We took the Misty Fjords Wilderness Cruise through Princess. We enjoyed it a lot and saw eagles, seals, and whales. Dress warmly. It does take the entire day in Ketchikan--we only had time to quickly grab some souvenirs on the way back. But we knew it was a 4-hour excursion and we enjoyed it. Part of the reason we were later was that the boat operator stayed as long as she could so we could see the whales.

We booked the Wildlife and Crab Feast Expedition. There really was no wildlife. The tour guide had trained eagles to come to her for free fish when we went by. And, we did have the opportunity to have our pictures taken with live crabs from their pots which was fun. The best part of this expedition was the all you can eat crab. It was delicious and they kept it coming. However, pretty pricy without the wildlife....

We were taken to three places to see bald eagles, bears, and totem poles and of course the beautiful Alaskan wilderness everywhere. Worth the cost.

Our parents went on the Neets Bay Bear Cruise ( in the afternoon and saw lots and lots of black bears, one after the other coming out of the woods to feed on the salmon in the river.

We did the Totems, Eagles, and Lighthouses tour through ShoreTrips. The scenery was absolutely beautiful and I was especially glad that they provided binoculars for us to use. We got great pictures of the totem poles and tons of gorgeous eagle shots. I was a little disappointed in the lighthouse though. It seemed pretty modern and was not nearly as "romantic" as the one's on the Georgia coast. The guides were very friendly and helped us find the animals and other interesting things to see.

We took a coastal wildlife tour- It was really fun! There was a small group of us, about 16. The boat owner took us way out of Ketchecan, down some beautiful water ways. We saw an eagle nesting area- lots and lots of eagles, we saw several seals, other birds. Unfortunately we did not see any bears, but it was not without a lot of effort from the boat owner. He provided all us with binoculars too, made many stops so we could go out on the front of the boat for pictures. We would recommend this tour to others.

We did the Neet's Bay Bear Cruise. If you do this, be sure the salmon run is going on before booking. We did, and WOW! It really paid off. We saw all sorts of wildlife from black-bears, to chum-salmon actually in the throes of spawning. Really cool. It rained quite a bit, but staff offers rain-slickers to wear, and we got quite a few great photos of area wildlife. It's also a most informative trip regarding the local tradition of salmon raising and hatching. Awesome experience. NOTE: On this tour, you'll see black-bear, but NOT Brown (Grizzly) Bears.
