My travelling companion is a member of the St. John order so this had a personal touch to it for us. Truly wonderful.

This was our second time stopping in Izmir. The first time we went to Ephesus, so this time we went to Mary's House and St. John's Monastery. The sites we visited were amazing and we loved them. The thing we didn't like is that we only spent about 30 minutes at the monastery and 25 minutes at Mary's House, because our tour guide was more worried about getting us to a leather store to watch a fashion show and purchase high end leather goods. We spent an hour and a half at the leather shop. Because we spent so much time there, we were very close to the "back on board" time the ship sets for the people getting off the ship at each port. In the excursion description is says there will be time for shopping but doesn't specify what that shopping is. Many of the people we spoke with that took excursions in Izmir were very upset with this shopping stop. We along with several others did make a complaint to the excursion office on the ship and they said they would look in to it.

The tour of Mary's House and St. John's Monastery was the main reason for us to take this cruise. It exceeded our expectations. Very informative tour guide.
