The outer walls and the beautiful chapels along the eastern wall of the transept are the only surviving Romanesque elements of the Aarhus Cathedral. As it stands today, the cathedral is the result of a radical rebuilding in Gothic style, inspired by the great contemporary churches in the Hanseatic towns around the Baltic Sea.

The weather was not good on this day, and I think we spent more time at the Cathedral than was necessary. Then the bus that was supposed to transport us to the Den Gamle By was about 25 minutes late in picking us up. We stood in the rain waiting with no place to get cover. When we finally got to the location, our time was shortened, and it was not the type of place to race through. Just too much to absorb. Read Less
