good enough - price too high for what we got, especially as we each paid the park admission of $8 pp. Read Less

Found our tour via Travel Advisor, Antigua VIP Tours. Turned out that we were the only ones on our tour. Traveled in a comfortable Toyota van, fully air conditioned. Our host had a remote starter so that she would start the vehicle back up as we were heading back from a site to start it cooling down. We visited Betty's Hope, a sugar mill plantation that is undergoing restoration, Devil's Bridge, Shirley Heights, Fig Tree Drive (where you'll see black pineapples growing), and Nelson's Dock Yard (English Harbor). Throughout the day, she provided us with rum punch, Antiguan beer, black pineapple, and sugar cane to sample. Lunch was included and she gave us a couple of options. We selected a traditional Caribbean fare restaurant which served the ducana and salt cod in tomato sauce. We visited Valley Church Beach as our final stop which had the most beautiful water! Our tour was called "Seeing Antigua by boat", and it was basically a circumnavigation of the entire island. First of all, the boat was WONDERFUL! It was called the "Excellence". After the dismal time spent on board the touring boat in Barbados, this crew was awesome. Friendly, helpful, very safety-oriented. We saw Oprah Winfrey's home and Eric Clapton's. Stopped at Green Island for snorkeling and the crew made a sumptuous BBQ Chicken lunch. The beach where they stopped was the most beautiful tropical place I think I've ever been, water-wise. My cousin and I swam after snorkeling and had so much fun. It was like being on Gilligan's Island for the day. On the Atlantic side of the Island, we saw Queen Elizabeth II's yacht at harbor and along the way, they'd point out things of interest. It was an all-day tour, but so beautiful and relaxing! Love, love, LOVED it! Read Less
