Although this was billed as a 7 1/2 trip we were only in port for 8 hours and the meet time was 2 hours after we arrived. As it was we managed about 5 1/2 hours and because it was a Sunday and the traffic was light we managed to take in everything that was advertised, albeit a little rushed. The Batu Caves are well worth visiting although it is a bit of a hike up all those steps. The trip also took in the Nation Mosque and Old Railway Station (both interesting but not exceptional), Independence Square (much more interesting thanks to the stories told by our guide) and a photo stop and a bit of spare time at the Petronas Towers. Make sure you go through to the gardens at the rear. Read Less

James was the tour guide and he was outstanding--very informative and funny. He made this one of the best ship tours during this cruise. On the other hand, my spouse did the "Kuala Lumpur Highlights" and departed around 9:15PM and did not return to the ship until 4PM with no lunch or food stops. That review would have been lower than this one. The caves were very interesting, but we could have done without the trip to the pewter factory.

The caves were very interesting, but we could have done without the trip to the pewter factory. The national museum was good, but we had only 45 minutes due to traffic congestion.

This excursion was very rushed.
Sail Date: March 2017
This excursion was very rushed. Though it was an 8 hour excursion, the drive into Kuala Lumpur took most of the trip. Left us with very limited time to actually enjoy stuff.

Upgrade works were underway - well overdue.
Sail Date: September 2016
Upgrade works were underway - well overdue. Quite a big hike to the top - especially on a hot, humid day, but worth it for the views. Most entertaining was watching the monkeys steal food from unsuspecting tourists!

We visited Batu Caves which was great. I would have liked to spend more time there. I have to warn - the steps to the caves are really steep. I felt muscles I didn't even know I had. We then went on to visit the Royal Selangor Pewter factory and a museum and had a buffet lunch. To be honest, I could have done without any of that, but, that was the tour. Others seemed to enjoy it just fine. The museum was small - I was quite surprised by that. Read Less

Long bus ride to KL, although bus was comfortable and the ride was smooth. The Caves are amazing, but the place is a chaotic mess. We are westerners who live in Asia, so are used to it. There was much more to this excursion than I expected, given that you must spend 2-3 hours just getting there and back to the ship. A very good buffet meal was served at the Tourism center, which is very well maintained. Interesting visit to a Tin dealer. Quick photo op of the Petronas Tower from the ground - and then a ride up KL Tower for great panoramic views of the city. Had to make a mad rush to catch the ship! Guide was knowledgeable and in control. Read Less

LONG set of stairs, interesting interior. Also did a 'drive by' tour of the city and a lunch in 'little India' - took about 90 minutes to get there from Port Klang, not sure it was worthy of the trip.

Was really looking forward to Batu Caves, and was pretty impressed (be warned there are 272 steps to get up there) ...BUT... we only had 1/2 hour at the caves, so 10 mins climb, 10 mins viewing and 10 mins back down and refreshment stop. This was unfortunate as you need more time there, could easily spend an hour exploring. The trip then went to the Royal Selangor Pewter factory and gift shop (surprisingly interesting and plenty of people bought items in the shop), then lunch, then on to the KL tower and a trip up to the observation deck to get a 360 degree view of KL and take plenty of snaps. This was followed by a whistle stop visit to take snaps of the Petronas Towers and then back to the ship. A long day but again a good introduction to KL if like us you had never been there. Read Less
