Jerusalem (Ashdod) Western Wall Excursion Reviews

The western wall of the Temple Mount is among the most sacred sites in Judaism, well worth a visit.

Crowds were so massive I didn't think we'd ever get in. It was something I'd always wanted to do. Got to see it finally, but, to meet up the guide said "11:30". After the fight and line in the bathroom, I emerged three minutes after and couldn't find my group. I looked and looked but no one held up lollipop and there were two people with them. Finally gave up and took a taxi to the supposed meeting place. The card handed out said meet at Rachel Ramat Kibbutz for lunch. That's where I went but after calls and waiting, no sign of them. Finally discovered there were two lunch areas but the card didn't say that. Barely caught them there. Had a good private tour in the taxi though. Read Less

Wonderful experience.
Wonderful experience. People were reverent when visiting the wailing wall. Truly sprirtual experience and I am not of the Jewish faith.

The traffic and crowds not fun.
The traffic and crowds not fun. We saw an auful lot in a short time. I'm glad we did. The guide did his best to let us see the city and Bethelhem. Too much for one day. Good lunch overlooking the Wailing Wall.

After what amounted at considerable more time at the Wailing Wall than scheduled and another desperate search around the square our guide decided to return to the bus. We didn’t mind the extra time at the Wall. The experience was mind blowing. We all know the pictures, the stories, but to actually be there was wonderful. There was a whole group of Israelian teenagers dancing and singing in the square. When we asked someone what they were celebrating, the answer was Life! Those kids were celebrating life. It was a wonderful demonstration of resilience. Of trust. Of strength. And we found ourselves in tears and clapping with them. So no, we didn’t mind this last wait on the lost couple at all. A highlight of our cruise ship excursions this trip.
A highlight of our cruise ship excursions this trip. The Western Wall tour was combined with the Bethlehem/Jerusalem tour. It was an exhausting but interesting full-day trip.

The tour was named Glorious Jerusalem and it involved an overnight stay in the city. We saw a tremendous amount of Christian and Jewish religious sites including the Western Wall, Church of the Nativity (Bethlehem), Nazareth, the Sea of Galilee, Caana, and so much more! We walked a great deal and our tour guide was brilliant. We never felt in danger or threatened, and were treated very well by all (Palestinians and Israelis). Our guide arranged for us to attend the laser light and sound show in the ruins of the Second Temple and that program will stay with us forever! WOW. Read Less

All that is left of the last temple is this foundation wall. Not one stone of the actual building was left by the Romans in their 70 AD destruction. We were there during Succoth (Feast of Tabernacles) where Jews remember their 40 year desert trek with Moses. Neat to see the devotion of the Hasidic Jews who were there in mass for the holiday.
