We did a Norwegian excursion for our Puerto Vallarta port day, it was the "Discover Puerto Vallarta" tour. You start by meeting your group in the theater and then you all go out together onto the port, you board a large coach tour bus. The excursion is about 4 hrs. You will make several stops, the Cathedral, the Malecon where you will see the statues and the coastline. There really is no time to shop here at all, if you go into a store you will most likely lose your group and you don't want to fall behind because they will leave without you. You will get a chance to shop toward the end. After the Malecon they will take you to a jewelry store where they offer you a small drink and you stay there for 25 min with the clear intention of you buying from that shop. It had some pretty jewelry but it was also pretty expensive so I passed on all that. After that you go to an outdoor shopping area, its nice and shady there. You can pick up some great items here. After that you go to the mosaic park area, again this is beach front and here is where you get 30 min so if you want you can go to the ocean for a while and put your feet in and cool off, or get a bite to eat at one of the taco stands on the beach. For lunch they take you to a restaurant which was actually really nice called El Set. Its situation up in the hills and is open and breezy-ish. The view here is spectacular. They have a set up there where there is almost like a pre fix menu that you can order from and an open bar. We had the butter shrimp and tacos and both were great. Its a quick pit stop before you are back on the bus. All in all, its not a drastic amount of walking but PV is pretty hot which can make even a small amount of walking uncomfortable. The bus has AC which helps. Our tour guides name was Gloria and she was pleasant and informative. If you don't like strict schedules and groups then I would skip this. I am happy we did this though because I definitely would never have been able to see as many parts of PV had I not so in the respect it was worth it. Read Less
