King's Wharf St. George's Walking Tour Excursion Reviews

Take a walking tour of St. George’s -- once the former capital of Bermuda and now a designated world heritage site, steeped with history.

I enjoyed the walking tour and getting a bit of history about St. George - my wife felt a little bored and tired and would have preferred a hop-on, hop-off trolley type tour, but we didn't see it.

Our guide for the walking tour portion was enthusiastic, but she seemed to be still learning the history. It is listed as moderate activity but many of the guests did not seem to know this and had trouble keeping up. The walking tour ends at Tobacco Bay Beach with food and drink included. The food and drink were good. A chair on the beach was also included. Our guide and her boss told us to choose any chair after eating but the beach attendant thought otherwise and said his boss was wrong and was very rude! Our guide and her boss had left, so we were not able to tell them. The bartender was the only one available and she barely had to time to let us sign the waiver to leave. We did not feel welcome and the weather was windy and overcast, so we chose to walk back to St. George and enjoy the Historical Reenactment on the Town Square instead. It was very funny and we were glad we made that choice! With a little research you could do the walking tour on your own. Read Less

St. George wasn't anything special. Visit the unfinished church if you are there but don't waste your time unless you are just passing through.

This was part of our Scenic St George's Tour. Nice area to explore and the history is all around you. This area was the first capitol of the Island and dates back to 1612. Nice church and shops to walk through in town, the ferry ride over took around 45 minutes. We also had time to explore a lighthouse and Ft St Catherine on this excursion. It was just 4 of us and the taxi driver. He would stop if we wanted pictures and answered all of our questions. We even worked out a deal with him to take us over to Hamilton after the tour so we would not have to take a ferry back to the dockyard and then wait for another ferry to Hamilton. Read Less

We took the ferry to St George's. An all day pass will cost you $15 but includes an unlimited day of ferry and bus transit. It was a 45 minute sail from King's Wharf to St George's. We walked toward the main part of town where we were greeted by an energetic local advertising a local tour. For $5 we got to see some of the old sights of town and get a good history. Well worth it and it dropped us back in town in time to see the reenacting of a town's woman being publicly punished for gossiping. Be sure to see this for a good laugh. The main part of St George's is close to Tobacco Bay which is a nice beach/swimming spot when on that part of the island. It is walking distance. Read Less
